And finally san mateo bridge no major problems as you approach the highrise into foster city. Lets go back to the desk. We are following developing news in santa cruz. Police found the body of what appears to be the missing eight yearold girl madyson middleton. Her body was found in a trash bin. A 15yearold boy who lives in that apartment complex is being questioned thousand by the police. He was arrested around the same time the body was found. Its horrible. Its awful. As i said when i first announced that we found her its heartbreaking. The last time i stood in front of a group like this and spoke was when my woman officers were killed and it feels just like it did that night. Terrible. Right now the police are not saying how the 15yearold boy may be connected to mady son. Janine de la vega is there. She will bring us a lye report in just a bit. This morning there are nine major wild fires burning around the state. Crews have responded to 5200 fires on state and federal land so far this year. That is 500 more than this time last year. The total size of the area burned is actually a little smaller. Now the lull fire which is burning near grass valley is still threatening about 2,000 homes. There are mandatory evacuation orders in place for several communities. The fire has burned 1700 acres and just 25 contained but some homeowners are already thanking firefighters for what they have done. One man said retar dent has left his property a bright pink. Better to have a pink house or a pink yard than no house or no yard at all. We are thankful for that. Cal fire is predicting full containment by saturday if weather conditions dont change too much. Four firefighters have been hurt fighting the fire but three of them have been released from the hospital. The cause is still under investigation. Fire investigators arrested one person for arson after a fast moving fire in sacramento county. Flames threatened several homes in the town of allover doe which is is north of sacramento. That fire is fully contained now but crews are staying on the fire lines over night and this morning watching for any flairups. The fire burned 430 acres, one home and six cars and a tractor. People who live nearby say they were surprised how quickly the flames came forward them. We saw the fire coming toward our direction and we thought the fire trucks were going to contain it because it was like this wall of fire coming at us. It just went nuts. Fire crews were able to keep the flames away from some horses and cattles out in the fields. Some ranchers moved their animals to evacuation centers. The hot weather that increases fire danger is also contributing to the first spare the air alert for the season. The bay area air Quality Management district is forecasting unhealthy conditions today. Officials are encouraging people to walk, bike, or take Public Transit instead of driving today. If you do have to drive, try to go in a car pool. Happening now searching the Russian River for a missing man. They believe the unsatisfied man may have drowned near sunset beach. People have left balloons and candles to remember the little girl. Police are focused on getting into the apartment of the suspect who lives here too. At around 8 00 p. M. A detective made the discovery of the body in the dumpster. Police swarmed the complex and sealed it off as a crime scene. A 15yearold boy was taken away in handcuffs. He is being interviewed by police. Investigators were working on obtaining search warrants for the apartment that he lives in here. Neighbors describe him as a nice, well liked boy. The chief did not comment on why they believe the teen is responsible for her death. I dont know if they know each other. The suspect does reside on the property. It appears based on what we know now there are no more outstanding suspects. Until we interview people involved, we wont know. There are various places throughout the complex where we have seen people who have left flowers and candles for mady. Now there is surveillance cameras inside the complex. Which is an Artist Community that captured an image of mady on her white razor scooter on sunday night. They had searched the complex yesterday and the the day before. The wooded areas. I saw a yawning man being arrested and i saw the Police Response very quickly. The young man was not resisting. He was not being aggressive nor was the police. It was textbook if you will. Reporter some flowers and a candle was left in the courtyard where mady was last seen. Surveillance cameras inside the complex which is an Artist Community did capture an image of mady on her scooter around 5 00 sunday night. That is the last known image that police have of her. Law enforcement searched the complex sunday night and all day monday as well as wooded areas in the river and on the beaches. They do not believe the dumpsters had been searched previously but that will become part of the information. This will be an emotional and tough day for people as they wake up and hear the news. In fact many bay point. Take a look as firefighters battle a brush fire. Strong winds were pushing these flames across dry hillsides there. Contra costa county firefighters moved in and were able to contain this fire to 37 acres before it got close to any homes in that area. There was another fire that broke out yesterday as well. Up in santa rosa. A neighboring home caught fire and gutted by those flames. Apparently this was two power lines that came together and this sent sparks down on to the dry grass below. And obviously the weather conditions making things very difficult for fire crews this time of year. The hot, dry conditions also have homeowners thinking a lot more about their defensible space. Even low grass that you dont think would burn because its only like a foot high, once its dry it goes very quickly. And in this neighborhood we get a lot of wind. San jose police will put extra Police Officers in high crime areas after an especially violent weekend in that city. Two men were killed, four others were shot and wounded. And then in another case a man with a knife was wounded. San ho has reported san jose has reported seven homicides in the past several weeks. A San Francisco family is struggling to stay in their home after their landlord served them with an eviction notice for not paying rent. Three Senior Citizens including two who are disabled live in the excelsior district home with three children. The family says they have proof they are up to date on all of their rent payments but the landlord says they owe 6,000 in back rent. The family contacted the arch diocese of San Francisco to help fight this decision. Witness testimony is set for the next two or three days in sinbads lawsuit against the city of San Francisco. The owner of the waterfront restaurant were claimed they were mind sided. Now they want to stay there. The coast guard search is focusing on the waters of northeast florida. Finally taking a look at the dublin interchange where traffic speeds are moving slow and do. 24 miles an hour is the average speed on 580 from 205 to the first street spring boulevard exit. The forecast models continue to be very, very bullish. Most of them. That will have greater than 90 chance that will continue through the end of this year but into spring of next year. However, it doesnt mean we are going to get rain. It does not. I repeat. I mean it does not. The jet stream possible. I mean if everything came together. But there is a lot going on. There is very warm water up in the pacific northwest. Been there is a long time. Even up in the gulf of alaska. There is this warm blob. Im not trying to make light of it. Its been there for a long time and we really dont know how that will influence our weather. Its colder off our coast than it is on most of washington and oregon. Were in the mid 60s on the water temps. We have low to mid 50s. And what is here now doesnt mean its going to be that strong down the road. So we will see. The lows are very cool because the ocean temps are very cool and the fog is not there. So youre seeing 50 degrees at halfmoon bay. Some 60s and a couple low 70s already. Most locations are running within a degree or two. Santa rosa is 12 degrees cooler because it lost that north breeze. There is a slight puff of an east for some. West for others.
