Today the Palo Alto City Council is scheduled to consider raising the citys minimum wage. Palo alto does not have a city wide minimum wage law now but businesses have to pay the mandated wage of 9 an hour. They will discuss paying 11 an hour starting in january. The city is trying to unite all cities in Santa Clara County to set a regional minimum wage of 15 an hour by the year 2018. San jose police are searching for two suspects in a deadly shooting overnight. Police were called to lavon avenue around midnight after neighbors reported hearing gunfire. Officers arrived and found a man shot at least once lying on the ground near his suv. Witnesses saw two men running away. I heard four shots, gunshots, and my son came knocking on my door and asked me if i heard the shots. I said yeah. Dad, thats so close. I heard some lady saying oh, my god. Oh, my god. The victim in the killing has not been identified. The suspects managed to escape despite a Police Manhunt by helicopter and foot. Theres not a motive for the killing. Its the citys 20th homicide this year. A 3yearold girl continues to recover after being hurt in a driveby shooting in east oakland. The child was in a parked car on 77th avenue with two adults when someone hoped opened fire on saturday night. She suffered a gunshot to the chest. A man was shot in the arm. Both victims are expected to survive. Police have not identified or arrested any suspects. Police in vallejo are investigating a deadly shooting in that city. It was reported after 12 00 yesterday afternoon. Officers found a 21yearold man who had been shot. They say he died at a nearby hospital. Police are asking for any witnesses to come forward. Well, it was one year ago today that a strong earthquake shook the napa area. The quake was the largest in the area since the loma prieta earthquake in 1989. One death was linked to the quake and damaged hundred of buildings, buckled roads and sparked fires. As alex savidge tells us, the recovery effort has been slow but steady. This building withstood the quake but the brick structures on either side crumbled during the shaking. This area was cordoned off. We were the one business open. It was tough for a while. Construction crews are still restoring the stone facade that collapsed last okay. Even a year after the earthquake, theres still a lot of work to be done in napa. This is an Historic Building on brown street downtown, a brick blil more than 160 building more than 160 years old. It was heavily damaged when the shaking happened. Crews are still in the process of pulling this place apart brick by brick. They will save the bricks and repurpose them. But the building is a total loss and will have to be defollowished. Demolished. This team is the second contractor brought in on this job and they say it will be a slow process mainly because of the age of the building. Reporter how much longer until its done . No evacuations have been ordered. No word of injuries. The cause is under investigation. A fire burning in the San Bernardino mountains is threatening hundred of homes. The summit fire started yesterday afternoon in big bear near snow summit ski resort. As of this morning, the fire has bushed about 100 acres burned about 100 acres. Its 50 contained. Evacuation orders remain in effect. Water cannons from the ski restore are being pointed in the direction of the fire. Firefighters in washington continue to battle more than a dozen wildfires. Ocean researchers docked in San Francisco over the weekend to show how they plan to clean up the garbage in the ocean. The ocean star is docked at pier 30 along the embarcadero. It just rushed from a voyage where researchers mapped what is known as the Great Pacific garbage patch. They said they picked up so much trash they ran out of room on board to store it. Around the bay, we have upper 60s to near 70 degrees. 68 in oakland. San francisco, 65. And to the north bay, 66, santa rosa. 72 in sneap. 66 for half moon bay. The ridge of High Pressure over the Desert Southwest is gonna be strengthening over the bay. Inland communities are getting back in the low 90s. I think tuesday will be the warmest day. By the second half of the week, things start to change. Take a look at saturday. May be looking at the possibility of a little bit of rain. Several days out well track it for you.
