The Union Representing teachers with the San Francisco Unified School District have announced a tentative deal has been reached and it looks like they are averting that possible strike earlier this month, the union had authorized a strike if contract negotiations broke down. According to the post, the agreement is for 2 years. The union says this deal includes a substantial raise for their members, improved working conditions and more students support. Michael, thank 908, is the time San Francisco police have released body camera footage and 911 calls related to the crash and deadly shooting at the chinese consulate last week. The footage shows that john yuan liang was armed with a knife when he drove his vehicle into the consulate last monday. The 911 call came in just after 3 oclock in the afternoon saying that a person driven right into the consulate and that they were armed Police Arrived about 4 minutes later, by the time they got their pepper spray had already been deployed. The body camera shows that Police Ordered yang to get to the ground, but he didnt. And heres some of the body camera footage as officers came in. Instead, apparently he stood against a wall, held a knife. And when a Security Guard and an sfpd sergeant tried to arrest him, they began swinging that knife. The sergeant block mister yangs right elbow as missing yang continue to turn towards them. Mister yang made multiple rapid downward swing emotions with the knife towards that direction of the sergeant and the Security Guard. As the first 2 uniform backup officers approached the sergeant and mister yang. The sergeant quickly step back, drew his firearm and the o i s occurred. Well, police say that medics arrived about 3 minutes after the shooting yang was taken to a local hospital but was pronounced dead. Heres a photo of the knife. He was holding. And then when police looked inside his car, they found that he had a crossbow with arrows. Fact, police are calling this a highly unusual event that could have easily involved many more casualties. Alameda County District Attorneys Office says a search warrant at his home found cocaine, 2 loaded firearms and over 100,000 in cash, his next court date is set for next thursday. Police say theyve arrested at a home depot employee for allegedly taking cash from the business for over a year. Police say they were called by the home depot who accused the suspect of taking more than a Million Dollars in cash from the business since august of 2022. One of those cars actually belong to a francisco business owner. Well, first and ford got a chance to talk to several cars torched by an encampment fire in the mission this is just one of 3 fires to break out along or near stevenson street in less than a week. I think its a big deal because theyre getting worse. Business owner deseret barrera says shes been complaining to the city about encampment fires for months. Her fears were realized when her black bmw was destroyed last friday, adding insult to injury, people were seen rummaging through barreras badly burned car, especially in scary. The individuals who are causing the fires are still outside. They havent been asked to leave. And theyre still there. With all of their equipment on monday. Just days after barreras car was charred, another fire torched several more vehicles on the same block. Well, here you see hundreds of people shutting down the San Francisco Federal Building last night by chaining themselves to the doors of representative Nancy Pelosis office. In the east bay, san police have arrested a man in connection with 2 deadly shootings inside of a gym parking lot. So the shootings happened back on september 14th in the 24th. They were both 24 hour fitness there at the bayfair center. Police say each case a man was shot and killed and investigators say it was only after looking through Surveillance Video of both shootings that they noticed something similar. A man wearing the same black work boots and red backpack at the scenes of both of those shootings. Police then later spotted that very man wearing the same boots and backpack walking in the area near the gym. So they stopped him and upon searching and found he had a gun and then they say they found more evidence at his home connecting him to the crimes. Happening today, there is going to be a rally at the southeast corner of the lindsey street and 22nd street in San Francisco after an lgbtq mural was defaced. The artist won. Manuel carmona says that october 6 and art project depicting Juanita Moore was defaced during that rally. The artists will restore the original artwork. Rally starts at 11 00am and runs to 02 00pm. A little screens are of postal workers being robbed in San Francisco. Usps sent us this video. They say it happened on tuesday evening in the Mission District on 26 and san jose avenue. The mail carrier was not seriously hurt and police are now still looking for that suspect. Officials say just in the last 2 weeks, there have been a total of 5 mil carrier robberies in the city. 2 people in downtown walnut creek. They were at gunpoint after leaving dinners. All happened wednesday night. Right near botelho. Drivein locust street in broadway plaza. Police say 2 men approached the victims, one of them pointed a gun and demanded that they give up their belongings. They got into a nearby white sedan and took off. No injuries were reported. But anyone information you are urged to contact walnut creek police. In the south bay, 2 women were arrested for organized retail theft and grand theft. This was out of the great mall in milpitas. Police say Patrol Officer stopped the car that the women were in and found nearly 1900 worth of merchandise that they believe was stolen from a nearby marshals. They also apparently had a tool that was used to remove security sensors. This happened on wednesday. Police say one of them had a felony warrant for grand theft. The stolen merchandise was returned to marshalls. Well, Pleasanton Police have arrested 2 people that they accused of having an unregistered gun, fake ids and were driving a stolen car. There was a brief chase on 6. 80, before officers were able to pull them over. And thats when they found a loaded handgun beneath the drivers seat. The 2 occupants of the car were arrested and booked into the santa rita jail. The car was returned to its Rightful Owner in good condition. Well, new this morning, a group of San Francisco Business Leaders have launched a new campaign to help change the image of the city. The head of pick Global Economic summit next month. The campaign is called. It all starts here. And the Business Leaders say they plan to blanket the city with billboards and ads featuring things that make San Francisco great. The groups cochair is larry baer, the ceo good giants. And he says the conditions here in the city arent as bad as the national headlines. Make it out to be. Tens of thousands of people, including President Biden and other heads of state are set to come for that economic summit starting on november. 11th. Well, if you have not paid your taxes just yet, youre in luck. Because this week, the deadline to submit federal and state taxes was actually pushed back yet again to mid november. Couple correspondent on wallace has more on what the tax deadline extension could actually mean for californias budget. As the state continues to grapple with a million doubt billion dollar deficit. For the second time this year, the irs and state Franchise Tax board have delayed the tax filing deadline for millions of californians. The new deadline date november 16. Earlier this year as a result of deadly winter storms. The tax deadline was pushed back from the usual april 15th date to midoctober. Now that its been pushed back by another month. Government Officials Say that means the state will not know whats to tax revenues until at least midnovember. The California Department of finance expects 42 billion dollars to come in by midnovember. But given the uncertainty of the markets, deputy director, a few palmer says theres always a possibility less money than that actually comes in a big question. Mark. A big if. Still is out there and were in the middle of that could have major ramifications for the states 30 plus billion dollar budget deficit. But palmer says the good news for now as of the most uptodate data from july and august, the states revenues were coming in as projected 22 billion dollars coming in as expected during those months. Still amid the new tax deadline extension, he stresses cautious optimism. Thats a shift that the state has never had to do before in terms of delaying tax payments for that long, a period of time.
