Thats where we find Azenith Smith with the latest on the search. Reporter i want to show you a picture of 8yearold maddy, imagine if this was your little girl. Everyone keeps saying this is a parents worst nightmare. Police have enlisted the help of the fbi and the Santa Cruz CountySheriffs Office and the state Emergency Services all to try to find this little girl. Now just around 10 00 this morning, police briefed us and they told us they do not believe any foul play happened. There have been no signs of foul play. They are not calling this a case of kidnapping but rather a case of a missing lost girl. Her family has been cooperative. Police are hoping shes simply at a friends house but they have not seen or heard her. We want to show you an image from Surveillance Video from the apartment complex that captured maddy riding her scooter when she disappeared around 5 last night. Her disappearance trigger an all out response from the police and the tightknit community of santa cruz who have taken to social media to find maddy. Police have searched the woodlands, the park area and the river levy near the complex. A k9 had picked up maddys scent near the beach. Theyre spanning their 4mile radius search area today. Of course weve expanded the radius of the search. The complex area where she initially went missing has been thoroughly searched and well be searching it again. We have water craft. We have aircraft. We have, again, foot patrol out in process right now looking for maddy. And again, police want us, the media to keep putting maddys picture out there. Maddy is 4foot tall, weighs 48 pounds, she was last seen wearing a purple knee high dress with black leggings and a black baseball style helmet. Her long brown hair was pulled to the side in braid. Police do not believe she ran away. They have not issued an amber alert because it did not fit that criteria. She was not taken away in a car. Police want everyone to be vigilant and on alert, and if they do see her do not hesitate to call Santa Cruz Police or 9 11. Its amazing how in times like this social media can really come into play. I mean, that little girls picture all over twitter right now. Right, and santa cruz here, they have a Great Community and they have takeback santa cruz which is an organization that basically all the Community Members are a part of, and like i said santa cruz is very tight knit. Weve seen volunteers out here. We know volunteers are out there looking for her at the apartment complex, and were hoping to meet up with search teams and find the latest on the search for maddy. Everybody trying to bring her home. Thank you. To the east bay and developing news in berkeley where streets are closed and police are searching for an armed robber. You can see s. W. A. T.
