Were very thankful. Reporter beverly said she was putting glasses away in a cabinet when the quake hit just before 7 00 this morning. It could have been bad. But it worked out fine. It was and it woke up everyone in the house. But, you know, it was kind of a roll and a knock. Reporter and the 4. 0 quake kept First Responders busy. Piedmont firefighters are housed in a 1 hunyearold building which is why 100 yearold building which is why they pulled out of engines out of the station. To check for possible damage and aftershocks wont damage our fire apparatus inside the building. Reporter crews drove around town looking for damage and checking for gas and water leaks. Didnt find any of those problems. This morning piedmont public works crews took a look at this bridge over linda avenue. There was a crack spotted in the concrete. Its unclear if that was a result of the shaking. Bridge has not been closed but city crews will do further inspections on it later today. Maureen naylor is live in sunnyvale with new details. Reporter the press conference wrapped up about 45 minutes ago. They say one of their officers fearing for his life shot and killed a suspect. There are three suspects involved. One is dead. One has been arrested and one is on the run. I want to show you a picture of the man they say is on the run. This is 19yearold Shawn Lamont Brown from fresno. They consider him arm and dangerous. They say they think hes left the sunnyvale area. Hes wanted for a homicide after a deadly shooting in fresno county. Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911. They say brown was one of three suspects police found in a jaguar saturday around 4 00 a. M. When they were called to the motel 6 about a suspicious activity. They say they took off running. Brown, he got away. The other man was cornered by police and ultimately an 18 Year Police Veteran hoped fire shooting nine rounds at close range killing that man. Police say recovered two loaded handguns near the suspect the one near his body. Another in his backpack. While initially details were scarce, police provided new information as to what they say happened. The officer confronted the suspect in the bushes less than ten feet were anticipating, and he ordered him to drop the weapon. Suspect made motion at the handgun toward the officer. And the officer fired. If somebody spoient points a gun if somebody spoients a points a gun at a situation, its a dangerous situation but we dont like taking someones life either. Reporter this is the suspect. Was wanted for Domestic Violence out of san diego county. Hes now in the santa clara jail. Police say the initial call came from two women. This is the fifth often in sunnyvale in the past eight years. The officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave which is custom marary. Customary. One man is dead after a confrontation with police. Sources are telling ktvu that last night at 10 00, officers from the covert Response Unit were tracking the suspect related to a recent homicide. It happened last week at a Business Park on lundy avenue. They made scak with him at a strip small on centralled into near capitol expressway. Police say he reached for his gun and thats when officers fired striking him. The man died at the scene. Police are asking the public to them find the person who shot and killed two people crudding a mother. Police released this Surveillance Video of a black truck that done linked to the driveby shooting that could be linked to driveby shooting. Police say the woman was trying to protect her children when she was hit by a stray bullet. A 38yearold map was kilted. A 44yearold woman was shot but she survived. Police are asking anyone with information to call them. From napa to monterey, sunday was a recordsetting day for heat in the bay area. In San Francisco, the high for the day was 90 degrees. Thats 6 Degrees Higher than the record set in 1994. Napa also set a record topping out at 104. Records were set in oakland, san jose, san ref fell, gilroy and Mountain View. Crews battling Northern California wildfires arent getting a break from this hot weather. But they are making progress. Checked in with calfire. They say the jerusalem is now 90 contained. That fire has burned over 25,000 acres up in lake and napa counties. Its destroyed nine homes. All evacuations and road closures, though, in the area have been lifted. The nearby rocky fire was contained last week. But even with the progress on the fires. Calfire says the fire risk will remain high for months. Unfortunately, it doesnt matter if the temperatures are going up or down, the conditions are so dry that they remain the same and our fire risk will remain elevated well into the fall and really until we get a good amount of rain.
