A major setback in the effort to stop public money from going towards the stadium in las vegas. This proposed ballot measure written by the Nevada Teachers Union will not be appearing during the next election. Kron fours dan kerman explains why. When nevada lawmakers approved spending 380 Million Dollars in public money to help fund a stadium in las vegas last june. The Nevada Teachers Union took steps to reverse that decision by putting the issue to a public vote this november. Now that wont happen. The Nevada Supreme Court upheld a Lower Court Ruling that the proposed ballot measure was not written correctly and petition signatures can not be gathered until its read and to comply with state law fighting billionaires is never easy. This is just minor setback. Alexander marks with the Teachers Union schools over stadium says the ruling means the measure wont appear on this novembers ballot because now there are only 44 days left to rewrite the petition and then collect the 102,000 signatures with no state elections in 2025. That means the next chance for a public vote is november of 2026. But schools over stadiums remains undeterred. This still remains incredibly unpopular locally. Its still under water. 20 . You know, preventing the teachers from going out there to ensure every student has a highquality Public Education is probably not going help with their polling either. But, you know, we we remain committed to try and help fix the misguided priorities of the state. So not much has really changed. In a statement, the attorney who represents the Coalition Opposing the ballot measure, which includes the as, was pleased with the ruling saying all nevadans have a right to participate in direct democracy, but they need to observe the laws that require properly informing the voters of a proposal. This measure failed to do that. All they did was delay if they were hoping for a quick decision and calling it a day and saying that they want thats not what they got today as part of a 2 pronged attack, schools over stadiums sued the state of nevada saying the passage of that funding measure violates nevada state constitution.
