Increase interest, the has in these types of incidents. Now, if youre on one of these planes, when Something Like this occurs, i understand it can be pretty trying him pretty stressinducing. But i think the proof in the fact is, although these incidents are occurring in all the cases, the aircraft because of that bringing of the cruise and the backup systems designed in the airplanes themselves are leading to successful outcomes. Usually with the aircraft parking at the gate. Certainly we need to look at the causes for these and help prevent them from occurring in the future. But the fact that weve had such a successful outcomes tells me the Safety Systems are actually working pretty well because at the end of the day, these all these aircraft or parking safely at the gate after the incident. It does give a little bit of comfort, i think for for folks when you when you say that im curious, where do the airports themselves fit in all of this . Because lots of these are originating from obviously we saw a couple from houston as well over the last couple of weeks. Obviously those checks and balances here from bowing to united personnel themselves. But then obviously crops are here at our airports. Where do they fit into all of this . Well, you keep in mind that the Large Network carriers operate on what we call the hub and spoke system where the hub airports are where the flights are concentrated and not coincidentally, both San Francisco and houston are hubs United Airlines. So united has their operations concentrated there just from an odd standpoint, its not surprising to me that those airports are seeing these incidents just because of the high number of operations that occurred there. So what do you think needs to happen to prevent these . You said maybe dont blame united. Maybe. Dont blame boeing. Yeah, im not here trying to blame someone, but i think the general public, heres all these things happen and they want to get to you know, they want to understand sort of the root causes of them and what can be changed to you . Never going to prevent everything but to decrease the frequency here. And you just had on exactly what will occur with most of these incidents. They rise to the level that the National Transportation safety board will conduct a full investigation just as if there had been a complete tragic loss of the aircraft to determine what happened and where the reasons for these incidents occurring happened so that we can put preventive majors in place for the future. The number of incidents is the total number of instances over a month or even since the beginning of the year. Not really increased yearoveryear from any other period of time. Its just that as i said earlier, the fact that there are a little bit concentrated in terms of all in a week and the fact that were paying a little more attention is bringing them to light. I think thats a good thing. The ntsb will determine what the issues were will be able to put mitigation in place to prevent those types of issues on future flights. Well, and the fact that we have video from inside some of these aircrafts, i think thats a big difference. Now, just in when it comes to whether its issues with airplanes or crime, whatever it is, we have evidence of it. We have videos from the passengers inside the planes or someone whos just, you know, filming planes, taking off so i question is how concerned should flyers be . Should they the kind of ok, should i maybe not fly united . I have, you know, a couple flights, you know, already schedule for them. It is th going to a different airline, something that you think people will start doing. Well, historically. Passengers choose their flights on the basis of price. And also after that, the basis of schedule, i would feel perfectly comfortable buying a ticket on United Airlines tomorrow in flying united anywhere. They have to go in the system. The couple reasons for that. Obviously, United Airlines themselves. They know theyre in the spotlight right now. I guarantee you as they always do, theyre doing everything they can do to mitigate these problems before they develop, prevent them from occurring in the first place. But as the investigations move forward, theyll be able to find areas where perhaps a little more focus would be required if that becomes evident after the investigation keep in mind the United States is enjoying the longest bit of Airline Safety in terms of major accidents that have ever thats ever occurred since airlines started flying. That didnt happen by mistake. Theres a lot of systems tracking systems, data systems in place. Theyre doing a great job of identifying risks before they become a hazard so that they can be mitigated. And though thats happening every day of the week with the data that will be able to download each flight and those efforts are still continuing moving forward. The Airline Industry is only going to get even safer as a result of these investigations and keeping those Safety Management system systems going. I will get you out here on theres talk of these airlines going more airbus and less boeing because of the issues at boeing, stock was down for southwest and also united. Do you think that were going to see an interruption in the normal flow of planes going to these airlines and you think passengers could end up paying more as a result of this disruption. I think its going to be a little bit of there is no denying that the 7. 37 delivery schedule is quite disrupted at the moment with current inspections and studies going on at the boeing plant right now, both as you indicated, united and southwest are going to see significant reductions in their 7. 30, deliveries over the summer. I think travelers will still have plenty of options to be able to get where they go, where they want to go in the short term, there may be some price increase just because of supply and demand issues, but the market will take care of us. The issue with united, perhaps trying to jump to airbus and getting a lot more airbus aircraft, the delivery time frames right now for both manufacturers are so far out because of the worldwide demand for new airplanes juggling those delivery positions. And a short notice is pretty difficult to do. My dad always tells me the best time to fly these airlines after these issues happen because theyre really making sure that things are safe. Thats after the city clerk received a petition that could put the issue on the November Ballot. The new ordinance had already been approved by the city council and was set to take effect next month. The changes would have capped annual rent increases at 3 for certain rental units built before 1995. It would have also added additional eviction protections for renters opponents. Arguing the cap on rent increases was too low and now have about a month to gather a little more than 7,000 signatures from concord voters. If opponents can do that, the measure will either need to be repealed by the city council or placed on the November Ballot where voters will get the final say on the matter. All this area who runs oakland, small Merchant Chamber of commerce tells kron 4 so far they have about 220 businesses who are behind this effort demanding change from officials and what they want to see the safer streets. Were paying. For services and were not even getting the bare minimum from the city. Eduard escobar with the coalition for Community Engagement says the city is not in tune with the real struggles of local businesses in oakland and how theyre being impacted by crime. Shop owners. Is there trying to decide whether they want to stay in business because every day is a a and basically like a roulette.
