By this evening we are getting a northerly breeze. This is your wind forecast. Napa north. We will see gusts at 35 Miles Per Hour. In the east 60s or 70s we had sunday or monday. Again, its cooler but gusts kicking in tonight. One more system on friday. Breezy afternoon in the higher elevations. Cooler humidity up around 80. The temperatures will be in the 70s today. A lot of people said im in the Sacramento Valley and i can smell smoke. Thats because the wind turned westerly. Its completely reversed itself today. Atlas peak 55. The humidity is up but the wind will pick up later today. Its a northnorthwest breeze now. 50s or 40s on the temperatures. An onshore breeze. Every time the systems come in they will kick up the wind. 60s and his 70s on temperatures. Not the upper 80s or near 90. Not a howling wind. It will be breezy. The winds should calm down and temperatures should bump up. Because of the change in the wind is there anyone community you are worried about . Some areas escaped it, you know, the path of the fire. It may move back. Instead of going from east to west it may go back from west to east. Some areas that missed it it may change directions. Last night i was hearing firefighters talk about the winds change. Its going northwest to southeast. When its changing the whole plan its the higher terrain they are worried about. Thank you, steve. There are new evacuations in sonoma last night in the geyserville area. Tell us what its like out there. First of all the weather conditions for firefighters are extremely cool. We are just southeast of the town of geyserville which is being threatened by the tubbs fire. There were Evacuation Orders being issued. Our location is highway 128 off of chalk hill road. You can tell from our shot you had the road shutdown in the area by the chp. You can see the leading edges of the tubbs fire there. Its not raging out of control but seems like they laid down during the overnight hours. This will hopefully give crews on the front lines a chance to try to get containment on the fire while conditions are favorable. I wanted to let everyone know about the new Evacuation Order issued for people in the geyserville area. They are asking people to evacuate their homes. Any one between away 128 and the rushing river. They are telling people who livein downtown geyserville to be ready to evacuate. Meaning people in that area should have their bags packed and be prepared to leave. As we know, this is a rapidly solving situation. Things can change and winds can pick up. The fire can change direction. All of a studden they may need people to leave. Again, we are giving a live picture by the roadblock. The tubbs fire is still burning. They have favorable conditions right now. Calm conditions for fire crews to try to make head way on the fire before steve just talked about it. The winds will pick up later today and thats quite concerning for firefighters. Certainly, alex can you tell us did you two travel up 128 or 101. What did you see on the way. People would like to know the devastation on the way. What were you able to see . Well, we came up 101 through Sonoma County. Just being in santa rosa earlier this week i can tell you thats the hardest hit area. They were wiped out by the fire. A lot of roads were closed in that area because you still have smoldering fires in that area. Its still a lot of smoke as we make our way north on highway 101 in the geyserville area. These new Evacuation Orders were just issued overnight. People need to keep an heads up and ear out for Evacuation Orders. Any one in the vicinity of this particular fire needs to be aware and ready to leave. Thats the scary thing. I know you heard from people. When you cover a fire there is an area they evacuate from the area and this is changing every day. Yeah, it certainly feels like it. It feels like every time you look down there is another Evacuation Order for another community. You know, you might sit her, you know, from this Vantage Point and our location to highway 128 and chalk hill road. We are southeast of the town of geyserville itself. You might look in the distance and see the leading edge of the fire. It feels like a long way off and if you lived here you might feel okay. That may well be the case. Obviously fire officials and authorities wont take chances given what we have seen play out over the last few days. We will try to get people to leave those areas. Especially with the red flag conditions. All right, thank you. All right, there are new evacuations as we mentioned. Coming up well have the latest on the fires burning around the area. Also people have been forced to evacuate in Solano County. Because everyone likes easy. Sure do. Because everyone is on the go. Because we all like to save energy, but sometimes we slip up. You can see how intense the names are on the front lines. Also new mandatory Evacuation Orders in calistoga. They ordered all residents north of grant street to evacuate. You can leave the city leaving the trail or highway 29. There is a shelter available at nap pa valley college. All other parts of the area are under an advisory. You can voluntarily evacuate. Firefighters are busy battling names. There are some orders there. They come a day after the governor called a state of emergency. Kristine captain joined us with a look at conditions there. Kristine. Yeah, pam and dave. We are in the green valley evacuation zone. We have been monthing the progress of this fire here very close to this home. It might be hard to see but its upsloped about 100 or 200 yards a way from us. Its been steadily progressing uphill. There are firefighters up at the top of the hill working trying to save this home. Its unclear what the success rate is or what they are doing. We to see fire crews up their trying to save this home. This is not the only home here. As we look farther up the road you can see the fire moving in multiple directions. Another home up in that direction. Its unclear at this time what exactly firefighters are doing and how they are going to save these homes because this is an active fire. Its moving uphill right now. You can also see as we come downhill there is an out building of some kind. It looks like a shed close to where we are standing. They might be calling this a loss at this point. This out building might be sacrificed. I did get a chances to talk with a Sonoma County sheriffs deputy that was here earlier. He said the residents here have evacuated. The people that were in this home have evacuated. They are out and safe at this hour. Again, we are hearing about a lot of evacuations. We are inside the green valley evacuation area. People have room for large animals. Also evacuating people to the community college. Classes are canceled today. They are being used as a sheltering location. Schools are canceled in the Fairfield School district as well. Anybody with a student in the area classes are canceled for the fairfield unified school district. Meanwhile, we are waiting for the sun to come up so we can get a better view of exactly whats going on with this particular fire. What they are doing at this point is trying to save homes here. We will continue to month the progress here. I know there is a lot of talk of firebreaks. It looks like part of what we are looking at is a fire break they set up. Well, thats what we are trying determine if this is a fire break. There are firefighters at the top of the hill. They are working to save the home. Im not certain this would be a fire break. This might be an active fire mobil moving through. They will usually monitor it and make sure it doesnt go towards the home. Hey, before you go. We are about to go to steve. What does it feel like out their weather wise . Is it cold . Is there any wind . Its cool and crisp. There is a light wind. If you look down the road you will have to see from our position. This is one fire vehicle we saw here earlier in the area. We have more information and these are the firefighters that told me they are working to save this home on the valley road. We will move out of their way to make sure they can get access to where they need to go. So we can make sure they have access to get to the fire up there at the top of the hill and get more information. Hey, gentleman, just wanted to check briefly is this active fire . Is this part of a backfire you are trying its just backing down. We are trying to control it. Reporter we understand the residents of this home are evacuated and safe. What are you doing to try to save the two homes up the driveway . There are two residents driveway. We are just making sure the fire goes around and not damage the structures. Reporter all right, thank you for briefing us on whats going on. Stay safe. There you have it. As we suspected this is part of the active fire here. Firefighters are doing what they can and trying to route the fire around the home. We are doing what they can to save the homes. The most important factor is the residents have listened to the Evacuation Order. Residents i spoke to earlier said there are various people who decided not to evacuate. Many people wanted to stator near their homes to save the homes or prevent looters from coming into the area or their home. Hes having those people sign wavers that they understand they are putting their lives in jeopardy by doing that. The residents are staying safe and firefighters are doing what they can to save the homes on valley road. Thank you for that work and stay safe out there. We will check back in in just a bit. The whole bay arrest gentleman is rallying together to help everybody. Coming up ill show you what local agencies are trying to do to help those who have evacuated. This is the new comfort food. Grown right here in california, with absolutely no antibiotics ever. A better way to grow, a better way to eat. And it starts with foster farms simply raised chicken. The fires are being treated as one very big fire. They ripped across 23,000 acres north of highway 20. Thats the Redwood Valley area. They continue to burnout of control. Three people have died since the fires started overnight on monday. 105150 homes were destroyed in lake county. Evacuation orders have been lifted for parts of clear lake. We are still seeing a lot of calls come in. Where he have had over 10,000 calls to our public hotline. We can answer questions on Evacuation Centers and alike. 110 of the missing persons were located and found safe. Scott, what can you tell us about the air quality. I have so many people asking. They say the paper masks are not enough. Where can they get the better masks . Can they go to the Evacuation Centers . We heard an wet rag might be helpful if you are suffer conditions from the smoke. Those can certainly help. You can stay indoors and not go outside and travel. You can stay indoors do so. Some of the masks are not as helpful. There is a lot of smoke all over the county. In areas were there is a fire there are still a lot of smoke. Stay indoors and stay put in a safe place. Im in morin county and its terrible. The smoke is just awful there. Right. For a lot of us its not a realty. We dont have airconditioning in morin county. Local emergency evacuations would have the masks. Some pharmacies will have them. There is a list on our website. Okay, great. Well pass that information along to our viewers. Scott is with the health depart. Thank you for joining us. Thank you very much. Thank you, scott. The time is 6 50. Its effecting so many people. Where alex was just standing and heading out through calistoga. We also have closures on 128 heading towards lake berry. The san mataeo bridge is packed. I wouldnt recommend using the san mateo bridge. We have a backup that stretches for about 20 minutes. Its 6 51. Lets bring steve back. Reporter take a look at the observations there. There is a westerly wind there. Look at the humidity 75 to 70 . 56, 57 degrees. Geyserville is at 51 degrees. They have 13mile per hour winds and 51 humidity. Hillsburg there is one observation of a west wind. This is the direction we expect today which is west to northwest. 39 degrees in kelseyville. 51 in geyserville. So, alex was talking about it its pretty cool up there. Now there may not be much of a wind where hes standing but in the hills its 10 to 15 Miles Per Hour. Jeffrey wrote me andsated when i left work sacramento had that all to familiar campfire smell. Thats from the green valley fire and napa fire yesterday. Now that wind has turned west southwest and takes that smoke and sends it out to the valley. Also more importantly out towards the valley. You can see the wind direction there. American canyon is west. Westerly, westsouthwest. 94 for is a no sonoma. 52 do 49 . Remember these humidity levels were in the teens. That wind was eastnortheast. Wind advisory starts later today. It starts at 5 00 in the north bay hills. That will be more of a north northwest. Not the northeast. It will be significantly cooler compared to sunday and monday as well. We are starting in the 30s, 40s a, and 50s. A completely different set up. That system will keep us cool and breezy conditions going. Not howling northeast to 60 or 70. Its cooler and higher humidity, pam. 6 53 is the time. When we return the owner of a popular ranch returns to northing but debris. Good morning. It is 6 56. We are getting a look at one of the fires as it began late sunday night. This is a view outside of calistoga, the flames spreading north to windsor. This was taken near frans valley road with 50 Miles Per Hour winds. Here is another look at the fire outside of santa rosa. The flames were picking up, fueled by the powerful winds. This cell phone video sent in by tyler clark to show what it looked like to drive through santa rosa as the fire was growing. You see how close the flames are to the road and the eerie red grow against the dark knight sky. Incredible. We are getting a darker look at the fire near fountain grove. This was taken on old redwood highway yesterday. People have been telling me about this. Homes were destroyed. Pg e crews are trying to clean up downed power lines there. The clover tree ranch also destroyed. They were able to satisfy about 30 horses but two of the horses died. One is still missing. Everything is gone pretty much. Theres like a row of summer camp cabins that survived. But the old clover leaf camp, that whole property there, this is the office and the owners house here. Now, we were there when the owner arrived to see what was left of clover leaf ranch. Very emotional. The ranch has been a big part of the community for generations. Neighbors stepped in when it was time to evacuate. It is a big loss for my family. We just celebrated our 70th year in business. My grandparents started it. So to see what a lot of blood sweat and tears that we put into it just gone is difficult. Im really grateful for the people who helped us. Some amazing people came out of the woodwork to save our horses and get everyone out safely. Afely. Right now, pg e crews are trying to get the power back on to the area. Theyre not sure when that will happen. Well, a lot of people all over the bay area are offering to help the fire victims. I already have three different families who offered to drive stuff up to Sonoma County fairgrounds. They currently have over 300 horses. Theyre expecting many, many more. Now, while one Evacuation Center is asking for donations like dog food and diapers, others are not accepting donations. Sonoma county says Evacuation Centers are not able to accept prepared food. The former head of Emergency Services for san jose says donating money is better. One is that they can buy in bulk. So they get greatly reduced prices over what you would pay if you went to the store to buy something for the victims. The other advantage is because theyre working with victims every day, they know exactly what is needed. Now, officials in Sonoma County recommend that you call ahead to a shelter before you bring a donation. You can find a list of ways to help fire victims on ktvu. Com. Just look under web links.
