The goal is to save money as the district deals with a serious budget deficit. District leaders have identified eight Elementary Schools that may be shut down. I just got here. This process has left many families feeling anxious wondering where their children will wind up. This parent has 2 girls at minor elementary. She is preparing them. It was tough on her this morning. She is older and knows what is going on. She will miss her friends. They will not all be grouped together. Reporter the district is looking to consolidate Elementary Schools. To make up for a 12 million deficit. The superintendent says the issue is declining enrollment. The district has lost more than 1000 students over the past five years. Families who can no longer afford to live in san jose. It is one of the most difficult things any superintendent will ever have to do. It is circumstances of how incredibly prohibitive it is for families to stay in our area. It is and impacting point for our community.
