The president retweeted a series of videos that alleged to show violence being committed by muslims. The videos come from the leader of an obscure far right British Group called britain first. It opposes multiculturalism and what it calls the islamization of britain. It turns out at least one of the videos doesnt show any muslims. And critics say the retweeting of the videos serves to normalize hate speech and incite violence against muslims. The white house defended the president s intentions. Whether its a real video the threat is real and that is what the president is talking about. Thats what the president is focused on is dealing with those real threats. And those are real no matter how you look at it. Today british Prime Minister theresa may condemned the president for the retweet saying the britains first group strokes tensions with lies and hateful narratives and within the past hour President Trump responded to the Prime Minister saying, theresa may, dont focus on me. Focus on the destructive radical islamic terrorism that is taking place within the united kingdom. We are doing just fine. Many of the u. S. Civil Rights Groups are also condemning the president s actions. We spoke with the director of care on the four on 2 today and she said she feels the president s tweets harm the reputation of the united states. The leader who he is retweeting has been charged with hate crimes, has been convicted of hate crimes and facing trial for more hate crimes then we have european leaders chastising the president for doing this in a year where we have already documented over 3,000 hate crimes. Its its like a madhouse where he is and i wish someone would just take his phone away to protect our reputation and our communities safety. She said the president s continued attacks on muslims embolden racists here in the u. S. And make american muslims more vulnerable to hate crimes and attacks.
