Whats going on there . Grant people who serve the unhoused daily say the Homeward Bound Program is not for everyone, but its a resource they will recommend to people who need or want to go home. A San Francisco program has been offering unhoused people a ticket back to their home towns for nearly 20 years. It allows us the opportunity to offer the ability to reunify with their family. A ticket expenses to get back to their home. The Homeward Bound Program started under thenmayor Gavin Newsoms office with the goal to help 1000 people annually supervisor ahsha suffice. As in recent years, the program has dwindled. Hes now working to revive it while also running against mayor london breed for her job this november under mayor breed. It was buried in the bureaucracy. And it dropped to just a couple 100 people a year. Homeward bound has become a resource for organizations like glide Memorial Church in foundation. The chief Public Affairs officer is glad to see the city reinvesting in it. It is one tool in the tool box. And i think we want to be looking at all of that. So colder system working its way into the bay area. And it looks like its going to be pushing through very conveniently overnight tonight into early tomorrow morning. So you can expect some scattered showers around the bay area overnight tonight. And if youre headed out Early Morning for the commute really around 07 00am or so. Thats when youre most likely to see more rain. And then this begins to move on out. So by noon, i think were seeing those skies part bringing us some sunshine. Starting out your day with a couple scattered showers and then well bring that sunshine little breeze into the afternoon with some cool fresh air behind that cold front. Time now for you here. You can see as we head through the night tonight, that rain begins to pick up around 02 00am or so and continue into early tomorrow morning. Cynthia febreze and tenyearold Maximus Monroy both were found dead wednesday in their home here on summerfield road. Investigators are on scene for more than 12 hours before they finally carried the bodies away. Police say the final coroners report is still pending, but at this time, they believe the mother stabbed herself. The childs cause of death is still being investigated. They say the boy did not have any visible injuries. The man from stockton faces a murder charge in connection to last months death of wadi drop. The 78 yearold victim from livermore was an employee at a speedway gas station in san leandro. Investigators say the suspect 40 yearold dennis lee was loitering at the gas station, got into a confrontation with drawn and shoves him into a pole. Drone died of blunt force trauma. Lee is scheduled to be arraigned in Alameda County superior court tomorrow. Of a 63 yearold asian woman in San Franciscos bayview last year is getting another look. Police have reopened the investigation after initially ruling that an accident. Yanfeng will died after falling on the sidewalk and hitting her head. Witnesses had said wu was standing at the intersection of 3rd berwyn. Somebody pushed her from behind it a year after closing that case, though, police say new evidence may have emerged last week they arrested and charged a person who reportedly assaulted a 71 yearold asian woman just 5 blocks from where woof l police did not confirm the person interviewed in the will attack is the same person they arrested last week. But Charles Zhang with the Asian Justice Movement is demanding Police Release video of that first attack. There was a conclusion reached that that death was an accident. And so now here we are the next and the same person apparently attacked another elderly asian woman. And so i think its high time for the public to be able to judge for themselves. Today the fbi raided an east bay prison where former employees have been charged with sexually abusing inmates. Agents seized computers and documents. 8 former employees including the former warden have been charged with sexually abusing inmates at the all womens prison in dublin. This has been an ongoing years long investigation. And today we spoke with a volunteer, but the California Coalition for womens prisoners, she believes this raid has to do with a lawsuit against the Federal Correctional Institution and the federal bureau of prisons over 2 years that ive been visiting people at dublin theres so much retaliation for people who speak and for survivors who bravely talk about whats been happening there needs to be like overhaul the prison system in order for this abuse to stop. The event was called liberate the gate. Students deserve safe access to campus. This is a reference to propalestinian protesters who have allegedly blocked say their gate on campus for weeks now. Demonstrators say the university has failed to respond to instances of antisemitic violence on campus and is selectively enforcing campus policies at the expense of jewish students. When theres a student or Student Organization that is violating policies such as protesting and blocking, say their gate to enforce the policy when the University Administration doesnt enforce policy. That results in a hostile unsafe island campus ridges. 2 weeks ago, a pro palestine demonstration took place on campus, forcing police to evacuate attendees and and israeli speaker at that event. The statement from uc berkeleys vice chancellor says the school is trying to end protests that violate campus rules by using established protocols and only involving Law Enforcement as a last resort. Meanwhile, uc berkeley is under investigation by the u. S. Department of education for possible discrimination tied to the ongoing conflict between israel and hamas. This investigation comes following allegations that the university violated title 6 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color and National Origin in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. It is unclear what event or events triggered this investigation. Weve reached out to leaders uc berkeley for comment on this and have not yet heard back. Lets take a peek outside the Golden Gate Bridge on a monday night. This could be an issue if youre traveling up there in the next 24 36 hours, got to be careful. Grab those chains. If youre going that direction are seeing that snow long, 50 up, an atc Donner Summit there. Well, theyre going to see a lot of snow across the high country. In fact, right through tuesday, going to see late winter storm kind of rolling on through snow levels down about 4500 feet. You can see 3, maybe 6 inches of snow above 5,000 feet. Then you get across some of the higher peaks. We may be talking 8, maybe 10, it says of snow. So great news up there for our snowpack. Not so much if youre trying to travel, expect some delays there, some chain controls and some gusty winds from time to time even at lake level. So heres the good news youre going to get through the snow tomorrow. But after that, we start to open things up wednesday and thursday are looking good. Were going to dry things out be able to go up there ski on some fresh powder out the door right now weve got increasing clouds and that rain is spreading to the south tomorrow morning. Showers giving way to some clearing by the middle of day. Then High Pressure takes over. Weve gct a nice Little Spring like a break or rolling on in. But right now the raindrops popping up outside. You can see 50s and some 60s a little bit warmer in the south bay. As we look out over the next couple days, here we go. Were going to see maybe a lingering shower early tomorrow morning. Then thats long gone. Partly cloudy as we head toward wednesday, thursday, friday saturday.
