Accident and the alert we just saw from caltrans is in order to get the trucks out of the way and the vehicles out of the way and to clean up the debris they may not be able to get all of the lanes reopened. These are the maps and look how long the backup is on the freeways and i want to explain about why this accident, even though it is just blocking one freeway is affecting every freeway. I got a call from someone who said even the highway through dublin getting into danville has been affected. People are also on highway 4 driving on highway 4 off of the Altamont Pass. We actually saw the traffic on the Altamont Pass disappear as people are using highway 4 to get to the bay area and it is very heavy on 680 coming through highway 24. People have been doing a lot to get out of the accident, Leigh Martinez was just moved off of the freeway where the cleanup is continuing. I can see one lane is being allowed through. Reporter that is right, they opened up one lane we have seen cars come flying by it seems that have been frustrated in traffic for hours hopefully they are being safe. We do have a semi truck that is left on the scene this is the first truck in the accident. It was fully loaded so they needed to get caltrans out here and they need a truck to replace this one to move all of this off the road. We did have the hazmat out to clean up the oil so they already left. We are making quite a bit of progress currently. This crash happened hours ago, both trucks were blocking three lanes on interstate 80 causing a threehour delay. Chp confirms this is a fatal accident the driver of the second semi truck was killed. At 4 20 there was a three vehicle inclusion code collision and early reports say that the black car may have clipped the front of the first big rig causing the first big rig to lose its steering. It then came to rest in the lane at which time the second big rig came along and did not see the vehicle was stopped and collided. Reporter . Org trucks were on scene quickly but comforting the cleanup was the first truck that was fully loaded so caltrans had to be called out to help the unloading process. Traffic was redirected on the off ramp of eden canyon road and from there the cars could get back on the highway going across. Looking back at this live picture one lane is open directing traffic they are using cones so they are not going right on the highway they are going on the shoulder first. Traffic is being redirected just to one lane so it is not helping a lot. It is like one artery and again we do have some congestion going eastbound possibly some lucky people headed eastbound, chp is hopeful to get this cleared up by noon. They cant commit to a time because the cleanup is taking a lot more time than expected. Leigh martinez live thank you. It looks like the avenue you have never seen it closed and neither have i come i never seen that major street closed. Reporter i went to high School Across the street and i dont recall a time. I dont recall a time that this street has been closed. We have actually moved down to lower plaza in front of zeller box all this is the site of protest that was planned for later today it is unclear how that will develop. This morning we watched as crews were laying out rails and blocking streets, we can tell you that vancroft is closed and telegraph avenue itself is also closed from durant to the university. Crews laid out those rails to help manage the flow of people and vehicles, all of this a few yards from where we are standing. Ben shapiro spoke here last year there was little fanfare but this time certainly shaping up to be a different story since his last visit, the Campus Community has been rocked by protests including one aimed at blocking the speech from another conservative speaker. Students say the campus is very tense. I think campus is being used as a punching bag and battleground by these far right activists. So i think the general student population feels a little immobilized. Reporter that student says she is a ticketholder for the speech later today and she will be attending the talk tonight and will be asking some very pointed questions. Police are trying to reduce violence by controlling access to the area and officers will fence off perimeters around the hall and nearby buildings starting at 4 00 this afternoon. Ticketholders will be allowed in from Access Points the city has implemented a ban on sticks pipes or holes in the area so people cant make weapons. You can see the icons here on the cal campus shapiro will take the stage at 7 00 this evening and we will have coverage throughout today and we will be attending a briefing around noon. We understand the police chief on campus will be speaking as well as a spokesperson from the university. We will get a better sense on what they are expecting today and the perforations underway. Back to you guys. Earlier this week police were approved for the use of pepper spray against people who attacked officers but not for crowd control right . Reporter that is right, this is something new for berkeley it has been years since they used pepper spray but they are limited in how they can use it. They can use it to stop somebody from attacking or acting aggressively toward officers or if they are attacking somebody else. They have said they are not planning on using pepper spray and they have not been allowed to use it to disperse the crowd. Six months later her view has improved, san bruno street still has campers but most of them have moved out. There has been an improvement but the problem has not been solved. I happy there has been a response but at the same time there is still a ton of crime happening. She swiped their damage in the parking lot from last night car windows broken and a stolen laptop, garbage is still a big issue and Homeless People trying to come back in with no plans of moving. The city has managed to get 100 campers out of the neighborhood and into safe housing. We are not looking to sweep people or clear people but we are looking to make lasting resolutions so people are able to begin their journey. While leaders are doing their best to find housing for homeless some Business Owners disagreed they say the homeless are just packing up and setting up camp two blocks down. Reggie works at an upscale furniture and a sword design store on alameda street. We all work in this area and we see them navigating the neighborhoods from doubt down alameda and san bruno avenue. Oakland mayor libby schaaf is glad to keep the team in town without spending public money but some believe the justification is already causing problems they think the stadium might hurt the area and others say it is a great location but the pros all still must be approved by the Community College district we are joined by the as president dave cavil. You admit this is not a shovel ready deal you still need to secure that piece of land those 13 acres how confident are you that you will be able to get the land . The next 9 to 12 months we will engage in open public dialogue with the board the different stakeholders to make sure we come up with a plan that everyone can move forward with. This open process is important. We want open events and town halls so people can have a say in the design. When the giants build their stadium every member covering people who were against it and then years later somebody i interviewed who did not want it they wanted it. So what do you think . Because opponents can be converted. Absolutely it is about making them part of the process. Everyone should have a deal in this it is a huge deal to have the stadium right downtown. It can transform the city positively we need to Work Together and we need to have opinions from everyone. What about the private financing . The fact that the raiders werent getting money from the city is in large part what pushed them to las vegas. We are going to privately financed the ballpark. Certainly the corporate base is important, when we looked at the site the cost of the facility and the economics of the team we feel we can privately financed, it is the strongest of all of the sites and that was one of the reasons one of the key reasons we picked it. For us it is privately financed there will be no taxpayer investment in the ballpark. Are you looking at the other sites that you turned down . Do you have a people couple people in the Organization Holding on . No, we are focused on peralta and we are focused on building an urban youth academy. Are you at liberty to say what it is about this site that you like. What didnt this site at the terminal not have . We liked the transportation in pearl to you have a bart station with easy access to the 880. You have the bart line coming from international it is a transportation nexus and that helps in terms of getting people in and out. Let me ask you of the concerns many neighbors have. You know about the concerns as there are low income residents and people who have lived in the neighborhood for a long time and they are now worried. So, they feel like they are being forced out as prices rise in the area. What reassurance can you give people who live and work in the community . It is a big issue for us that is why any plan needs to include robust affordable housing. We also immediately are working with the mayor to implement interim controls there is legislation that can be done at city hall and finally we will invest in tenant education and landlord education to make sure people dont get taken advantage of. The team on the field, if you build a new stadium does that mean you are relying on revenue to get a team that is maybe more competitive compared to the team in the last few years . The ballpark is the key to returning Young Players we have a great track record of getting Young Players but we have not been able to keep them. The ballpark will bring a better revenue and higher payroll so we can send them to longer contracts. I was in a situation where it wasnt going to have my daughter because i didnt think i could take care of her so i was thinking of ending my pregnancy so to fastforward and see where this ended up we started making headbands and it turned into something that now gives back to so many more people. It brings me to tears because now we focus on helping those people that were in my situation. It is a beautiful thing. You did something most new moms do. You made headbands for your daughter tell me about the feedback you were getting at the Grocery Store and gas station. I have been really surprised people would say where did you get the headband and the first few times i was shocked if you look at this it is really not that great but it happened so many times that was the nugget i held onto so when it was time to go back to work i thought maybe i can do this for a couple months like you said i was homeless i moved in with Family Members. I started doing it and it took off. As we look at the fruits of your labor with the different headbands did you make a Business Plan did you get an attorney . Or was this stuff at night when she was sleeping . I did not have a Business Plan or any money this was me surviving and it was my passion my heart and my faith that kept me going. On year three i really started to map out what my goals and dreams. So now you are very successful, i asked because you have such Humble Beginnings you had nothing to your name yet you have everything out can you still shake the feeling of well i have enough how will i pay for this . Being a mother and taking care families and the motherly instinct there is something within me that can hold me in the place of i have to be careful with my money even though i have more now but there is a piece of that that has been helpful and it is never forgetting where you came from. Twice recently oken was hit first a catastrophic fire were 36 people were killed and then flames destroyed a building on san pablo avenue. Four people died in that fire and 80 were displaced. In both tragedies two religious leaders did more than pray the father from Saint Benedict church and reverend debra avey from first presbytery and offered support. The father spend days at the scene of the ghost ship fire providing first aid. Reverend avey opened her church to the survivors of the san pablo fire. For connecting to those beyond their communities in the church the two are being honored as the First Responder and Disaster Service heroes. So many people wanted to try to find a way to help the families of the victims and the Oakland Athletics Community Fund was instrumental, 9000 was raised and distributed.
