I looked out in my garden and i heard some shots. Reporter for shots, then sirens. Suddenly the streets were swarming. They had armored vehicles. Reporter cell phone pictures show the firepower Police Brought to the neighborhood. Agencies join me in joining in on a manhunt. They search the houses around and i feel good they protected us. Reporter it began in a jaguar outside the motel 6. The men ran across the street to this industrial area. One slipped away, the other was shot and killed. Blake police say they found a gun near him and another in his backpack. They also say he dropped ammunition on the ground as he chased them. He had weapons, and he shouldnt have. Thats against the law. He was threatening the police with it. Reporter police are not detailing exactly what provoked the shooting or what was suspicious about the men to begin with. Streets reopened after six hours and the search evaporated with no answers. He has to be long gone. It was disturbing, but you felt oddly safe. There were someone armed and dangerous still at large. Reporter residents attempted to keep their windows open, but some may be leery. Its disconcerting, definitely, but sunnyvale is a pretty safe laced a live. Hopefully its an anomaly. Reporter the description on the missing suspect, and africanamerican man wearing blue jeans and a red or orange shirt. Still no identity on the dead man, but he is in his 20s and is africanamerican. Heather, it is sunnyvales second Fatal Police Shooting in four months. I know we will learn more tomorrow, but do you have any idea whether the officers involved were wearing body cameras . Reporter as it turns out, sunnyvale officers do not wear body cameras. The department is in the process now of purchasing them. We do know the officer who fired the shot is a veteran officer with 18 years on the force. As you said, these are questions that are sure to come up tomorrow at the press conference. The jerusalem fires fire is 80 contained. The rocky fire was 100 contained last week. Evacuation center been lifted. Right now, there are 18 wildfires and 14,000 firefighters on the lines. Tonight we talked to cal fire spokesman who said we should expect fires for months. Unfortunately, it doesnt matter if the temperature goes up or down. The temperatures are so dry that conditions are so dry it will remain the same. Cal fire tells us progress was made over the weekend in northern california, but southend Southern California saw activity. This is on interstate 5 n. Of los angeles. Three structures were destroyed and hundreds of acres burned. We saw the triple threat of heat and low humidity. The risk that could top turn a small fire into a much bigger event. Just so i can go to the facts, this happened on a tuesday in january at the end of the month. It occurred around 4 15 in the afternoon. What happened so far as we could tell was that there was a driveby shooting involving two vehicles. The victim vehicle was driving and happened to pass by a womans house. The vehicle with the shooter or shooters was following the victim vehicle and as the suspect vehicle past the victim vehicle, multiple shots were fired into the victim vehicles car. Unfortunately, people inside the car were shot. One of them died as result of his wounds. A stray were around round hit a bystander outside the front of her house while playing with her kid. Is a tragic situation for multiple perspectives. We are still looking for the suspects involved in this incident. We were able to obtain security footage that shows the shooter vehicle following the victim vehicle in the area where the woman was shot in front of her house by the stray round. What we are looking for right now is the location of the suspect vehicle, which is you can see in the video is a black pickup. Reporter so youre looking for a black pickup, and you got a pretty good look at it . No license plate . Unfortunately, we could not obtain the license plate from the video. So far as we can tell, it appears to be a dodge pickup truck, black. It seems to be a newer model as well. Reporter could you hear how many shots were fired . There were multiple shots fired in rapid succession. [ gunshots ] the shots that were fired illustrate to me and us involved in the investigation a serious lack of concern, i think, for the citizens in the area. Police say the teenager was killed just before 2 00 this morning on foothill boulevard near san antonio park. Investigators say he was walking with trends when someone walk by and began shooting. 15 minutes earlier, 32yearold man was gunned down near broadway dear near downtown. He died at scene. Another shooting this morning critically wounded woman in a parked car on international boulevard. No names have been released. So far there have been no arrests. The 18 day search for a suspected killer and kidnapper has come to an end. The man was shot and killed in the high desert east of bakersfield. Two deputies opened fire on ben Schuman Ashley last night when he pulled out a hand, handgun during a confrontation. Sheriff said he may have shot himself after he was wounded by the deputies. Ashley is suspected of killing three in twin oaks. All managed to escape. Is it suspected of firing on two deputies, wounding one of them. Officials tracked him down after the owner of a Convenience Store reported that a man mashing his description and bought 100 worth of junk food. We sent deputies out. He engaged the officers with a firearm. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow to determine who fired the shots and killed ashley. This is one of the largest manhunts in Current County history.
