As we bring in these pictures minutes ago alex savidge is at the scene and we will have him coming up in a live report. We are checking your weather on this chilly monday morning. We have Rosemary Orozco in. We have the wind which is making it feel bad for most areas. We also have an advisory for the hills lasting into tuesday. Here is a look at the doors from San Francisco to the east where temperatures are in the upper 30s to the upper 40s. Because of the wind temperatures are up by a few degrees but it wont be feeling much better. In fact we have to consider the wind chill factor of 48 feeling like 38 in San Francisco. 39 in oakland, upper 40s in livermore with 46 in san jose and santa rosa at 40. Fairfield at 15 Miles Per Hour but it was gusting earlier. Santa rosa with a sustained wind at 15 Miles Per Hour. Shifting south into san jose there is a west breeze at 9 and Mountain View at 3. Really it is in the hills where the wind is gusting up to 50 Miles Per Hour. Mount diablo at 79 Miles Per Hour. The wind advisory in the north bay hills does not include the Santa Cruz Mountains although a little while ago the wind was gusting up to 30 around the Santa Cruz Mountains. This will go until tomorrow morning and expires at 10 00. Your afternoon highs will be around 61 in San Francisco, 62 oakland, 63 in san jose. Another advisory along the coastline where we have coastal flooding today along with tomorrow. I will have details on that and your extended forecast in a bit. Lets get to the highways with Sal Castaneda. We have traffic on the east shore freeway that is slowing down to 40 minutes between the carquinez bridge and the macarthur maze. It seems to be heavy in berkeley as you can see it is nice and crowded at the bay bridge toll plaza. You will have so traffic at the toll plaza but it is looking somewhat normal up to the pay gates. You can see the fasttrack lanes seem to be moving along relatively well and we dont have any problems in the carpool lane as you drive through. We have also been looking at the bay bridge itself and looking at the toll plaza. Here at the incline section of the bridge it is looking all right. There are the metering lights and we have been watching the toll booth number 14 which remains shut down because of the deadly accident over the weekend. There is toll booth number 14 out of commission. The rest of them are open and it is good because we need every single lane we can get. This is interstate 880 Oakland North and southbound it is looking fine but 880 is slowing near san lorenzo into hayward and union city. Lets get back to the desk. Nearly all of the toll lanes are opened this morning. Lane 14 on the righthand side is closed. The toll booth was demolished when it was hit by a truck saturday morning. Leigh martinez is at the toll plaza and some of the workers are going back for the First Time Since the toll taker was killed. Reporter it is a very sad situation. We spoke to caltrans and he says everyone is mourning. At 4 30 they opened up three of the lanes over the weekend. We saw the workers out at 13 and 14 but yesterday it was mostly for debris cleanup. The workers returned to work yesterday and today. They are mourning the loss of toll collector si si han. As a box truck approached the toll booth it suddenly veered diagonally across several lanes hitting five vehicles before crashing through booth 14. The 46yearold veteran toll collector si si han was killed. She had been an operator for more than 10 years. Current and former coworkers are mourning her loss. She made it a better shift and a better moment to come into work. I will always remember that as well as her wisdom. Also her severe sincere friendship. It has been a very rough weekend. You just, when something happens you dont recover right away. We will be hurting for a while. Reporter the governor ordered flags to fly at half staff. Highway patrol later arrested the box truck driver, 32year old daniel berk of foster city for driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. He and the unidentified passenger were ejected from the truck and suffered major injuries. He is still in Highland Hospital. Chp expects him to remain in the hospital for several days. The occupants of the five other cars, we are told they were also taken to the hospital but they have been released. As for booth 14 they do not have an estimated time as to when it will be up and running. They will have to get a contractor to come repair the booth. They need to create a new one. They had one of their engineers come and do a review of the plaza and the Structural Integrity is okay. They do need to completely replace booth 14. There is no estimated time frame but the coworkers say that it wont be the same. Very sad, thank you. We may learn more today about the case against a man accused in oakland deadly ghost ship warehouse fire where 36 people died. Allie rasmus tells us a preliminary hearing will start in a couple of hours. The hearing which will last five days, a judge will hear evidence against the two men that face Involuntary Manslaughter charges for the death of 36 people in the go shipped warehouse fire. The two men were tenants at the fire ghost ship and they were responsible for organizing the parties. The men are accused of altering the structure of the warehouse with staircases and locked exits. In an exclusive interview, Derick Almena admitted to changing the building but he also said others should share in the blame including the owners of the building. The Property Owners have been charged in the case. Over the weekend friends and family members returned to the boardedup warehouse in oakland to remember their loved ones and reflect on the year that has passed. The outside of the building was beautifully decorated with handwritten notes and small personal works of art. The hearing will get underway around 8 45 this morning in oakland. The expectation is that the hearing will reveal new details and information about the case of the prosecution. Allie rasmus, thank you. Republican lawmakers will work to reconcile the tax reform bill passed in the house and senate. The senate and the house versions cut the Corporate Tax rate from 35 to 20 . Republicans say that will inspire companies to hire more workers. Democrats say that there is no guarantee the tax cut will benefit middleclass workers. Why not put any requirement that these companies will invest the money in training their workforce giving them skills to compete as opposed to the vast majority of these funds come back and be used for share buyback. Democrats and some republicans in high tax states are complaining about the elimination of some tax deductions. The raiders and the 49ers had a winning weekend. Firefighters are at the scene of a deadly house fire. Alex savidge is live with more. Reporter good morning. There is an active scene at this home on eagle avenue. This is off of park street in alameda. You can see the firefighters at the scene. There is also Alameda Police as well who are investigating the circumstances surrounding this fire. The cause is under investigation. We did get confirmation from Alameda Fire Department it is a fire that led to one man being killed. The man was found in the home at 6 00 this morning. That is when fire crews got to the home on eagle avenue. The place had flames shooting out of the windows and from under the eaves of the home. They went through the home, knocked down the fire in a relatively short amount of time but that is when they found the man who was dead in the home. There was nothing they could do to save him. Some of the neighbors have said the man who lived here by himself was elderly and we spoke with some neighbors about what took place this morning. He is 94 years old and oftentimes he will fall down and cant get up. There is a security door but they couldnt get in. We have not seen anybody come out. Reporter the Alameda Fire Department says when they arrived the home was burning significantly. There were flames coming out from under the home and again they knocked down the fire and they went to search the home and that is when they found one man dead in the home. Neighbors tell us it was an elderly gentleman who is not able to escape. Obviously there will be a full investigation into the cause of the fire. The Alameda Fire Department has not said it was anything suspicious at this point, but the Police Department is now involved. Again, the fire on eagle avenue just off of park street has left one man dead. Back to you guys. Alex savidge, think you. Our time is 7 15. Sal castaneda we have our hands full. Yes we do. We have a problem in San Francisco with tree that is down in the middle of the lanes. Southbound 101 at 280, you can see how slow the traffic is on 101 as we drive out of San Francisco i would not use this unless you get on the 101 after 280. This is not moving well at all and it will likely stay like this until they open the lanes. And then as you drive out of San Francisco you can use the extension and stay on 280 two get 23 80 or get on the 101 after 280 as this is now impacting the bay bridge. Soon the metering lights may slow down. So what we thought would make us slow really hasnt which is tollbooth number 14. It is kind of hard to see in the sun but the tollbooth is not open because of the deadly crash over the weekend. This is interstate 880 and the traffic is moving okay. Southbound 880 is slow from hayward into fremont. The dumbarton bridge is filling in into menlo park and on the south bay commute all of the freeways are getting slow. This is typical. 7 17 lets bring in rosemary. Partly cloudy mostly clear and the wind is definitely howling. For some it will have an impact on how it feels. We will take a look at all of this coming up and a little bit. Now lets get to the highways. We have a problem in San Francisco. You should leave the house knowing highway 101 is a complete mess because of some issues we had with a tree on southbound 101 at 280 that is still blocking lanes. They are waiting for caltrans to come with the chainsaw. They cannot really move it because it is such a big tree. Fortunately nobody was injured. Southbound 101 is backed up and it is beginning to affect the bay bridge itself and traffic is slow getting into San Francisco. This is a double whammy coming in and leaving on 101. Lets talk about the other commutes like the bay bridge will be slow and now we have slow traffic at the bay bridge after the metering lights. So, the tollbooth that is closed, at first it was not a big deal. Still i dont think it is. It is more of the problems on the bridge itself. If you want to go down southbound 880 you can do that. There is some slowing in hayward and when you cross the bay northbound 101 will be slow into the peninsula. Looking at the south bay all of the freeways are crowded in the west valley.
