Back to the desk. The search is underway in santa cruz for a missing 8year old girl. She was last seen yesterday evening playing outside of her home. Then she vanished. Janine de la vega is live in santa cruz. Reporter we are waiting to get an update from police. The last we heard from a Police Officer was that one of the kines kibs may have picked up 8yearold Madyson Middletons k9s may have picked up 8yearold Madyson Middletons accident but it stopped there. The scooter and helmet she was riding have not been spotted. She was last seen riding that white scooter on river street around document. She was wearing a purple dress, black leggings, a black helmet. Her hair was in a braid. Surveillance video shows her around 5 05 at the complex. But has not been seen since. She was reported missing at 6 00 p. M. We did see police escorting a woman as neighbors identified as her mother. Officers appeared to be giving her an update. Officers searched the complex where she lived, including the woodlands, parks and levees. They are following all leads include people who have called in possible sightings. Authorities dont think shes a runway. She doesnt have a history of that. Were expecting to get an update in the next hour. Were told police are working on printing more fliers with her picture on t they also have it on on it. They also have it on the Santa Cruz Police departments Facebook Page and are sharing it and hope this will get the word out. If police dont think madyson is a runaway, do they think someone else is involved in her disappearance . Firefighters still battling flames all across northern california. Calfire crews are spread out from the sierra down into the bay area fighting several firefighters. These flames have damaged buildings and forced mandatory evacuations. In nevada county, firefighters are battling a wildfire. Its going after almost 2,000 homes. Several hundred people have had to evacuate. Four firefighters have been hurt fighting the lowell fire. Calfire says one of the firefighters suffered serious burs. The other three are expected to be released from a hospital soon. So far the fire has burned 1500 acres. As of last night it was only 15 contained. The cause is still under investigation. The bureau of Land Management has installed four cameras on remote mountain peaks in nevada. The goal is to spot wives faster wildfires faster, especially in those unpopulated areas where fires can burn for several hours or even several days before anybody reports them. They are being called 21st century fire watch towers. One of the of the cameras recently spotted the fire more than 100 miles away in oregon. Funerals will be held in louisiana for two women killed last week in a Movie Theater ram page. The two women were killed last thursday when a man suddenly started to shoot inside a crowded Movie Theater. He wounded nine other people before killing himself. There is a little northerly breeze for some. The water temps went cold really fast from about 60 to 53, 55. That played into a cooler forecast and lows. Half moon bay made it to 51. One observer in San Francisco had 55. I saw 57. Going 74 today. Easing into this, im not completely sold on this. But it will be warmer this week but the biggest jump will be the inland temps. Fog begins favoring areas south of San Francisco and the breeze which was out of the west or over the weekend has now turned more northwest. You are seeing 50s, 60s, almost 70 degrees. Be aware of that. Overall past the toll plaza, not too bad. Highway 4 through the pittsburgh baypoint area, sluggish through the willow pass grade. Finally there is a new accident to tell you about, northbound 208. The northbound onramp, all lanes are blocked because of this accident there. So that may definitely not looking good for our peninsulas. Well give you another update during our next traffic hit. Were finding out more of the victim of a deadly shooting in a horrible crash in vallejo. Alex savidge is join us live to tell us what you found out from a Family Member of the victim, alex . Reporter well, dave, good morning. Friends and relatives are telling us the victim in the case was a hardworking young man. 23 years old. He lived here in vallejo. A recent college graduate. Now, last night he was found slumped over inside the drivers seat of a car that veered off the road and slammed into three other parked cars in the area. You can see the force, the impact from this crash when the car smashed into the other areas including the acura. Earlier, the victims cousin came by this crash scene. Just got a job at the of hospital. Just graduated. Reporter neighbors nearby heard a loud boom last night. That led to a number of 911 calls on redwood parkway close to glenview circle. There was another caller who called 911 to report hearing gunfire in the area as well. Actually about a block or so away from here. This was all about 10 00 last night. Vallejo Police Officers rushed out here to the scene and they found that black acura that smashed into those three parked cars. The driver of that acura was shot to death. One neighbor told us that after hearing the impact, he rushed to the crash to try to help out. I went to tend to the driver. He was already laid over into the passenger seat and from the beginning, it was just the accident but i seen he had blood all down his shirt. But the passenger side got the worse of it and then they were talking about gunshots and i kind of put two and two together. Reporter police have not officially released the name of the victim but friends and relatives are telling us who the man is. No arrests have been made so far in this case. Investigators say they need more witnesses to come forward. They need to find out exactly what led up to this shooting last night. The shooting that left a 23 yearold young man from vallejo dead. The victims cousin who we spoke with for a brief time hold told me this young man didnt have any enemies that he knew of. All right. Thank you. A man was killed after he got out of his car on a south San Francisco freeway and then was hit by several vehicles. This happened yesterday morning on highway 101 near the sierra point parkway offramp. The chp said the mans car was stopped on the southbound side but his body was found in the northbound lanes. Authorities havent released his name but say he was . His late 30s and lived in san mateo. They are still cleaning up from the wildfire in clearlake that burned eight acres and damaged three buildings. It happened right behind the catch creek apartment complex. Fire caused minor damage to the nearby aim complex but it heavily apartment complex but it heavily damaged two homes. It moved quickly to the trees, all the way over to spreads to the b building, wrapped back up toward walmart. Calfire teamed up with local Fire Agencies to put out the fire. 100 firefighters were on the scene. No one was hurt. Fire crews have made significant progress on the fire burning up near lake berryessa. The fire has bushed less acreage than initially thought. We now know the fire has bushed through 6600 acres. Was first thought to burn near 7,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. And and the kyburz has burned 100 acres. Highway 50 was shut down while firefighters battled the flames but the road was reopened on friday. One campground in the area still closed. The cause of this fire under investigation. Well, San Francisco police and the San Mateo County Sheriffs Office are investigating an officer involved shooting near sfo. San Francisco Police got a call about a possible hit and run near san bruno avenue yesterday morning. It turns out that white sedan was stolen. An officer responding spotted the suspect trying to carjack snore driver. Police say the man ran onto highway 101 tried to get into several stopped cars. Thats when a Police Officer opened fire. One shot is fired. It does not strike the suspect. The suspect continues. One of the other officers can hear the suspect saying shoot me, shoot me, shoot me. Well, a second shot hit the man. He was taken to the hospital listed in stable condition. Part of that highway was shut down for several hours. 7 37. Family and friends gathered in walnut creek last night to remember 19yearold clair ortop. She was shot and clair orton. She was shot and killed by her boyfriend last week. She was a longdistance runner. She made the deans list at san diego state. She always pushed us town better a and work better and Work Together as a team. A lot of us looked up to her. Her former boyfriend, 21 yearold Scott Bertics had taken a leave from the university for undisclosed reasons. After shooting orton, he turned the gun on himself. Friends say the breakup was friendly and there didnt seem to be a reason for her to be afraid. Joe jackson, the father of michael jackson, has suffered a stroke in brazil. He was admitted to a hospital. Hes in icu and is suffering from an irregular heartbeat. At this point, we dont know his his exact exact his exact condition. He was not able to go to the party because he was already in the hospital. Family members and friends are mourning the death of Bobbi Kristina brown, the daughter of bobby brown and Whitney Houston. She passed away yesterday at the age of 22. Back on january 31st police were notified of a medical emergency at her home in georgia. She was found unresponsive face down in a bathtub. Paramedics were able to resuscitate her but she never fully recovered. Authorities say interpreting the autopsy findings will be hard because of the time lapse between being found unresponsive and passing away. There have been accusations that her boyfriend had nothing to do with her had something to do with her death. A haught has been filed against lawsuit has been filed against her boyfriend claiming he took thousands of dollars away from her without permission. High pressure is building in from the desert southwest. The problem im having. There is a huge difference in some of the projected high term high temps. If the temps come in above my forecast highs, well jump on board the hot train tomorrow. If not, we might have to ease back. It will be in the 90s. Its just a matter of how hot it will get. 60s, 70s, 80s around the bay. 90s inland. Temperatures will be above average. When the fog makes it down to morgan hill, thats usually a sign they wont get that hot. It will be warm. Warm to hot. If it alls into place, wednesday will be the hottest day. He was found slumped over in the drivers seat of a car that lost control and veered off the roadway hitting three parked cars including this one which suffered an incredible amount of damage. Now, the this morning, a family friend came out here to this crash scene. Hes a very, very respectful young man. Always has been. Reporter it was before 10 00 last night when several neighbors here called 911. They heard a loud boom outside. That was the impact of this crash along redwood parkway near glenview circle circle. There was another call that reported hearing gunfire. When Vallejo Police got out here, they found the driver of the black acura, that young man had been shot to death. We talked briefly with the victims cousin. He came by the scene and he told us the man that was killed didnt have any enemies. Just got a job at the hospital. Just graduated. Reporter police are not officially releasing the nail of the victim. They say there are still notifying all of his Family Members. No arrests have been made. Clearly Vallejo Police investigators have many questions about what led up to the deadly shooting last night. They are hoping more witnesses will come forward and help them out. Reporter yeah, they are gonna hold a conference talking about this fastgrowing industry. The implications from it not just the growing jobs but the concerns about the regulations and the privacy. So thank you for coming out. We want to talk about the prediction is businesses industries, government agencies. They are gonna use it in their business. Traffic is certainly a big concern. As we talk about that, go ahead and take off because i know you are gonna fly the drone for us. Yes. Traffic management is the number one issue and and safety that people are looking at. As you said, there is a conference this week at the Research Center and that conference is looking at the different ways that these things can be controlled in the air so that they dont fall on people but nobody has all of the answers yet. The technology is way ahead of the capability to regulate it. So the faa and Big Companies like amazon and google and verizon all have a stake in this. They want to see drones fly safely and they want to make sure that the airspace above us is safe. Yes. Its a big concern. But there is a lot of big brains and Big Companies reporter were in the right spot. Traffic will be one thing discussed. The other thing is privacy. I personally last week in my backyard out in the backyard with my kids and all of a sudden, there is a drone overhead. What kind of recourse do we have . If there was a video camera in my backyard, i would call 911. What do we do . Nobody has all of the answers yet. So local states and low tal localities have regulations in place against like noise abatement. Thats one thing and then states have put in place privacy laws that have piggy bagging. Theres existing privacy laws, peeping tom laws. Those are laws that can people can tuesday if they are really concerned about a drone that is actually operating in some kind of surveillance around them. Reporter well wrap up a little bit. We talked about that with the fires and the regulations that will be in place. Not just as just regular people fly their drones but they were in the way of the firefighting yeah. There are bad i think the people who are in the commercial space are actually very concerned that the regulations are properly put in place and that everyone flies safely and theres proper traffic management. The fire safety crews have been very vocal about this. I think thats a good thing. On the other side, drones have a great benefit and they know how they can be used to help spot hot areas and do those things where its dangerous to put a helicopter. There are two sides to it.
