Today there was several explosions at the plant in crosby and that sent more than two dalvin dozen deputies to the hospital with breathing problems. The plant was already under six feet of water from the rains unleashed by harvey prompting officials to have a large evacuation zone. Teams worked to locate and get help to storm victims. Many of the people have been stranded for days and floodwaters are going up in some parts of texas and crews and beaumont were forced to evacuate patients from one of the busiest hospitals earlier today. We head 193 patients at last night at midnight and we got a call at 1 am telling us they lost city water. Vice president mike pence was in texas to get a look at the damage and meet with victims. He has been through this before and as you look this way, this is our ride and this is how we got into texas. This town of 9000 people is an island and to completely cut off and surrounded by floodwaters from the Colorado River. Not that Colorado River on the california border and the one that runs through the grand canyon but a different one. These vehicles from the National Guard are the ones that are rolling rescuers in and out and in the back of the truck in addition to the rescuers they also have the boats because they cannot bring them in because there is dry spots on the roadway and flooded areas. I can see there is a boat in the back of this truck along with rescuers using the boats to get out and check for people who might be dropped and we believe there is there is a lot of people trapped here. I want to show you pictures that we shopped shot as we came in today on the back of the truck. The water was four feet deep and you cant get through that in a normal vehicle. You have to have a special break it to make it through. It took a while and the roads were wet and flooded. As we got into town we met up with the battalion chief from the east bay who told us what the plan was for the search and rescue team. We got maps of the tent and we started to look where was most impacted and use the resources and we put a plan to gather. You have the boats out there. We have six task force from all of the country. Currently involved and we are working to gather unilaterally as a team and weve got 25 votes on the water. There are dry spots in this town and residents are hanging out waiting to see how they can get evacuated. There are buses standing by. There have been some flights by choppers but most are being loaded into the trucks. One woman seems to be in desperate straits. She has dialysis and has not been able to do it. The closest hospital is 35 miles away without flooding. I feel well but i am weary from being up so long. Usually i sit on my recliner ordinate down. You need to get dialysis. How long can you wait . I dont know. I dont feel bad. This is the first time i have done this. You dont want to keep going too long without it . No. I dont want to wind upset. Wind up sick. I dont know. It back again live and it looks like the truck turned around and went back to assist the man in the pickup truck or stalled out in the water. They will get out and try to push them out of the deep part. Is it front of city hall. They are pushing him out. I dont know if the engine is running or he will be able to keep going once he gets into the area that is not deep. This is one of the ongoing flood concerns across texas and right now this town needs a lot of help. California firefighters are here providing the help and it is needed. Back to you guys. They are waiting for the water to go down so the roads will be cleared so they can get the vehicles in and out. It is hard to get anything in here unless it is on one of those big giant military trucks. The people that are here have to go out that way and that is why people did not want to leave the. They have had floods before but this was worse. The Colorado River has flooded that the creek in the area that did not flood before also flooded and the storm system backed up into the street and you have all of the water all over the area. I want to show you one more thing. I just grabbed this stick. This water is nasty but this is about 18 inches or so. This is where it starts to slope and get deeper. What can we do right now to change the course of this . Since 2014 the task force dedicated to task breakins has made 400 arrest. The incidents have gone up 28 from one year ago. A new strategy has come up to dissolve its successful task force and shrinking the narcotics unit and taking 100 officers and putting them back on the street. Citywide we had less than 100 fulltime officers assigned to the beat. That number will almost double. At mission station the foot patrol will quadruple because it is seen a 102 182 jump in burglaries. It does not mean we will have plane closed operations. Some members have expressed frustration that the thieves are being released from jail to reoffend. We have issues that go beyond what we can control.
