Instead, it would only be to protect people with officials here at the city thing that really to prevent any more killings that comes just 6 months after the ground killing. Take a look. This is video from earlier this year. Back in april. This was when a young person by the name of banco brown was shot and killed by security while attempting to leave a walgreens with a bag of stolen goods. This law was brought forth by supervisor dean preston, who says at the time of that situation, the City Police Code allowed security to draw their guns, not only in response to an actual threat to people, but in the defense of property. This new proposal that was approved would remove any type o word property reference with officials saying that state guidelines and training of these officers have previously said that drawing a weapon may escalate situations, adding that the state training already limits trying a weapon to situations of defending life, but not property. They also went on to say that Community Members have criticized the local law saying that the drawing of a gun on a suspected shoplifter for petty theft is and was an inappropriate response. You dont know much. You say, but you do know one golden rule, which is. Yeah, it comes down to one simple rule. Never turn your back on the ocean. You ever seen anybody in danger here or you look out and go, wow. Thats a little too close for comfort. I havent seen. You know. Definitely lived long enough that ive heard that the these conditions have taken the lives of people and their dogs. Been in a lot of dangerous situations surfing where you get you caught in a rip. You know, you get pulled underwater. Youre really tired. And you wonder if you make your way back in. But, you know, again, thats the more experienced people who are accustomed to being in the ocean. A lot on weekends and weather like this. We tend to get a lot of people escaping the heat coming. The ocean cool down and we have a combination of big waves. Yesterday we started with the fog this morning. None of it. Look at San Francisco, the rest of the bay sitting under deep blue skies. We are going to see these blue skies through the day and under them, temperatures are going to climb pretty quickly. High pressure ridge stays with us today tomorrow into friday. After that, though, we see another pendulum shift and weve got 2 lowpressure areas anchoring this cooler air mass weekend and a really cool things off for us today. All of the bayshore san jose and the rest of the south bay, much of the peninsula. These go into effect here in just a couple of hours at 11 00am. Lasting through the day overnight into 11 00pm of tomorrow. Both of these days, our hottest in the forecast into the weekend, though things take a big turn will see showers developing offshore on saturday and moving into the bay area on sunday. So watch out for some rain on sunday, especially for the north bay, but also for the rest of us, too. Just make sure to plan around that. As you plan out your weekends now, todays daytime highs will be in the mid 80s for San Francisco. Even in Golden Gate Park at 84 daly, city in half moon bay. Highs in the 80s all the way to the coast and some upper 90s inland friday will be much more tolerable but still warm. The weekend really cools things off. Thats when only be in the low 70s at the very warmest with a chance of showers likely on sunday right now. All right, john, thank you for that as well. Were starting to see some improvement on. Our san mateo bridge last hour, we had an accident drive times would up to about 46 minutes. Now thats clear. Were down to about 35, if youre traveling from a 80 to 101, bay bridge. Right now. 15 minutes down from 25 minutes there. The on the south bay, you still see that a little red and orange on the map. So about 15 minutes, if you are heading for a 5 up towards menlo park over the east bay. 43 minutes. Alien showdown in milpitas. So bill 6. 80, through still a little busy recovering from an accident in the last hour and along a te crockett down towards the maze. Just short of 30 minutes story is is back to you. All right. Time to talk winners and losers on wall street. We have financial expert rob black joining us this morning. Rob, good to see you. Im looking at the markets were kind of off a bit. Everythings kind of in the red. What do you thinks move the needle and what headlines you track him. Well, earnings season doing fine. It just started for the 3rd quarter of the year. Tonight we get netflix and tesla. Whats hurting the market . Todays bidens in israel talking about spending hundreds millions of dollars. And allowing aid into the palestinians. Jim jordan, we dont have a house speaker. Our international s at home arab leaders are in jordan yet president is g and puting in china. So a lot of International Leaders kind of stuff upsetting the market or creates anxiety. So thats whats happening. Procter gamble had a good quarter. Of course they did because they raised prices and they lowered how much you got. Inflation feels likely to you and me. But to Companies LikeProcter Gamble make toothpaste tide, it works out really, really well for them in the long term. United airlines said next quarter, not going to be great, which kind of says, ok, we came out of the pandemic. We did domestic travel. We did. International travel. Yea. And now were starting to feel a little bit of a hangover looking at a potential recession are slowing economy in the back half of this year. Okay. And before we move to our our second topic of conversation, let me ask you real quick about a x. Whats the headline here . Theyre going to start charging new customers, a dollar. Was it a year just tweet . You said it perfectly. And that kind of says things are changing, obviously on musk overpaid by about 20 billion dollars for twitter. The company has a mask as far as advertising goes. But this is a step in the right direction of trying to monetize the users in getting rid robots in people who its a actors who just want to get out there and and kind of moaning grown. Probably want to pay a dollar a year. This is just being tested in new zealand. It will probably rule out of my assumption. Okay. All so art, second topic of conversation. This was in your winter column. I guess real estate Real Estate Brokers that 6 fee that they draw. Theres an issue with that. Investigators are looking into that. Whats the deal . And theres 3 big things going on to our antitrust case where theyre trying to 24 billion dollars from the National Association realtors for basically collusion. Where the buyers and the Sellers AgentsWork Together to say heres the price and they split that 6 . It sounds like question it really does because they Work Together and its in their interest to get the highest price. The winner here i think is the person is trying to buy the homes to be clear. Austin, the justice departments picking up pressure because they see 6 is way too high. When you compare it to australia or the uk where fees tend to be about 2 on real estate transactions in the United States. The average transaction about 47,000 creates 22,400 in commissions. Thats a the stock market leasing commissions go down from 400 transaction to free the real estate world needs to get 21st century in the bay area to commissions 50 to 75,000 this would save americans about 30 billion dollars a year. Im not saying its going to go but more and more pressure. Those lawsuits are starting to be won by consumers against National Association of realtors. That would rock how that industry works to be a shame to see how were going to be tracking that. See where that goes. And then lastly, lets talk sports. I know football and baseball obviously been trying to expand their audience to something more global. We have the first Football Games out in london. Nba also making some big inroads against their International Audience is urging stubhub came out with a report saying ticket sales are already up 60 versus last year. 120 from international. That includes australia, the uk and brazil. People are coming to the United States to watch these games. Lakers are the biggest draw. The warriors of the biggest draw on the road with the most expensive tickets 92 countries are coming the United States this year. Thats up from 24 last year or up. 24 from last year. So its get interesting thing in for the nba owners. Its all about selling television, right . Obviously the international nikolai victor, let me help work on this one. When move, you know, giannis right there. Again, international stars. I cant say their names but man, are they fun to so thats whats behind all the International Activity that youre seeing on tv. Its all about getting the owners richer with tv rights overseas. All right. Lots of good rob, thank you for joining us today. Well be chatting with rob again tomorrow. So let him know if youve got a company or a topic, you want to talk about facebook, twitter, you got his handles there. You can reach out. Avany pets . Did they did . They do a little. Dont know. So sitting on the floor, sleek, he didnt its like my dog sits right through it. Wow. Okay. Now since been downgraded to 4. 1 right now which is not bad, but were getting from the usgs. It looks like the shake map. The people who report did you feel it . Most people reporting it is sort of like a light to week compared to the earthquakes that youve been through. Would you also feel this was sort of on the weaker side or where would you place it . Yeah, was probably on average. Was a huge. But, you know, when you feel like that, you really wonder, okay, what is it like . You know, really happened, you know, was go something big. Yeah. And also im assuming that youre prepared. Yeah, i do have yes, you are. Yeah. Oh, everything a d and then the phone went off. That you know, yeah, its a but that was so we yeah. That was the that was the feeling we got here to johns phone, went off our both of our phones, you know, gave us that alert, which is and thats like the first time i think always like thank. Thank you, judge. You cant be late for all by the way, everybodys phone off. Yeah. Johns went off right here in the studio. Was was the drill night and then i and initially said that 5. 7, which i was like, downgraded to that 4. 1. So can breathe a little but yesterday was a loma prieta anniversary. It was member that another 30 another reminder. Weve got to get those earthquake hits, you know, set ready to go. I dont know if we can bring that shake mac back up again and have john kind of walk us through. What that represents here it is on the screen. And john, so the colors are what tell us what people are reporting right yet. And it does seem like a lot of people in sacramento county, Solano County and then Contra Costa County are saying those reports right now, of course, clayton being pretty nearby. Concord. Right now we have over 1000 reports of people feeling it on the official usgs site. But you can also see reports of people feeling it in areas like oakland, even though it was very minor rattle and those spots right there. But again, this was around 09 21am. So if you did feel it yourself, that was that few didnt even feel youre probably got the alert on your phone sure. So, john, b scientific moment tell me, i mean, because like james is saying, you look at is a coincidence that its wicked hot and, you know, we tend to get earthquakes. Tell me about the earthquake. Weather has you know, theres no like actual Scientific Evidence of those 2 things being connected. There are some scientists that have, you know, really tried to like to get in there and see, ok, maybe this could be a correlation that fought would be rupturing, it could really some sort of heat or Something Like that. But nothing actually like significant. That would tie the 2 is here. We are on the hottest days today and tomorrow that weve seen in a while. I know. And like you said, loma prieta rounds year as so, you know, today is going to be a hot one those of you inland, especially out in the delta.
