Theyve what are you keeping an eye on . Well, we have a nice, big improvement for those who want a little autumn weather back again that we have it in this forecast will start feeling that way. Looks like today and into certainly early and the week ahead. Thats a picture there. Thats the Golden Gate Bridge from our sutro camera. And you can see all of this fall thats coming on. And we have the change of the winds going on, welcoming in that marine right above us. Its warmer. Its drier and all of that kind of business. But its now a change. So thats at least giving us a surface wind going to take the edge off those temperatures this afternoon onshore as we have uptick, a very dramatic here, except in some selective spots here. But thats okay. Stepbystep waiting for our front to drop south. That will be tomorrow. Now on the border, current temperatures about 60 ish for good chunk of the east bay, antioch racing ahead at 65 50s up north. 48 from a bottle. 58 for San Francisco and 54. Meanwhile, for Half Moon Bay, there it is in all its glory coming our way. This will be tomorrow. Probably maybe in the morning hours, but certainly into the afternoon, just kind of sprinkling some showers across the region. Not a whole lot, but we dont need a whole lot kind of moisten up the ground level. Thats the important thing we cannot watch place here. What we have going on right now is kind of the the marine layer is being squashed a little bit here with the arrival of this front. Little in the way some sprinkles out to sea as well. Theres the thickening marine layer by tomorrow morning. But we have a front this goaround as well. And theres the line of showers. It looks impressive and kind falls apart a little bit by the time he gets the bay area. But there you have it. Some leftover showers all the way through monday afternoon amounts on looks like San Francisco and around the bay. You might get a dine or maybe a nickel and some pennies with this. So not a whole lot will be under a 10th of an inch into tuesday. Theres another little secondary wave that will be very, very modest. But very typical the lion share will be north bay where you might pick up as much as a half an inch of rain onshore winds there we this afternoon, we did. Wed this been kind of turned off. We tend to get them popping in the afternoon anyway, but they havent been as active as they usually to be coming in on shore ways. Thats going to continue overnight into tomorrow morning right there, Solano County. Look at that in cortina straight as well. Now thats half of the frontal passages in the winds arent real dramatic with this front, sometimes with these winter events when they come in from the northwest, thats we get a lot of wind action to clearing and cooler breezy near 90 well inland. 70s covered the bay. Meanwhile, fairly weak monday into tuesday. A few showers. Autumn is back on the table and 70s inland. Yeah, thats correct. Places that were looking at almost 100 yesterday are looking at 70s going on inland as early as monday into tuesday. They have this rain event. Of course. Yes. But then afterwards we start climbing, temperaturewise a little bit. Well get to the 70s in the bay and maybe approach about 80 inland towards the end of the week today. Again, heres a look at 70 degrees for San Francisco. 76 for oakland. Things will be clearing out in time for the plains by this afternoon. So were looking good on that blue sky returning. 86 warm and sunny san jose 90 for antioch. We have lower 80s still lighting up the east bay shoreline. Thats still pretty warm. But 66 for half moon base with the coast. Much cooler next couple days ahead. There you have a kind of gloomy monday into tuesday as temperatures fall big drop on monday. A little recovery into tuesday. But more of a flavor of autumn for those who really want okay. Got look forward into the damp. All right. Thank you so much, dave. Taking a live look now at the bay bridge this morning. 7. 46. This sunday, looking like such a nice and sunny day, another good day for the blue angels in the other aviators out there to take to the friendly skies up above. Dave, what are you keeping an eye on . Well, we have some afford kind of left over a little bit here. Its now up the coast. Thats a typical place. Its always has trouble getting out of here like Half Moon Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge is the other place. Where tends to hover a little bit, both coming and going. But the big issue is little breeze going on here. Marine layers come back again. It just doesnt moisten upper atmosphere at ground level, which is a plus. But cools us down a little bit. So were one step and the direction were going into next week. Much cooler ahead. Days ahead, lower 60s light of the east bay shoreline for now 65 antioch, up in the north bay, mostly 50s with 55 out there to Half Moon Bay headed to tahoe. Also watching the temperature drop into the upper 50s as you see tuesday into wednesday, any shower activity that looks to be the south that pops up a little bit in the mountain chain of touch. Lets watch it in future cast for we have the marine layer kind of picking up a little bit with this front out to sea. Theres what we see today later on. Little flare up there. Then by monday morning, well have a lot overcast and that marine layer back with the fog and blah, blah. But its in the afternoon. We have our chance of rain showers. And yes, it looks like it falls apart quite a bit. Were not going to be a lot of this thing, but just enough to get moisten up the ground here called scattered showers. The lion share will be in the north bay and it gets a little bit more sparse heading to the south. Thats the first way there is a weak, weak secondary wave expected by tuesday. So monday, tuesday, expect a lot of blue skies. The morning layer cooler temperatures onshore winds. The whole package kind of a transition into fall longer range forecast. We get through what weve got for monday as we talked about. There you have it monday morning. Another week way for tuesday. The on that open up the skies. We do have a pop of offshore winds and then getting into next week. And a look ahead to this. And it looks like we probably wont get anything out of this except the cooler temperatures. The shift of winds here, miami gets get some coastal sprinkles. Way to get a little closer. See what happens on next weekends front, 70 for San Francisco. Thats a big improvement from yesterday. The 60s along the coast will do about 76 for burlingame, 79 foster city, lower 80s out of that pocket. And meanwhile, in the south bay, middle 80s with 91 for morgan hill, 89 for los gatos. Big improvement happening. Lower 80s east bay shoreline, tri valley. We might have a couple pockets of 90 89 or so well do it. So youre not feeling the full effects that marine layer yet. 72 for berkeley, richmond, 73, 74 for vallejo. 88 for fairfield. 83 for napa and santa rosa at 87 7 day forecast. Theres the autumnal feel lower 70s for monday. Well get up to about 80 to kind of finish out the balance of the week into next weekend. Lets get some scattered clouds and theyre just for good measure on saturday. Still watching to see if we get hit by maybe a few little showers. That system looks to be falling apart. You know, the seasons for early, we are getting treated by premature rain coming in from the northwest like for january. Be more of a shame. But ok. And so were getting another cool down. Looks like in the next weekend, okay. Very good to have the jacket and umbrella ready. Thats right. Thanks to. And weve had a little bit of that onshore wind trying to sneak in just a bit that marine layer saying hi in the form of some fog and all of that means cooler temperatures for everybody today. It could be most apparent, though, around the bay and serve a long the coast could take a while to get inland. But you have lower numbers coming your way, too. Heres a live shot of the east bay shoreline. And theres the fog kind of entrenched at the porte levels here. Give a little time to kind of mix out a little bit here. And with all of that, we should see those sunny skies work for just about everybody as we approach around the noon hour, although a little pesky along the coastal areas a bit. So going to be like yesterday. Now onshore winds at hand here. Theyre very weak from this shot, but they will pick up later on this afternoon with that continuation of that breeze lower 60s cover, good chunk of the east bay shoreline for now 50s up north. 55 for Half Moon Bay and 65. Meanwhile for san jose and those negative numbers mean yes, today is a colder morning. Then we had this time from yesterday. What were really waiting for, however, is this front dropping south and getting kind of our marine layer kind of squashed up a little bit here as its between these 2 systems with this high that weve enjoyed or had over our heads pretty much the last couple of days. Meanwhile, here comes this front and it will bring with it. Some showers expected for monday and maybe lingering a Little Tuesday now for today, the sunshine returns. 83 at high noon at 3 oclock. 86 will be racing for some lower 90s inland, but thats an improvement from yesterday. Still be warm well inland as temperatures reached a near about 90 or so the little relief working around the bay and along the coast as the struggle for autumn begins some showers into early next week. Kron 4 morning. Welcome back to kron. 4 morning news. Good morning, everybody. A little bit of a treat going on for today. Our good friend. The fog is back here. It is spilled into the bay completely covering up the east bay shoreline. Nice cooling mechanism onshore winds all working in tandem here. As we make the change from what really felt like summer, the last couple of days in 2 more in the tumble feel almost winter, like with some rain coming our way early into next week. Lets go to the winds first. Heres a little bit of a minor shift happening. Northwesterly. Its most apparent along the coast. San francisco little bit in oakland that will build later today as it takes that corridor right across to the quirkiness straight and often the Solano County that you will expect this afternoon and this evening. But some of the wind has been turned down because of this high. Now thats starting to lift. So the natural winds can start picking up. And that also send some of that cooler marine air off towards the east. But still temperatures aloft in this afternoon. 65 right now, 60 for concord and livermore east bay 60 ish 50s. Meanwhile, up north and 55 for Half Moon Bay. Now there it is. Our front. Thats that collection of cloud cover. You see and its pretty much. Could a breakup ready . Much right across the bay. In other words, the north bay is going to get kind of the lion share. Very typical with these systems coming out of the gulf of alaska and much more modest heading to the east and the south bays where you just get just little sprinkle in the south bay handing it over future cast for as we watch this go forward in the marine layer is kind of getting, you know, squished a little bit by the change of the seasons by monday morning, kind of overcast. And thats what you can expect for monday. Mostly cloudy, gloomy, little breezy as well. The rain gets here into the afternoon. So its not going to be morning commute. Think it will be in the afternoon for the evening commute may be, but must be the wet roads. Leftovers. You can see about 4. 30. Thats very scattered about. There is another little shoe to fall, but its not an equally size shoes. So maybe you can even use that analogy. Just a little sprinkle afterwards in the tuesday, potentially, again, cloudy on tuesday. And with that more fall feel the rest of the week is kind of recovery act a little bit as temperatures climb and its wake temperature winds rather. Heres the pop i mentioned earlier on shore being fortified by this front, too. So its not just the change of temperatures across the bay. Then we get to the overnight and the winds still continue particularly around the Carquinez Strait. You can see and that bring some of that marine Layer Moisture off towards the east a bit too. Lets see. Weve got lined up here. Clearing and cooler is expected for today, breezy near about 90 well inland. But 70s around the bay. And this is the Golden Gate Bridge to give you an idea help aggressive. The fog is this morning. Monday tuesday, few showers working here, kind of gloomy and all that kind of stuff. Autumn is back. 70s even inland. Yes, inland places. Thats all near 100 from yesterday. And then late in the week, scattered clouds by friday, saturday, mild 70s for the bay and 80 ish and for thursday. Friday. By the way, to take a look at next weekend. Doesnt look like were getting a role earned a shot of rain. There is a front the kind of tries to work its magic. But this much weaker by the time it gets to land. 74 San Francisco today, but 76 oakland, 86 for san jose. We still have those 90s left over, particularly in the far east bay east bay shoreline, about 80 ish. 76 going on for open. But that will him prove if you want autumn back. Its back monday and tuesday. Were at 73, 77 by tuesday and spring back to some lower 80s. We get to the middle to latter portion of the week. So got everything for everybody wanted summer we had yesterday. You want all weve got a coming up. So just got to a wild mixture going on that we do. But all theyre in manageable. It is. All right. Thanks very much. Day. Climate Scientists Say that this september was the hottest on record for our planet. Taking a live look now at the Golden Gate Bridge where its looking very spooky out there. Giving us a nice preview of what halloween could look like. But dave, hopefully this does not affect the air show today. Now, that should clear up. For the most part, the golden gate is always a tough area. Also, we see the same thing to the east bay shoreline as youll notice. Its just because the marine layer came in overnight. We have the onshore winds now that we have the sun joining us get some mixing action here and well take care of this as we approach around the noon hour, well still have the winds and they will pick up more oven westerly direction. Onshore expected later on this afternoon and this evening continue overnight as we see the arrival of that front, we dont those temperatures mostly 60s inland. As you can see, 71 for antioch. Meanwhile, some 50s hanging on up there north 55 Half Moon Bay, 70 for san jose right there. There it is upstream as youll notice, looks much more imposing that will actually turn out to be because as we see the models a kind of falls apart across the bay area. But it will do the trick moisten up that ground level. Help us out a little bit by midweek as we start to get more of that offshore wind start to cook in here. So for today, we open up the skies nicely into the fog return late this afternoon or into the evening hours. Here comes the cloud cover. Thats a good thick deck of cloud cover. So you can expect kind of gloomy skies for your monday morning commute looks pretty good as we approach into the afternoon, rain showers and lingering a little bit into the evening commute. But very, very sparse by that point. Maybe some wet roads and some puddles and so forth. We continue cloudy overnight into tuesday and there is another little spurt we might have a few little showers into tuesday. Were going to be done with all that traffic go to mostly sunny as we get to wednesday thursday, the winds they pick up this afternoon and stay that way overnight through your monday morning. So little breezy as you start your day on monday that on the chilly side as well. So ity going to shock to the system from what you remember on friday. Plus, some of those onshore winds working here. The golden gate as we stand high above everything clearing and cool expected for today, breezy we do have a temperatures still in love about 90 or so expected. But 70s for the bay early week, monday, tuesday, few showers still there. Autumn is back. Weve got 70 going on well inland. These are in places each reach almost 100 this weekend and then for later in the week, a gradual warming trend. We expect some scattered clouds in here for thursday may. Well, friday and into saturday. The models want to say theres little chance of rain, but we dont know if thats actually going to develop on that. We make clear that out by the time we get here, but least well get that front. Thats a good plus 70 for San Francisco. 76 oakland, 86 san jose. Theres a gander of temperatures and learn about 90 ish in the far east bay. Meanwhile, you see a lot of 80s up north. So its a cooling process. Its more pronounced tomorrow for everybody. 73 monday and 77 on tuesday. Again, lion share of anything we get will be on monday and as far as measurable amounts for San Francisco in much of the bay. Its a dime or less with that. But again, it moisten up the ground level that we need. Stephanie. All right, dave, thank you. October is the month of many things. But did you also know its vegetarian month . Well, here in the bay area, there are a growing number of options for those living, the lifestyle and joining us to share options at their restaurant is executive chef Katie Reicher from greens based in San Francisco. Good morning to you. Good morning. Thank you so much for joining us for having me. And you brought something credibly delicious looking but first, tell us a bit about your restaurant. Its been around since 1979. Yes, thats right. So we were founded by the San Francisco zen center and 1979, am. And weve kind of started out as a zen. Work and then we kind of transformed into the restaurant that we are today. Wow, its incredible. And walk us through some of these options that really celebrate all kinds of vegetables. Yeah. So not only is october my favorite month because its been a chair but its also a transition month. Were very lucky in the bay area to have a mix of some summer vegetables. And were also starting to transition into fall. And the bay areas also really exciting because we have so many little microclimates and you hear that a lot. But really what that means is that one farm will have some vegetables that are more suited for colder climates, like our own farm, green gulch. Then all the other farms that have lots of sun and they have the hot climate for things like tomatoes and eggplants. And right now we have all of it. So. Im right here in front of me is one of our most requested pizzas. This is roasted fig pizza with a real because, about really yeah. How do how do you prepare that . How you put that together . Yes. We use our classic corn meal pizza cross. So we always have this cross no matter what is on top of our pizza back. Its fermented in the and then we use it all day long. Its made fresh every day. Then we add some part. Onions roasted all farms. And then we top it with some rogue once its baked. Wow, incredible. And some other options that you have on the table here. Yeah. Im also from green goals. We the kale and apple salad. So the kale and apples are both from green gulch. Like i said, there are colder climates. So weve actually been enjoying this kill all summer long, which is really, really special. But once it starts to get a little colder, we really like to have kill salads on the menu. All right. Yeah, im already a fan. Im a big kill over. So haha. Yeah, its healthy and our next dish here is our tofu brush up. So this dish is very special. It cycles on and off our menu every few months. Butd its actually been on our menu almost consistently for over 40 years. So this is a real classic here. We have it with some harris, a sauce, a fall to so we have some persimmon and pomegranate and their little cashew cream on this play grilled lemon for squeezing on ok, and how do you decide which items go on the menu and we . How do you make sure all these flavors also complement each other, too . Yes, its big challenge for us where huge so some people think of us as fine dining. We actually like to say were upscale, we have a lot of guests coming through the doors every day. Will serve sometimes almost 1000 people a day on our busiest so its true. Its lot of but we actually news well in and we take a world approach that we have a chart that we use. We try to make sure that complements each other. We want to represent as many countries and and flavors as possible and be as diverse as we can our menu. And how do you make sure youre also creating something that appeals to people who arent vegetarian . 24 7. Yeah. Thats one of favorite hit. Theres always that one ground. The dad. Terri and daughter. But everyone always ends up feeling really satisfied. And, you know, we kind of do that by. Putting things that are familiar. So Everybody Loves a pizza. Pastas are really and then we try to do things that i actually be. A little bit more recognizable. So this dish, for example, is a very classic iteration of an eggplant role, a so i think whether youre vegetarian or not, thats something that could appeal to somebody who eats meat. Right. And i see that theres cheese in there too. And who doesnt love . Out there. Yes, we do use cheese and Dairy Products and eggs greens. But almost everything on our menu could be made. But we do still have our commitment to being as natural as possible. So we dont use processed cheese substitutes, but were very thoughtful when we do make vegan substitution. So well try it with cashew cream will try it with Nutritional Yeast and other more natural things. But if we omit something, its because we feel that you dont really need to substitute. So its very thoughtful. I want to make sure we get to the other 2 dishes you brought today. Yes, walk us through that. All right. This one is actually very exciting. This is a former thomas, which i probably chick peas stu, i suppose from egypt topped with some tomatoes and whats really fun about this one is that its using shared cultures. Santa maria can keep so many so made in collaboration with slow foods east the santa maria pinky toe being as very culturally significant to california. And its been lost in the last few decades. So were very proud to be using the peta that goes with it is house made, of course and then our last dish another green gulch dish. This is a variety of broccoli. Copper flowering brock leasing of lots of nice sweet leaves almost looks a little bit like a broccoli raab, but it stopped that bitterness that you have for broccoli. Its its very sweet and delicious. We top it with a garlic tahini sauce and some pomegranate and a little bit of sumac that the pomegranate seeds really offer some nice color on their sure. Yeah. A little bit of acidity plate. So youre not a encourage you to at least have one meal this month. Thats completely vegetarian. And again, where can people find you where at 2 Marina Boulevard and San Francisco right in fort mason. So you have great views of the bay yeah, and you have some great all right. Fantastic will. Still as we wait for some rain showers on your monday and also tuesday, it looks like maybe lingering just a touch right now. Its the fog are trying to fight here a little bit. It still remains at the east bay shoreline shot at the east bay shoreline, kind of filled up with that fog. But its very thin. You can see right aloft. Its pretty sunny. So give the sun little time to do. Its mixing action. 76 already for antioch, most readings in the east bay in the 60s and some taking hold of the north bay as well. 55, meanwhile, 4 Half Moon Bay and that contrast is very stark compared to yesterday. Again, its a different climate than what you left on friday. So its going to be what happened over the weekend. Its like summer went away. So in the bigger perspective here we have it for monday. Theres a little left over for tuesday. The big on is up to the north. Thats a tape weve seen many times over the years on the drought. Almost that action is doing this in january. But this is october. So hopefully this is a side of things to come for another wet season. Our way. Take a break for much of the week. But the models are telling us that will probably fall apart as far as any rain threat getting into the weekend. 74 San Francisco are looking at 60s covering the coast. 76 for burlingame to the south will try about 83 palo alto, redwood city foster city at 79 in the south bay, middle 80s, 91 for morgan hill. Thats an improvement to from yesterday. Lower 80s east bay shoreline, tri valley approaching 90 89 walnut creek in danville. 85 . Ramon, so even inland, youre feeling these effects that will continue tomorrow. Much chillier tomorrow. By the way, 72 a berkeley. And we do mean chilly. Looks like for benicia plenty warm even they can have that onshore wind all day today. 74, the late and 87. Meanwhile, for santa rosa, big drop in temperatures inland, lower 70s. It snaps back pretty quickly to get us up to about 80 degree territory heading into next weekend. Again, got the scattered clouds is what it looks like and we might be getting yeah.
