A health warning. If you went to an east bay restaurant, you may have been exposed to measles. Yeah. Earlier this month with kron fours sara stinson with more on where this happened. Alameda county Health Officials put this warning out to anyone who went 2 sons of liberty alehouse on march 9th between a specific time frame saying you need to watch out for symptoms which can appear a week up to 21 days later, the Health Department says this warnings for people who went to this restaurant in san leandro on that saturday between 4. 45 in the afternoon and 7, 30 at night. Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose. Red eyes and a rash that can last up to week. Measles can spread when infected person breathes coughs or sneezes. Since it does take time for symptoms to appear, people could start to feel them anytime between the 16th to the 30th of this month. Measles can be very contagious, according to the Health Department, one person infected with measles can infect 9 out of 10 unvaccinated people in close contact. The Health Department says to contact them and a doctor if you are at the restaurant during that time frame and especially if your child was exposed, if youre not vaccinated or if youre a health care or child care worker. I spoke with the owner of sons of liberty alehouse. He says the Health Department notified him in the afternoon before they put the alert out to the public. He says they were not able to provide proof that this person infected with measles. Was in fact, a customer of his restaurant. He says they could not even provide a receipt from that march 9th day. James, i talked to a lot of people this morning, one Pleasant Hill is extremely peaceful. Theyre getting up this morning knowing even though its peaceful, there has not been any arrest in this the word that they are telling me unsure they feel very unsure about whats going on. This is where it happened. This community. Here it is well manicured. You have to come here. You have to want to come here to be here. Its not like a main thoroughfare. This all went down at around noon yesterday off of long, brooke way and twin bridge circle. Now, i can tell you 2 men were shot. They were shot in the middle of the roadway and a lot of people were home at the time when they came out, they saw them. They called the paramedics, the police officers. Paramedics rushed him to the hospital. But we do know one of the victims. A 67 yearold man died from his injuries. Another man described in the 60s still fighting for his life. Police officers, according to neighbors, they were here for about 5 hours. They shut off the entrance to the residents so they could not pull down this pathway to get to their home as they continue their investigation. We got a chance to talk to people who were here at the time. Heres what they say about what they heard and what they saw. Allison here some what i what was like. Well keep following the story and bring you the latest as soon as we get more information. Meanwhile, in the south bay, at least one person is dead after a car struck a pedestrian on highway 101. It happened at about 9 oclock last night. The roadway between the oakland road offramp and mckee was closed for a few hours. But that has since reopened this morning. Time now is 08 00 07am, police in San Francisco are investigating 5 stabbings. It all happened over the span of 8 days. The latest stabbing was yesterday morning. The mission district. It was at 20th street and south venice avenue where a woman repeatedly stabbed and she is now suffering lifethreatening injuries. And then there were 2 also in the mission. In addition that one not one on sunday in the lower hill neighborhood and one on march 13th in the outer mission. And in that case, a person was actually arrested for killing a victim by stabbing them. Police are still looking, however, for other suspects in the 4 other stabbings. Its 807, and the San Francisco board of supervisor is just approving now a program to help Homeless Individuals get back to where they came from and their family and their hometowns. We spoke with one couple this morning who says they do live on the streets of San Francisco. This is what their thoughts were when it came to the program and how they feel it could help some of their peers out on the streets. Some would. I think theres just so strung out. That, you know, theyre just going to its its a cycle this route, you know, doing the same thing over and over and over again. The man accused of murdering his wife and motherinlaw appeared in Court Tuesday as detectives continue searching for the victims remains. Fuqua vo was first identified as a person of interest when San Pablo Police say vo told them his wife and motherinlaw were missing in september. 3 months later, he was spotted driving his wifes missing car in oakland. Police say they have enough evidence now and believe that vo had direct involvement in the disappearance and murders. He remains at the martinez jail. He believes the bill will lead to new preventative policies addressing hazing incidents before they happen. But not everyone supports the legislation in its current form, the csu system and the association of independent california colleges and universities support with the bill is trying to do. Congress is now asking uc berkeley to hand over documents related to reports of antisemitism. At the university there investigating reported antisemitism in schools all across the country. Kron fours Catherine Heenan takes a closer look. Well, a formal request account for documents came from the house Education Committee. The university now has until april second, 2, a comply or to appeal for more time. Congress wants to find out everything it can about how uc berkeley response to incidents of reported antisemitism or examples of situations jewish students say they do not feel safe. This was scene last month protesters disrupted an event where a former member of the Israel Defense forces was set to speak. Protesters broke through doors to students say they were assault. That Congressional Committee is not just talking to uc berkeley. It is now on a list that includes harvard, columbia and mit. And theyre serving subpoenas. Ducas take comes for documents on universities all over the United States and asking various universities to turn over anything and everything regarding any sort and so activities to look at our universities, engaging in antisemitism in 2024. When the University Administration doesnt enforce policy, that results in a hostile unsafe island campus ridges. The house Education Committee says there are what it calls grave concerns about the in adequacy of the uc berkeley response to antisemitism and referred to a failure to protect jewish students. And if thats what the investigation shows, thats awful. I mean, thats terrible. That any student wouldnt be protected by virtue of their religious affiliation. Whether youre catholic or baptist or hindu or buddhist or muslim, thats america. Uc berkeley says in a statement it is committed to confronting antisemitism and plans to release a comprehensive report on the committees questions. In the south bay, a preliminary started in the case of what appears to have been an exorcism like ritual that led to the death of a 3 yearold girl. There are 3 people as that accused of the girls murder and that includes her mother, her uncle and her grandfather. Prosecutors say they performed a horrifying exorcism on the girl in san jose and 2021. Investigators determine the cause of death was suffocation. The preliminary hearing theyre thinking will last through next tuesday and then the judge will decide if theres enough evidence to go to trial. In the south bay, a Police Standoff in campbell ended with a man dead. It happened yesterday morning. There was a woman who texted police saying there was Domestic Violence going on. She said that. Her children were in the home when a man identified as 31 yearold miguel gomez was having a Domestic Violence episode. The police tried to talk to him and then the police say he took a shot at them and thats when an officer fired back killing him. The Santa Clara County das office is investigating. Person in custody now after leading police on a multi county chase after an alleged robbery at a macys store in marin county. It happened monday at the macys store corte madera. Police tell us 3 people were involved. One of them punched a Security Guard in the face. And that suspect got into a car and took off the car was later seen in larkspur but got away. Police then received a welfare check report in san anselmo and a person matching the robbery suspect was asking residents for change of clothes and an uber ride. Police attempted to detain him, but he took off san antonio. Police then were notified that a house was broken into and a car was stolen and tt car was later seen in fairfax. Police pursued the car into sandra fell where it was later abandoned. The car was tracked to san pablo where Richard Cortez quarter heiress was arrested and he along with 2 others now been booked into the Marion County jail. Its a 36 in the east bay, thanks to license plate readers and store security cameras. Alameda city police were able to recover 3 stolen vehicles. One at a target. There was a license plate reader and alerted the police and they looked at the security footage identified and arrested someone. Police did the same thing and got a car recovered at a kohls and then a 3rd vehicle recovered at walgreens. The Alameda Police said on facebook they praise the partnership they have with Retail Stores and technology accrediting that with recovering stolen vehicles. Time now is and now to another big story that weve been following out of San Francisco. We now know the names of the 3 family members killed in a speeding. Theyre killed by a speeding suv that crashed into a bus stop where they were waiting for a bus. The victims include one yearold joaquin ramos, pinto de oliveira. His parents, 40 yearold Diego Oliveira and 38 yearold matilda ramos, pinto. They all died. The lone survivor, their 3 monthold infant son whos in the hospital still with lifethreatening injuries. The driver has been identified as 78 yearold Mary Fong Lau formal charges from the District Attorneys Office are still pending for her criminal defense attorney Michael Cardoza tells kron 4 that if lau was in fact, under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time, well, could lead to a criminal charge of involuntary manslaughter. A lot of people think, oh, im just taking my medications for stride. By the doctor. For example, norco somebody takes in norco i could write my doctor prescribed it. Now you can. Thats against the law. The law doesnt care whether its a Prescription Drug or an illegal drug. If youre under the influence. Again, thats just a hypothetical. We have no word yet that she was under the influence of any substance. But on other hand, if it was a mechanical problem with her car and that might suggest this was simply an accident and no criminal charges would be filed.
