Were live this morning with a look at those conditions. Will you can see that. So snow stacking up in the mountaint and its just Getting Started with even more of it on its way as we make our way through the afternoon evening and eventually into tomorrow and some of our heaviest of rainfall also back like we never left. We are. Yeah, weve got almost 9. 15. Youre on the clock live. Look here at San Francisco behind as it doesnt look like its raining too terrible right now. At least right here. Just seems a little sprinkles here and there. But john, as we get us ready for the harder rain to come and all the snow to the snow is where its at the sierra really in the midst of the biggest snowstorm of the season. So far and one that is likely going to be for the books too. This is your view at diamond peak right here. Quite the change from yesterday. Youre not seeing a ton of snow stacking up on the deck right there because it keeps blowing off. We have 75 to even 100 Miles Per Hour reported wind gusts at the crest of the sierra and thats half the problem. The blizzard conditions, the whiteout conditions got to make travel to the sierra dangerous. If not completely impossible, highway 50 as well as it likely to see some closures. The snow only escalates here in the bay area. Things have been comparatively quiet. Thats easy to do compared to this year right now weve seen light to moderate showers out there across the bay area. Low pressure area incurring this big dip in the jet stream. And right now the jet is just set up shop or right up into the sierra. Thats going to plunge. This moisture dense air right up into the mountains. We also have unsettled weather to and thats why we have a chance of thunderstorms here in the bay area. As we move into the afternoon, especially your 2nd half your friday as where things will get. A little interesting for us here locally as we do see a chance of thunderstorm development, heavy downpours cloud to ground lightning. All the things that come along with these thunderstorms as we move towards the Late Afternoon into the evening tonight, things do remain unsettled tomorrow and look at those areas of blew up in the north bay mountains, especially we have areas of snowfall, especially around clear lake up in lake county in inland areas of mendocino counties, rainfall in the bay area over 2 inches for some spots. The santa cruz mountains. Im expecting as much as 40 even 5 inches for you up there. We could see some localized flooding in those small streams both around the Russian River in Sonoma County, as well as a small streams in the santa cruz mountains. As for the north bay, we have several inches of snowfall on the way lake and mendocino counties looking at anywhere between 3 to 6 inches of heavy snowfall. Mount saint could see 9 inches at the very top of the mountain. While you have the feet of snow piling up in the sierra head up above 5,000 feet and weve got anywhere between 4 to 12 feet of snowfall. Going to take several days for crews to dig out so many of those roadways up there that going to be impacted. We have a winter storm warning for lake and inland Mendocino County and that blizzard warning up in the Sierra Nevada. Thats not just because of the feet of snow, but the whiteout conditions that comes along with winds as strong as were going to be seeing them, expect down trees and Power Outages. Travel to the sierra. Just not anything close to a good idea this weekend well have 40 to 50 Miles Per Hour. Wind gusts in the bay area. Thats a lot of wind, but not as much as or sierra neighbors. It is enough for wind advisories taking effect today lasting through 10 00am tomorrow. We also do have a High Surf Advisory at the coastline with waves as high as 15 to 20 feet up and down the coast. Your daytime highs today warmer than they are about to be tomorrow. Upper 50s today. Tomorrow will barely make the low 50s is that cold air really settles in mountain snow in the bay area and continued showers likely into early sunday right all right, john, thank you for that. Ok, slick, wet conditions. What weve been seeing out there, although were seeing friday light conditions. Still want to take your time. If you are traveling out there this morning because of the wet conditions. 9 minutes heading into the city this morning, 30 min arrive 80 to 101, on the san mateo bridge richs center fell bridge. Looks to be about 8 minutes tolls to 101. And if you are going to be taking the golden gate bridge. 37 to the tolls. 21 minutes you can see from the skies up. Theyre already starting to see the grade as blanketing much of the bay area this morning might be a good time to get some extra things for rays. All right. And well try and bring that back up. Full screen on the shot again. There you go. This is 2. 67 of kings beach. So were looking at the north shore of lake tahoe. And, boy, you can certainly see a lot of that snow has been falling and its really starting to cover up the roads. I want to show you, though, the roads. This is what we are looking at. You can just coming at us right now. Is this a massive so paul with a caltrans, theyre doing their best to keep these roads nice and clear for them to go ahead and skip that snow out of the way as they make their way up. Theres actually 2 of them. So this is what weve been saying. The snow has been consistent. This is nothing new. We expect to see about 2 to 4 inches of snow fall every hour and possibly up to 10 feet of snow. As we make our way to the weekend. So, look, it seems like we actually have. The the full load here. The snow plows, everyones coming out to play, making sure theyre going in their respected directions. They got assignments to go on. Of course, keeping the roads clear is a big priority. But also stay away from the road. Thats been the message from caltrans to everyone that lives in this area who was thinking thinking about traveling to this year is really stay away. And the reason is this, were going a different angle now. Just the snow covers complete all over across the roads. And if you see, were going to work our way out and come up here i80 us are in kingvale. Got to go slow, nice and slow. We still are getting kind of one of those little slushy right now is bit of i would wouldnt think its no fly with the slushy coming down right now. And this is going to continue its only going intensify as the day goes on. So. Really avoid any travel to the sierra. Thats the message as we have actually seen in the last 10 minutes, a semi that was stuck. So these are the conditions out here in this year. And with that, james reyna, back to you guys are gonna come so that you please stay absolutely. And, you know, as you saw from monicas video, not a good time to be up there in the sierra right now. So hold off any plans you had to go at next weekend. 9. 18, is the time on to other news.
