And the biggest fire has destroyed 400 homes and buildings 200 miles north near los angeles. Allison barber has the elson barber has the latest. Reporter Governor Brown has asked for an emergency declaration. Yesterday there were four major fires and now there are six from north of los angeles down to san diego. Be prepared to leave immediately. Make sure that you have the car gassed up completely. Reporter people throughout Southern California are being warned to be on guard with numerous fires roaring. Embers are engulfing homes and threatens thousands more. A lot of my friends are telling me to leave on the evacuation. Reporter in the ventura area, teams are working to contain the largest fire in the state. The thomas fire started burning monday. And its now destroyed hundreds of homes and buildings and consumed hundreds of square miles. Reporter the magnitude of the winds and the fire storms and how fast things change, you just have to really be alert. Reporter crews are also fighting large fires around los angeles. And are now reporting some progress. A fire thats quickly burned 10 square miles is moving west, destroying dozens of homes and triggering evacuations. Its ripped through a Retirement Community and killed horses at a racing facility. Santa ana weakening will cause the fire to be less predictable. Its going to be moving in different direction and crews will have to be very careful. Reporter you can see behind us the fire has started to die down a little bit. But you can see that its in Straight Lines and when the wind blows, the lines are bigger and even straighter and thats because of the santa ana winds. The winds spread the fire and spread the fire in one direction. And what fire officials are talking about. Is once the winds let up. Theyll have a different set of issues. The fires and the flames become less predictable. Now theyre bad but are going in a direction that they know and can expect. The fires will spread out all over and be much more difficult for firefighters to deal with. Theyll have to be extra careful because the flames could be all over the place. A 125,000 arrest warrant is being issued for a care worker who is accused of assaulting a man in the east bay. Charles ward used to work in san leandro at novales developmental services. He assaulted a male patient in march. That victim has cerebral malaysiay and can only communicate by nodding his head. We have no other known victims related to mr. Ward in his job role. We would be interested if anyone has information about mr. Ward to please come forward. He quit his job as officers were going to question him. He has apparently been on the run ever since. He has an address in placerville but his whereabouts are unknown. Last night at uc berkeley, students and Community Members gathered to honor the life of indicate seen the lee. It was kate steinle. They brought flowers and photos of her. Some mourned her death and also showed anger that her accused killer was acquitted of murder. To be able to kill somebody and to receive a not guilty verdict is just unreal. And that just goes to show that our sanctuary city laws are not working. There were a few protesters at the vigil as well. They criticized organizers for using her death as a way to demonize immigrants. Oakland city workers will be on strike for the fourth straight day. Oakland mayor libby schaaf said the city put the last offer on the table. Problems in oakland seem to be adding up. The city is losing money on Parking Enforcement since those officers are not on duty. And no one is cleaning up the garbage at homeless encampments. Many city buildings will be closed today including Senior Centers and libraries. Security forces in israel expect more violence today in East Jerusalem and the west bank. Palestinian demonstrators have been clashing with israeli troops since President Trump recognized jerusalem as israels capital on wednesday. Palestinian protesters burned american flags and pelted Israeli Soldiers with rocks. Tear gas and Water Cannons were used to try to break up the crowd. The Palestinian Authority has called for three days of rage after President Trumps announcement. It triggered warnings from the leader of hamas of a new uprising against israel. Last night in washington, President Trump and the first lady hosted a hanukkah reception at the white house. The president said the world is stronger and full of promise because of the jewish people. I went inside a company thats turning trash into treasure. And if there are toys on your Holiday Shopping list, i found some made in the bay. Green toys started in marin county like many local start ups in a garage with the idea of turning plastic milk jugs into something much more. The milk jugs are chopped, cleaned, and dried. The material is food grade plastic. It comes from milk jugs or clean containers. Each car, truck, tea set, and play set has its own mold. The molten plastic sits in the plastic for less than a minute. And then the machine delivers the piece ready for assembly. And you can say its literally hot off the press. Making the toys in the bay area makes sense for the company and the economy. Its not like were ordering a container of product and then its sold out. We are making and shipping products all the time.
