Reporter for Senate Foreign relations chairman bob corker, republican of tennessee, sunday morning meant taking his turn in the sights of President Trumps twitter fury. The president tweeted he wanted me to endorse him, i said no, so he dropped out. The president continued 9 minutes later, he also wanted to be secretary of state, i said no thanks. Hes also largely responsible for the horrendous iran deal. I would fully expect corker to be a negative voice and stand in the way of our great agenda. Didnt have the guts to run. An hour later corker shot back its a shame the white house has become an adult day care system. It looks like the drama is back, is it . No, and there wasnt much drama in the first place. As fox reporter Kristin Fisher tells us, President Trump may be dismantling obamacare piece by piece. Reporter at the same time President Trump is trying to cut a deal with democrats, hes also continuing to chip away at his predecessors Signature Health care law. The latest example of that according to the wall street journal is an executive order that would expand Insurance Options for americans who buy coverage on their own or work for a small employer, and it would also direct federal agencies to explore ways to loosen regulations and lower premiums. This comes after a new rule that would expand exemptions to the contraceptive mandate, and a day after President Trump announced hed reached out across the aisle again to try and cut a deal on the health care bill. He was asked about that call as he was leaving the white house yesterday. The president said he proposed a temporary deal, one that involved the federal government handing over money for health care directly to the states in the form of block grants. So basically if we could do a one year deal or two year deal as a temporary measure, youll have block granting ultimately to the states which is what the republicans want. Thats really a repeal and replace. Reporter theres a precedent for a bipartisan bill. Back now to breaking news out of napa county where a fire is burning on atlas peak. Mark is live with more. Reporter about an hour ago i started noticing a huge red glow in the sky. I went outside, and it was so bright i popped in the car and drove to an open area on highway 29 which is a good four or five miles away from where you call atlas peak for those of you that might be familiar. Where Silverado Country Club is in the hills of that area, and all i can tell you right now, im a good, gosh, five miles away, and there is just a strip of fire going down the mountain and north and south for miles. All im seeing is a mass of smoke and bright red flames, and my brotherinlaw lives up on top of atlas peak and hes been evacuated, and several other people that i know. I mean, we can smell smoke very strongly. Im a good five or six miles away, and the wind, you may be able to hear it in the phone, its at least 50, 60 Miles Per Hour i would say. This fire is massive right now, but im not familiar enough to tell you how many homes might be in jeopardy, frank. Mark, when you say that youre looking at the sign and see the flames, in the past hour has that strip of flames gotten larger . Reporter incredibly. I mean, when i first looked at it it was kind of like a small, red, glow and now its literally stretching for miles, and the wind is blowing so hard. I dont know, i mean, it just seemed like its spreading very, very quickly is all i can say. Mark, its heather here. You mentioned you can see the flames and smell the smoke. Are you seeing any firefighters or crews racing to the area . Reporter yes, all youre hearing is sirens going off and emergency vehicles going the direction of the flames. I have a friend who lives up there and called him to make sure hes okay, and he said are you kidding me right now . I said look out your window ed, and he did and screamed at his wife grab the dog, were out of here. He runt even aware, but wasnt even aware, but we could smell the smoke for miles. This is a massive fire. Mark, for those people that dont know, you described atlas peak a little bit, but are there a lot of houses on that hill . Reporter there are. There are a number of houses, but also as im looking at it right now, this thing is spreading north and looks to me like the wind is blowing south, so it may have started further north than silverado and that area on atlas peak, but its definitely moving in a southern direction, and kind of the scary part about it is, is that its moving spot lower areas. Into the lower areas. I can see a very high point of fire, and im talking bright red flames all the way up and down that corridor if our viewers are familiar with silverado trialo. How far is this from the central part of napa . Its a good four or five miles, but what we can tell right now is that it seems to be coming toward the lower area and again for those people familiar with the napa area, you can picture where the country club is, and that appears to me to be kind of where its headed from my standpoint, and im on, lets see, im right near silverado trail. Often times at night they dont put up planes and helicopters for safety reasons, by chance do you see any up tonight given the serious nature of this . Reporter i would say they probably have to make every effort. I was just talking about that with my wife about how theyre going to get it, even the beginnings of control because the wind is blowing so hard i cant imagine theyd send up a helicopter. It would be extremely treacherous. Im no pilot, but it doesnt look like anything youd want to go up in in a plane right now, and i can tell you there are literally, im on big ranch road for those of you who might know the area, and its parallel to the silverado trail, and there are now close to hundreds of cars driving up and down getting a view of this thing and it started they think on the 3300 block of atlas peak. They believe thats where it started. Theres a lot of people out of their cars right now watching this, and i personally have never seen a fire like this. As were talking to you, can you noticeably see it spreading . Spreading . Reporter no doubt about it. It looks like the wind is, you know, in a southerly direction. Its brisk. I can tell you. And its just the magnitude of it has grown so much in just the last half hour. Is your house in any danger mark . Reporter no, i dont think, were kind of on the other side of the freeway on the other side of 29. But i can tell you there are many, many homes that have to be in jeopardy right now. Could this potentially also be threatening the Silverado Country Club itself . Reporter well, um, you know, i would be hesitant to say that because of my vantage point, but i can tell you this thing started out very high. Lookslike it was up in the hills, and now i see bright red and smoke in a very low area, but i wouldnt want to tell you [ siren ] are those sirens in the background . Reporter yes, they are. And do you think the people gathering to look are those forced out of their homes . Reporter it very well could be. Where im parked on the side on the road with my flashers on, there are cars line up as far as you can see, and the smoke is getting thicker and thicker right now, and its just extremely windy. I was just putting my garbage cans out so im just in shorts and a shirt and its actually pretty cold. Its just billowing black smoke and bright red flames for miles. Yes, the pictures right now were actually taken about an hour ago, and just based on what youre telling us its obviously gotten a lot worse than what were seeing here, but you can see the top of the hill literally on fire. Im curious, are you seeing any cars going past you where it looks like the people are going down the hill and evacuating . Reporter not from my vantage point. I wouldnt be able to see where theyre coming from, but like i said my brotherinlaw lives up there at the top of atlas peak, and at least 30 or 40 minutes ago he was out there in a hurry. It was like get out of here, no time to gather belongings. Mark, did your brotherin law say if officials had some sort of notification on his phone or just because he looked out the window and saw what was going on and thought we need to evacuate now or people coming to his door to tell him to leave . Reporter i think it was a matter of your senses. My wife could smell the smoke, and as soon as i went outside you could definitely see a glow in the sky and heavy, heavy smoke. And the thing thats frightening about this right now is that i cant imagine they could even put a dent in this right now with the amount of manpower that would have to be alerted in such a short period of time, and like you said earlier frank, i dont know how you could put anybody in the air right now to combat that from above. What were getting from cal fire, they just updated the fire, its off atlas peak road as you negligenced, and they mentioned, and they say 200 acres have burned. How strong with the winds . On your phone we can certainly hear them. Reporter yeah, im going to say, now right as i speak the winds seemed to calm down a little bit in my area, but earlier, i mean, i would have to say at least 50 or 60 Miles Per Hour and judging by the spread of this fire it has to be worse up on that ridge above silverado. To me it looks like its very much north of atlas peak and then down south. Mark, let me ask you if i could, can you stand by for just a moment. We want to bring in our meteorologist to talk a little bit about the conditions up there. What are you seeing mark . Wind gusting around 30 to 33 Miles Per Hour, but when you get isolated peaks up there, you could have wind, projected potentially up above 50 Miles Per Hour, so up above 50 is a possibility, especially up in the north bay. This is blowing a very warm dry wind, so no moisture in the area, and as a result the fire can spread rapidly. Thats why the National WeatherService Issues warnings because if a fire were to start like its happening right now, that means rapid growth. And within the last hour this thing has already ballooned to 200 acres and folks at home, youre looking at live pictures. This is there an atlas peak, really near the silverado resort if youre familiar with the area. Thats the area our sports director mark ibanez was talking about thats being evacuated. His brotherinlaw is in that area and has left the area after seeing this right outside his home.
