The westbound side of the freeway was shut down for seven hours. At 8 11 saturday evening multiple cars crashed. Four people in one vehicle were killed and six more were injured. Cal athletics confirmed he survived the crash. Chp says the driver who caused the accident left the scene. The suspect was identified as sacramento resident fred hello. Officers say that the weather played a role in some of the actions. An Investigation Underway into the circumstances surrounding a deadly crash in the oakland estuary. A minivan went in the water near the fruitvale bridge. Dive teams pulled the body of 68yearold paul Douglas Scherer of alameda from the water. They say the water temperature combined with Poor Visibility made the recovery challenging. Divers searched the water until the minivan was found 30 feet below the surface. A sunnyvale man died in a crashing Mountain View yesterday morning. Chp responded to the crash near the ellis street offramp. A preliminary investigation indicates the men was trying to avoid hitting another vehicle that cut in front of him. He then crashed into a perimeter fence and overturned. Chp says neither alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. 30 minutes later someone called chp to see a van had gone off southbound highway 101 in sausalito. The driver of the van was ejected and killed. The van had bald tires and the driver may have been speeding on wet roads. One person was killed in a crash yesterday on interstate 80. Chp received calls at 9 45 in the morning of the crash. This happened when a ford pickup truck lost control at the berkeley curve. The truck came to a stop in the roadway and that is when an suv traveling at a high rate of speed slammed into the truck. The driver and another passenger were injured. His capture comes days after the other escaped inmate, travel mcclough was captured in stockton. In stock and authorities fired shots at bivens when he tried to run over a deputy us marshal and chp officer. Bivens is now back in custody and he could face additional charges including attempted murder of a federal agent. Volcanic eruptions forcing International Airlines to cancel flights out of bali stranding thousands of travelers and forcing 100,000 people to evacuate. The mountain has been shooting white and dark ash 9800 feet into the atmosphere and lava is filling the crater. The main airport on the island has been shut down until tomorrow morning because the ash reached airspace for the airport.
