One day after a United Airlines flight lost a tire during takeoff from sfo. Investigators are working to figure out what happened. Kron fours Charles Clifford joins us live now from the airport. Charles, whats the latest on this . Well, the faa has said that they are going to launch an investigation. Were also expecting the ntsb to launch an investigation into this. What is essentially a crazy story . A plane was taking off from sfo had kind of right towards me. The tire fell off into a parking lot. Now this afternoon, we actually talked to a woman whose car was hit by that tire. She says its something she never expected. A dramatic scene caught on video as a tire falls off the landing gear of a boeing triple 7 just after takeoff from sfo thursday morning. The tire landed in an airport employee parking lot, crushing one car and damaging at least one other vehicle. Thankfully no one was injured. The plane which was bound for osaka, japan landed at lax thursday afternoon without incident. At this point. Its unclear why the wheel came off in response. The faa said in a statement that they will be conducting an investigation. Thank goodness this didnt happen. Over a park. Henry harteveldt is a travel industry analyst with the Atmosphere Research group. He says an investigation is inevitable. The ntsb is going to get the tire and look for any other piece parts of the Landing Gear Assembly so that it can determine what was the cause of this accident . Was it something as simple as forgetting perhaps tightened some nuts and bolts or is there something more to it . Is there perhaps metal that he failure or whatever else could because at sfo on friday, most of the travelers we talked to had heard about what happened, but were discouraged when it comes to getting on an airplane to find some comfortable flying all means. And, you know, things dont too often all right. Now, a United Airlines has said that they plan to make all the passengers were on the plane and the owners of the damaged vehicles make sure that there are properly taken care of. We did, as i mentioned, get to talk to one of the women whose car was damaged. Heres what she had to say this afternoon. I rush over there thinking that my cart over going to and then i saw my basically ripped into shreds. And then i started crying because didnt expect that at all. And thats when the cops came in explain what had happened. Yes, he was very shook up this afternoon. Hopefully she can work with united to figure something out. But thats the very latest here at sfo. Federal authorities are investigating several recent issues with boeing airplanes ranging from loose tire as the plane engines catching on fire. That incident happening just this week, an engine on a United Airlines flight caught fire right after take off from houston monday night. The monday, the man who took this video says it sounded like a bomb went off and that the plan to the nose dive right after the crew was able to make an emergency landing. No one was hurt. And last month, federal investigators say the rudder controls on another united flight failed during a landing in new jersey. The pilots say the rudder pedals which controlled the rotation of the plane got stuck as they roll down the runway. The pilot says they had to use another steering mechanism and were able to safely land the plane. Investigators say that although mechanics could not pinpoint the problem, the plane work normally after they swapped out some of the rudder control parts. A few weeks before that a delta flight last the nose wheel while preparing for takeoff in atlanta. No one was hurt. The San Francisco Fire Department responding to a water main break from this morning on walnut street just off 19th avenue, water shooting sky high in the vicinity of Pine Lake Park near stern grove. And that was show you the water main break. And that led to the hill collapse out here. Now, you can take a look at this video from the citizen app that shows water shooting high into the air. Just a mess. San francisco crews were able to turn off the water, but then this happened the hillside above stern grove in the San Francisco neighborhood gave way the entire situation being investigated. Now. But heres what we do know. The San Francisco water power, Sewer Department sfp you safe. Just wrapped up the wall. Wanna area storm water improvement project. The cause was 29 Million Dollars to project included upgrading sewer pipes along 25 blocks and adding a major storm water tunnel. The pipe that ruptured out here ive been told was not replaced in that project. This pipe that ruptured dates back to the 1940s. The landslide is next to several homes, including one that was currently putting in a large retaining wall to shore up its foundation. I spoke with several residents who say that they are very concerned about the residents who live in the area, certainly right next to where it slammed down the hill. Now we received this just a couple minutes ago from the San Francisco Public Utilities commission with the wind power, water sewer. It says that the crews repaired a large water main break on wanna street near 30th avenue today. The cause of the break appears to be a failure of an 8 inch valve connected to a 60 inch water transmission line. Big mass. Well, this is not the first time Something Like this has happened in the area. At the end of the stern grove festival in 2021, a water main break flooded the area shutting down the grove more than 70,000 gallons of water spilled out causing tester, catastrophic damage. The final concert of the summer, in which to sure the performer was to had to be canceled. The sigmund stern groves concert meadow was set to reopen for the festival in 2022. So this shows us those nice blue skies that are all across, not just the bay area, but as you can see, california, obviously, when you look offshore, you start to see a little bit of a line of moisture there. Thats bringing some rain up to the Pacific Northwest right now. Were being protected by high pressure. You can kind of see that that ridge thats built in there. Its not the strongest ridge, but it certainly keeping those clouds away from us. But it wont last forever. By the time we get to tomorrow morning, we are going to see a pattern change in our weather, but were not there yet. And its really nice out. Essentially, parents say they want to make sure that students dont fall victim of any of the citys crime issues. Take a look. This is a map up on your screens. You can see just exactly where its going to take place again. It will happen between the hours of 06 30pm, and 03 00am those hours in this area were chosen based off of crime reports that were done in the last 6 months. You can see its a square shaped area and its about 5 blocks long from bancroft way all the way down to do wit way then also along Piedmont Avenue and total, theres going to be 6 security ambassadors wear bright colors and be assigned to different areas with one. It will make rounds on a bike. Theyre going to be paid and organized by parents and say enough is enough when it comes to the areas crime. The overall goal is to put pressure on administration at the university to get a Similar Program put in place. The safety ambassadors all have california guard cards and if undergone background checks but will not carry any type of weapons. So no pepper spray, batons, handcuffs or anything else when it comes to defense equipment. The purpose is for them to serve as a physical deter. And as they roam the area, an escort students by request from one place to another. The Pilot Program will and on saturday march 23rd. As of right now, parents have a goal of raising 300,000 for the safe care fund, but it only raised currently around 40,000. We did reach out to organizers for their thoughts. When you get this kind of the day theyre stormtracker for it just looks fantastic. However, we do have to talk about a little rain headed our way for the weekend. And as zoom out here show you the water vapor map because you can kind of see where these little board is. These are of low pressure that counter clockwise circulation kind of lined up back here and theres a bigger system that theyre come spinning off of know right now were being protected by high pressure. But thats going to change as we get into saturday morning. Thats our first hit of just a little rain. Looks like north bay and then it kind of rolled into sunday monday, tuesday, a little more rain now. Notice if youre in eureka, thats where the bulls eye is. Right and parts of the Pacific Northwest. But were still going to get some rain from this. So lets talk through when you need to look out for it. So they mentioned saturday morning that the north bay thing light rain falls apart as it hits the Golden Gate Bridge and then widespread showers in the afternoon on sunday into monday and again, monday into tuesday. It doesnt look like anything terribly dramatic. But lets talk timing here in future cast can show you this. Theres that first little hit thats going to fall apart. Kind of hit the north bay. Bring about a 10th to maybe a quarter of an inch of rain is i think that might be in a bullish estimate there. I think its going to closer to 10th second hit. This will go across the whole bay area. That will be sunday afternoon into monday morning. And then the 3rd one, which i think might be a little more pervasive. Thats going to be later in the day on monday. And that ones going to go through till tuesday. But then after that, we have kind of a nice pattern change coming and we roll into some really nice. Sunny weather is again to the end of next week. So we spring forward this weekend. We drop those temperatures to be a lot cooler saturday sunday, monday will start to rebuild on tuesday. Well, ive been in prison for almost 36 never been on computer and tell us started the class. So i had to learn how to use a computer and then learn how to code into the computer. So it was really challenging. Erich bergen is that the center since and theyre getting his certificate of completion for Web Development fundamentals. He learned how to code while incarcerated without using internet. It was possible through a program called code 73, 70 in partnership with nonprofit the last mile and the California Prison Industry Authority bergen says its boosting camaraderie inside prison walls. Well, bringing Families Together for celebration. Beyond words, its been a while since ive my brothers together like this to have them here supporting its just amazing. About 15 people graduated on thursday, many of them from the coding class credit. Theyre dedicated instructors. Jon over whos been teaching here for a decade. But as we get into sunday through tuesday, 10 to 18 inches up in the passes, 2 feet at the peaks up to 2 feet at the peak. So that definitely needs are some travel impacts. If youre going up today or tomorrow, youre going to a problem sunday through tuesday. Thats going to be the tough time to keep an eye travel. So just to look through future cast here. The group damage the front door at the Town Youth Club location of the oakland Lgbtq Community center. Center officials tell us that this happened early yesterday morning. The center tells us they will work to replace the damaged or oakland. Police are investigating a shooting on interstate 9. 18 year. 11th street. It happened thursday morning. Police say a man felt something hit his car. You got to see what happened. And thats when another car drove alongside him and opened fire. No one was hurt. Police say the investigation is ongoing. And turning now to a big story, 2 people are dead after a Fatal Shooting in pleasanton ended with the suspect turning the gun on themselves. Kron fours amanda hari brings us the details. Everyone i spoke to says this neighborhood is extremely quiet and the experience almost no crime. They say the situation is very sad, but theyre grateful the threat is over a little bit strange and shocking. Thats how people live in this neighborhood described what happened thursday. Saginaw circle near santa rita road and west lost see does boulevard covered crime scene tape amid a murder suicide investigation this morning around 11 oclock i some loud bangs, apparently there was a gunshot at that time. I didnt recognize it as a question. This woman who didnt want to appear on camera. Says she was home in pleasanton. Police responded and found the victim dead with multiple gunshot wounds. That was a swath when they came in. She says shes lived in this complex since 1997, but she has never seen a Police Presence like this one. The shooting was then almost immediately followed by a police chase. There are requesting assistance. Their officers were actively in pursuit of a known a murder suspect on 5. 80. That pursuit ended in san leandro. Near the benedict drive exit, the driver died from a selfinflicted gunshot wound. The suspect vehicle while him pursue. Crash. And at that point, there was a high risk staff as well as the standoff. Approximately 30 minutes. It was determined that the suspect had to come to his own injuries. I saw on the news earlier. The 5. 80, was shut down. And i said, thats crazy. Thats a major freeway shut down for hours. Then i came home to see police tape around her neighborhood and found out that it was related. Tim parks as he chose to live here in pleasanton because its a safe community. He never expected anything like this. He says hes not sure who the suspect or the victim. Its i dont know who live there. Maybe i saw them, but i dont know if if i know who does or not, it just a disturbed guy. Didnt know how to control his emotions.
