Indeed. Weve got a pretty clear morning and you can see that. Even all the way out to the Golden Gate Bridge this morning. Were looking at very minimal cloud cover. This is your view at the golden gate about to have a beautiful sunrise out there. Really nice way to start your tuesday off. And were going to be holding on to that sun all day long today. Coastal areas, youve got a pretty steady sea breeze. The rest of us are calm. But if you are heading out to the coast, bit of a blustery morning out that direction. 40s to low 50s for current temps right now. Livermore is that 45 per cleese sitting at 47 conquered and San Francisco each right at 50 degrees right now. Now later on today, daytime highs will be in the low to mid 70s for most of us. So really pleasant forecast. Im talking a warmup and another rounf of potential weekend rainfall. All still to come. As for your roads. Michael thomas is in this morning. Whats the latest out there . Hey, good morning, everyone. Well, we are seeing some delays for those of you who may be heading over on to the bay bridge. There is a collision and you can see its right before. You get onto that bay bridge. Its just west of grand avenue. So the second lane is currently blocked and were already starting to see some of those delays. But hopefully thats getting cleared up at least within the next hour or so. Taking a look at some drive times those who are heading to the mates from the crockett, 18 minute commite while the greek to 5, 80 12 minute commute, Castro Valley to the maze of 14 minute commute stanley and or to the maze a 10 minute commute. Now, once you get over to that area, you can see it does look like a parking lot, but still only a 30 minute commute from the maze to get into the city. Those metering lights are on. A live look at the san mateo bridge this morning. Theres a little bit of delays there. There is an accident that theyre clearing up, but it still only a 15 minute commute on to the peninsula. Taking a look at the richmond, sandra fell. Its an 8 minute commute over that. And lastly, that Golden Gate Bridge, its only 19 minutes to get into the city of San Francisco james, well send it back to you. Thanks a lot, michael. Okay, 602. Is a time and breaking news from overnight. A massive fire has engulfed a commercial building in concord and nearby. Roads are closed, impacted by this kron. Fours will tran is live in concord with a look at whats going on. Will. So will give you the road closures in just a few moments from now. But let me tell you whats going on. We are at least 8 hours into the fight and the firefighters. Theyre not going anywhere. They finally just lower there. Latter because they were still dealing with the hot spots. James story, a look at that. The roof collapse at this building, which is pretty much in the heart of downtown concord right next to the bart station. Now, let me show you video. This fire. They dont even know exactly when it started because he got good head start on them. Its a vacant building. And when they got here at around 10 oclock in the morning, they realize that there are a lot of Homeless People coming and going from this location, which is why they actually rushed inside. Look for a knee body inside just to make sure that theyre safe. But it got so intense so quickly that they actually told their firefighters get out for their safety. Thats when they raise the ladder and then they attacked the fire from above as well as from the ground, but not inside. This is a building known as park plaza is 3 stories. Juan flores, the garage and 2 Office Floors above. Its been vacant for quite some time now. That is important because when its vacant, there are no systems inside. Know workers to call the Fire Department for them to come here, which is why they believe they got a huge head start on them. And thats why the roof collapsed at this particular point. No firefighters are injured and they were able to get out and now that the sun is up, they were met. They did manage to go inside as best as they can and they did not find anybody inside at this particular time. So the cause of the fire still under investigation. Take a look at your screen. You talked about the road closures, clayton road. That is a big road that you have to keep in mind. Part of it is close, especially right next to the bart station. So keep that in mind. Heres a other list the closures parking grant streets, east street in concord boulevard, first street and saint clair avenue, bart parking lot on park street. That has been compromised as well. Speaking of bart, james and area at one point they were worried that barr commute, especially, of course, during the morning time would the affected possibly not even go through here because the fire was so close to bart that the fire could have reached over thp year and the embers could have damage to tracks, but they looked at the tracks. No problems whatsoever. They cleaned it up why you can see a lot of people are pulling into bart at this particular time not affected. And you might be able to even hear a bart train rolled through at this particular time. Back to case thank you. Will. Not the only fire crews now last night cleaning up from a fire in extra Space Storage facility in fremont. Look at those flames shooting from the building. There were more than 50 units, their engulfed in flames. In a storage facility. Typically people packed and full of whatever the contents were unaware of what those contents are, but theyre usually packed fully so you have a heavy fire load so that that always what is going to create different fire conditions for us. Nobody was hurt and there are investigating the cause. Now. So well be staying tuned for that. All right. Well, lets stay tune for the Weather Forecast for today. On this tuesday. Were waking up to clear skies. You saw the half moon out there. I saw the same morning, yeah, i should or should have been day just to keep it was nice and bright moonlight this morning and not a lot of cloud cover blocking it out. This is your view from away atop of mount tam looking down into the day. We do have a little bit of a breeze pushing up and down the coast and that is making for a bit of a wobble to this camera up on top of mount tam. Now, aside from that sea breeze today is going to be a very pleasant, actually calm day for the rest of the bay area with tons of sunshine out there across the bay. High pressure, ridges built up. This is blocking any storm system from dropping in just yet. But we will be seeing our next one in sight. And youve probably guessed it already come saturday. Its almost like clockwork. Our weekends cool down and we get those storm systems pushing we will see a northwesterly wind kicking up overnight tonight ahead of our warmest days of the forecast. And because of that, we do have a wind advisory up in Solano County going into effect 11 00pm tonight through 05 00pm on wednesday. This also affects the central valley. Fire risk is not huge at this point because of those weekend rains weve had. But this will result in the risk of a few downed trees, downed limbs in some roadways. As for our futurecast, were dry today tomorrow and for the rest of the week. The weekend, though, is going to be when we start to see those showers pushing in saturday coming along with that chance of really just a few scattered sprinkles. Nothing major and a few light flurries up in the sierra. Just generally going to be a cooler and grayer weekend overall where were at today, though, very pleasant and very sunny. So if you do have a chance to get outside today, it is that sweet spot for a lot of the bay area in the 60s to 70s. Thats going to feel really nice and winds are not going to be a huge thing unless youre out along the coastline where that sea breeze will be noticeable. So thats 72 in san jose. Calm winds and lots of sunshine. Not going to be bad. Union city hayward on up through oakland in the upper 60s. Well, concord, at 75, same for you in pittsburgh, as well as santa rosa. Looking ahead tomorrow, temperatures will be among the warmest both wednesday and thursday. Were going to bring a few low 80s for inland areas. Friday will be quite similar. And then we really cool down come saturday with that chance of a sprinkle or 2 saturday drying out by sunday. But staying in the 60s, michael. Thanks, john. Good morning, everyone. The time is around 6. 15, taking a look right now at the not too many major delays. But if youre heading on to that, the bridge you can see theres a collision that happened. Its the westbound lanes of 80. And its right near grand avenue. So just keep that in mind. It is causing some delays. Chp is working to get moved out of the way. But you may see some of that delay over the antioch area. We always see that major congestion there. 34 minutes from antioch to concord this morning. Nothing too out of the ordinary. If youre in vallejo heading over to crockett, you can see everything does seem to be moving smoothly. Once you get from crockett and youre heading to the maze, its a 19 minute commute from there. Taking a look right now, a little bit more inland. Walnut creek to 5. 80. Its a 12 minute commute. So no delays as youre cruising through orinda. But that bay bridges always, you know, looking like a parking lot. Those metering lights are on. Everyones waiting to get into the city and its a 14 minute commute. Once youre on that bridge taking a look at some drive times this morning, livermore to dublin 11 minutes, dublin to fremont. 17 minutes. San leandro to milpitas 27 minutes on that 8. 80. There is a brush fire on the side of the road. Believes it may be a homeless encampment that theyre working to get control over. So weve got some looking lewers. Its causing some delays in that area milpitas to sunnyvale sevenminute commute. Well take a look at the san mateo bridge right now to 14 minute commute. If youre heading on to the peninsula, no delays there. Lastly, we will take a look over in the san jose area. Morgan hill to san jose 60 minute commute. And lastly that 101. Its a 35 minute commute from san jose to menlo park. Dorian. James, well seni it back to you. Michael, thank you very much. 6. 18 on the clock and San Francisco police now looking for a hit and run driver who struck and killed a pedestrian back in february. We have a picture that police provided of the car theyre looking for was on the night of february 25th that a man crossing the street was hit by a dark colored toyota camry, possibly a 1997 to 2001 model. The victim later died at the hospital from their injuries. Investigators say the car should have significant frontend damage, damage, headlights and should be missing. The toyota emblem on the hood. Its 6. 19, and a developing story and the nationwide propalestinian protest have continued, including what weve seen in the bay area and at stanford demonstrators on the university to divest from israel and disclosed investments. Counter protesters showed up yesterday saying they also have a right to be on campus. We live in great these people are taking advantages of the freedoms afforded by this country. White will simultaneously chanting death to america, almost nightly basis. And so i think its good for them to recognize that. Maybe they should be thankful for the country that theyre protesting in. That was a part of the jewish contingency that showed up to say that they dont like these protests. They feel like theyre being alienated and pressured to be off of campus from them. But theres a group called stanford for palestine and they say the university notified 9 students of a disciplinary violation against them for participate in the protest. And in a letter that was sent to kron 4 of disciplinary Letter University said the students violated multiple policies by engaging and destructive behaviors with the intent to interfere with official university business. The group says the students who got the letter have been vocal about their support for palestine. They say that the they were not involved in the encampment. Theyre the university. Also did not include any evidence of the participation. We did reach out to stanford for more details on this. But we havent heard back. Were also taking a live look at San Francisco state where the protests there has been growing as well. Students their joint in yesterday with a rally and people also set up tents to and now congress is responding to these protests that theyve seen with a bill. Tackling antisemitism supporters say that legislation will crack down on hate speech against jewish people. Lets take a closer look now. Good morning, hannah. Yeah, good morning. That bill is called the antisemitism awareness act and it would change the federal definition of antisemitism which could have some important consequences. As the israelhamas war plays out overseas, propalestinian protests on College Campuses are capturing the attention of congress. It is long past time that congress act to protect Jewish Americans from the scourge of empty antisemitism on campuses. Congressman russell fry says thats why he supports the antisemitism awareness act. It would change federal antidiscrimination law to use the International Holocaust remembrance. Alliances definition of antisemitism, which would make certain language chance used at protests punishable by law. Now more than ever, it is critical that the federal governments definition of antisemitism. Is clear and uniform. Congressman Michael Burgess says that would give the Education Department more authority. So universities are empowered to take appropriate and decisive steps. To keep students safe and respond. Exercises of speech that are so hostile. And discriminatory. But congressman jerry nadler argues the bill is too broad. This bill threatens to chill constitutionally protected speech. Speech that is critical of israel alone does not constitute unlawful discrimination. Instead, some democrats are pushing to pass the countering antisemitism act, which would establish a National White house coordinator to combat antisemitism congresswoman mary scanlon called that legislation a much more bipartisan solution oriented useful bill. And congressman jim mcgovern agreed saying lawmakers need to come together on this. It is a mistake to not approach these issues with more unifying actions. In a split vote, lawmakers did decide to advance the antisemitism awareness act out of committee, setting it up for a vote in the full house later this week. James, starting a back to you. All right. Thanks a lot, we are back 6. 25. Is the time. And today is national. Adopt a shelter pet day one in 5 pets in the u. S. Are currently homeless and need a forever home. Where is that a result of ivf freezing cycles also saw an increase between those same 2 years, more than 24,000 births in 2021. And almost 30,000 in 2022. From frozen embryos. And office buildings, roof in concord collapses partially because the Fire Department was late to the scene. Coming up, ill tell you why it was not their fault. 6. 29 right now checking out the weather for you. Taking a peek here at sfo. Looking clear theyre not bad. Weve got john. Stand by with a look at the forecast today. Good morning, john. Yeah, weve got a good dose of sunshine already this morning. Not talking hardly in the marine layer out there. We will have a coastal breeze, though, which is good to keep our coastal area school. The rest of us going to be tapping into that sunshine and warmth looking outside at the Golden Gate Bridge. Beautiful morning. If you have that morning jog planned it is going to be ideal conditions for it. Now we are seeing that coastal breeze, as i mentioned, areas like half moon bay, even as far inland as sandra fell in santa rosa, youll notice that cool breeze pushing in from the coast. Most of the rest of us are really calm. Temperatures in the 40s to 50s right now. Throw in that light jacket. If youre walking to the bus stop or the bart station this morning, definitely cool enough for the shock is to get your morning started later on today, though, those upper 60s to mid 70s dont sound too bad at all. Michael. Thanks, good morning, everyone. Taking a look at the roads not too bad. This morning we saw some delays before you head on to that bay bridge. But thats been cleared up. Now taking a look at some drive times for those who are heading out this morning. Crockett to the maze 20 minute commute, walnut creek to 5. 80. Its a 12 minute commute. Castro valley to the maze. 14 minutes, stanley and or to the maze 11 minutes when to get to that mays taking a look at the bay bridge right now. You can see that gorgeous sunrise. Its only a 16 minute commute into the city and those metering lights are on. Well take a look at the rest of the bridges. San mateo bridge, 16 minute commute over that. The richmond, sandra fell bridge 13 minute commute. And lastly, that Golden Gate Bridge, you can see its a 19 minute commute to get into San Francisco. Darren james, well send it back to you. Thanks. A lot of 6. 31. And the breaking news from overnight is a massive fire at a commercial building in concord. Yeah. So nearby roads are closed. Obviously thats going to impact the morning commute for some kron. Fours will tran is standing by live at the scene with the latest on the situation there. Will good morning. And james, there are a lot of detours because the Fire Department remains on the scene. 8 and a half hours after they arrived and they should have arrived a little bit earlier. The problem is this is a vacant building and ill step out and show you whats going on. They came back here actually with the latter because theyre still dealing with a hot spots. They arrived here at around 10 oclock last night. But they could have arrived a little bit earlier, but they did not because this is a vacant building. It didnt have any alarm systems or anybody inside at the time to call the Fire Department, which is by which is why by the time they got here, were with the fire. Got good head. Start on them. Let me show you video. They realize that there are Homeless People coming and going from this building known as park plaza. So thats why they rushed in knowing that the fire was still going on at the time. But it got so dangerous that they told the firefighters to get out. Thats when they attacked the fire from above. And the sites, but not in sight. Fortunately, no firefighters were injured during the fire. The roof actually collapsed. This is 3 stories. One was the garage on the bottom level to Office Floors above. And because its bacon, the fire had all kinds of space to grow and breathing go through the building, which is why normally you dont see a building like this collapse, but it happened because theres no fire was and there was basically got it. Let me talk about the road closures going on. This is right next to the bart station in concord. They were concerned that maybe bart service would be impacted this morning. Its not because the fire did not damage any of the tracks or the embers. You know, did anything to the tracks, the point where they had to slow it down. So thats not a problem. As far as the road closures. Take a look at your screen, clayton road in oakland avenue park and grant streets, colfax street in concord boulevard, first street and saint clair avenue. If you miss that will post that on our website at kron 4 dot com. Just plenty of detours through this location. They were able to go inside. James and once it was safe enough for the when the flames got knocked down in safe enough for the firefighters to go inside. They did not see anybody inside at this particular time. And of course, simply too early to tell the cause of the fire, possibly from the homeless at this particular point, it was a vacant building. So this should not have been any electricity inside at that particular time. Back to you. All right. Thanks a lot. Well for that update. Well check back with you later. And weve also got some new details now on. A fiery crash that killed a family of 4.
