Well go 66 for san francisco, 70 for concord, low 70s expected in san jose. Temperatures wont change a lot for saturday but we do have wet weather for sunday. We continue to follow developing news. A texas state trooper killed in the line of duty. Officers have captured a suspect in the deadly shooting of that texas state trooper. Officials plan to file murder charges against him. The shooting happened about 90 miles south of dallas when the trooper, damon allen, made a traffic stop. The trooper approached the vehicle and interacted with the driver and went back to his patrol unit. The suspect fired multiple rounds from a rifle at the state trooper. Reporter the trooper died at the scene. Allen had been with the texas Highway Patrol for 15 years. Hes survived by a wife and three children. The suspect, debrett black drove off but was later found more than a hundred miles away. The sheriff says there was gun fire when black was found. Black is being treated for non life threatening injuries. Its been almost a year since the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire in oakland killed 36 people. Now, new body camera video shows Oakland Police interacting with the master tenant, derick almena, almost two years before the fire. How many times have we came back here . I dont know, in the past week. Reporter the body camera video obtained this week shows Oakland Police talking with almena about problems at the warehouse. The video shows Oakland Police knew people were living there illegally. Listen, youre not listening to me, they claim to have keys there, live there, from prior calls, they live there, they rent there, thats a fact. If youre so scared [inaudible] reporter now, almena and fellow tenant, max harris pled not guilty to 36 counts of manslaughter. A preliminary hearing is set for next month to determine if theres enough evidence to go to trial. Vallejo police are asking for help in finding a missing 88 year old woman who has dementia. Police say she was last seen [inaudible] at the hospital and left about an hour before her son arrived. Shes described at 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 135 pounds. She was last seen wearing an orange jacket and brown pants. Police say she was driving a red chevy impala. Our time is now 5 04. The victims of the north bay wildfire are still dealing with their losses but they and the people helping them recover were the guests of honor at special thanksgiving meals. Next, her story because whats happening to her is not as unusual as many might think. Welcome back. November is lung Cancer Awareness month. Its not just smokers who get lung cancer. 25 of lung cancer cases around the world affect non smokers. Some say there is not enough research and attention. Thats why donna terry is sharing her story. Shes healthy, young, and eats healthy, she also has stage four lung cancer. Reporter if life can be captured in pictures, donna terrys seemed like one out of a fairy tale. [inaudible] he got a detective job at a good city. We thought we were going to buy our forever home, had a boy and a girl, and then i got sick last year. Reporter at first, she thought it was a cold, a cough that wouldnt go away. Then i got to the point where i was coughing so hard, i actually was breaking ribs. At this point, i had broken two ribs coughing. They finally decided to do a biopsy. When i woke up from anesthesia, i saw the look in my doctors face, and i said tell it to me straight, and he said its cancer, stage four. Reporter it had spread from her lungs to her lymphnodes and her brain. I had over 200 nodules, tumors in my lungs, and 15 tumors in my brain. Reporter terry was only 39, has never been a smoker, she eats healthy, exercises regularly, and when the symptoms started, she did not wait to go to the doctor. Her doctor says this case is a wake up call and an opportunity to educate ourselves on who lung cancer is targeting. A lot of if screening guidelines for lung cancer are for patients who have a history of smoking. 25 of lung cancer world wide cannot be accounted for by smoking, so thats a big percentage when you think that 1. 6 million cases are diagnosed per year world wide. Reporter thats a lot of people. Thats a lot of patients, exactly. Reporter who never smoked . Who never smoked. Lung cancer in never smokers more frequently occurs in women than men, and this is particularly true in asia. For women diagnosed with lung cancer in asia, 60 to 80 have never smoked reporter the question is why . Thats a very good question and we dont know. Reporter more research is needed. Research as identified three types of has identified three types of cancers in non smokers. We want to identify what that is because we with have medication to make the tumor stop growing. Reporter there are still side effects. Terry has lost a lot of hair, but she can take her treatment at home with a pill. Its not as invasive and she calls the effects, a miracle. I would say three weeks, i was up and running, no oxygen, no shortness of breath. Last week, i had my third scan, my lung scan, and they said that my lungs now look like a normal, quote, unquote, normal person. 15 down to 6 tumors in my head, but theyre much smaller, reduced in size, not causing symptoms. Navy called off the search for three missing sailors after a plane crashed wednesday in the philippine sea. Their cargo plane crashed as it headed to the aircraft carrier, uss ronald reagan. Eight people on board were rescued but three others are still missing. As we said, they just called off the search. We dont know the names or hometowns of those missing sailors yet. Google is cracking down on websites that use ad words to resell tickets to concerts and events. Google says it wants to protect people from ticket scalpers and from websites that sell tickets without making it clear they are not the primary ticketholder. People are not just lining up in the stores and malls for black friday deals, some are downloading special apps to get good deals. Cyber Security Companies say you should be very careful doing that. Reporter its a time of year for family, turkey, and of course deals. With 115 million americans expected to shop on black friday alone, with those deals come risks. Black friday has become a, a major source of revenue for retailers, so the bad guys are going where the money is. Reporter lou says those bad guys are making fake apps designed to trick users looking for popular retailers apps. A consumer is looking for a deal, looking for a coupon. Reporter thousands of apps in the app store could be dangerous or malicious. What we found was these applications contained ad ware or spy ware, or in some ways attempted to steal data off of the consumers phone. Reporter he says the apps could also track users location and could take over your phone, demanding you pay a ransom before you get access back. To protect yourself, research any app before downloading it, do a Google Search of the app developer, and be wary of applications that ask for permission like for access to your contacts. While many of us like to spent days in the kitchen lead spend days in the kitchen leading up to thanksgiving, some people like things simpler. Some say going out for thanksgiving is a relaxing and stress free way to enjoy the holiday. Its a popular workout with studios popping up across the area. Now there are concerns that spin class may be hazardous to your hearing. Some of the noise levels are so loud, medical experts say it would be safer to spend an hour listening to a jet engine. Reporter its the latest cardio craze taking the nation by storm, but just beyond the dim lights and sweaty bikes, we found a potentially dangerous and unregulated detail that may have you reconsidering your ride. That music meant to move you as you battle the bulge, set so loud it can do real harm to your hearing. Theyre very concerning numbers. Reporter dr. Laprel is a professor of hearing science at utd. Anything above 90 decibels is getting into what we consider hazardous noise. Reporter we met with her team who armed us with the toolings we need to sample the sounds at spin class, then we rode. For months, we took sound samples at fly wheel and soul cycle, two National Chains with multiple locations. For each class we took, we used the free ear protection each studio offered. We couldnt help but notice most other riders didnt. And that, says our expert, is the real danger here. While countless fans swear by the class for mind, body, and soul, protecting the ears seems secondary. Both companies provide ear protection but signage and warnings are not required. Cardio class is considered recreational noise, and for that there, is no regulation. Maybe there should be. Take a listen to what we found. The highest dose that you measured was547 . Thats essentially an entire weeks worth of noise in one session. Every single one of the sessions that you attended resulted in more than a hundred percent. Reporter to put that in perspective, the sounds we measured were louder than a bulldozer or a jet plane flying over head. About the only thing its quieter than is if you were at a rock concert with the band performing in front of you. Reporter if you think that puts you at risk, consider your instructor. For them, this is occupation National Noise which is regulated but inspections by osha usually come down to complaints. Laprel says the readings we found all exceed oshas permissible limit. Add in a third class and those instructors would be in a position where they would be required to wear hearing protection. Reporter which brings us back to those free ear plugs. Each pair provided had a high enough noise protection rating to bring the sounds down to a safe level, but heres the spin, most folks, myself included, dont use them correctly. These are only half way in. Most dont roll them down small enough or insert them deep enough. Only possible when you hold your ear im going to actually pull my ear up and a little bit back. Two parking lots for the Golden Gate Bridge are closed this morning. The Welcome Center parking lot and the vista point parking lot will be closed through sunday. The bridge district says its closing them to avoid traffic back ups that happen on busy Holiday Weekends. You can enjoy can the view from the overlooks and the Welcome Center but you have to arrive by bus, on a bike, taxi, Ridesharing Service or you can always walk. Starting today, a piece of history will rumble through san jose. The Santa Clara Transportation Authority bringing back the historic trolley for the holiday season. Its decorated, its very popular among riders of all ages. They will offer free rides on friday, saturday, and sundays through the end of the year.
