Theyre urging lawmakers to fund the Cal Grant Program to reduce school debt for about 350 1000 students. Youre looking right now at images from a rally back in february. Cal grant is the states Main Financial aid program. And last year lawmakers agreed to expand the cal grant, but only if theres enough money in the state budget. The Uc Student Association is leading todays demonstration. If funded about 137,000, californians will become eligible for a cal grant. The rally is expected to start at 10 oclock. Lawmakers recently introduced legislation that would require california schools to have armed officers on campus. Whenever students are there. Current state law allows School Districts to determine whether to hire armed Law Enforcement or an Armed Security officers. The new proposed legislation would remove all options for School Districts except to hire or contract with officers authorized to carry a loaded firearm to staff each campus. To help unhoused people return to their hometown. Yeah. This comes as the city seeing more People Living on the streets. They say the man was suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He later died at the hospital. Man was shot while driving on the eastbound side of the bay bridge saturday night. But a california Highway Patrol says a car pulled up on the left side of the victims car and fired multiple rounds into it. One of those rounds struck the man. Woman was arrested and connection with a carjacking where police she stole a van and dragged a car detailer about 20 feet before she stopped.
