As the blue angels flew overhead, she thanked the late sen for bringing fleet week air show to San Francisco in 1981 Vice President kamala harris, who has long called the bay area home, flew in for the ceremony. She called feinstein of force and a passionate mentioning that feinstein have courage to take on tough fights. Even in opposition and political peril, especially when her work was in defense of the constitution, paving the way for women in politics, too. The women of america have come a long way. Invited guests ranged from family and friends to colleagues and those who worked for feinstein. It through her many years of service kron fours dan kerman spoke to many of them. He joins us live now from San Francisco city hall. Hes been there all day long. Dan, i its been a pretty moving the service, obviously and talk to us just a little bit about what they were saying. Well, we talked a lot of people as they were entering the event and a lot of Great Stories about working with the senator about stories that happened. Things that they were proud of how the senator inspired again, every memory is different for every person, but they are memories that are instilled in their heads. 2 hours before Dianne Feinsteins memorial invited guest started showing up all with their own connection to the former senator and former mayor his tie and second back in 1974, i worked for the senator in 1990. I was her Northern California finance director, former special assistant to Dianne Feinstein and former San Francisco supervisor, vice chair of the California Democratic party. Its through those experiences. They got to know Dianne Feinstein to somebody that was always looking ahead at what San Franciscos needs work to see a woman take over city hall and run as well as she that was really inspirational. Dianne feinstein had this profound humanity, but it it was coupled with courage. You know, she had the too. Groundbreaking things when everybody said it couldnt be done. For example, the assault weapons taking on the cia about torture, making sure that Domestic Violence against was, you know, elevated to a crime the national level. And while many will remember her for the work she did at city hall or in the senate. Others have more personal stories. What i want to work with, i didnt have a great pair and we were at the first event him esto california at a bill lyons house and she looks at my shoes says you cant wear shoes working for me. And i said, well. Yeah, i dont have that much. She said come over she gave me 200 in 1990, and i went out and bought a pair of shoes. Had those shoes for 15 years. And every time she she to me, she said our those shoe that looking good. Look at a good senator. So as you can tell, a really wide range of stories from one person to another. What they remember about her. And while senator feinstein services over, certainly those memories and that inspiration will continue to live on and live at city hall. Dan kerman kron. 4 news. I love that a shoe story, dan. And i think that thats something a lot of people say, you know, she had a warm side about her where she wanted to help folks. But does she also was about law and order and about making things happen, which is definitely says a lot about who she was. Dan agrees. For dead out there and jacket trying to get me out of this heat, people were, you know, sweating through the Memorial Service. Happy to do it. But what a day to have that Outdoor Service in San Francisco as we see city hall there. The sun has just been baking on the city baking on the bay all the way to the coast. Quite a unique weather day. Yeah, definitely still beating down here at. 5 oclock this evening. Kron chief meteorologist Lawrence Karnow here with a look at how much longer were going to be bacon. And this year weve got another day to go of the real heat. Then i think were going to start to see a little crack. In this ridge of High Pressure and may be cooling things down, least along the coastline head into saturday. Right now, were just swell during all the way the coastline temperatures soaring out toward the beaches, 80s. Even a couple of 90s. I saw awesome weather sites near the coast. So we may have broken some records out toward the beaches. Still tabulating that. But boy was a Beautiful Day to get out there along the coast. This a live shot ofw half moon bay. Few folks out there enjoying the warm temperatures and the cool waters out there along the coastline. And why not . I mean, its been some beautiful weather. And here we go. Get the Richmond District just a little bit of a sea breeze and youre down to 75 beautiful 78 degrees right now in daly city along the coastline in the pacific, a 73 at the half. Moon bay. Still 82 degrees there. And then you jump inside the bay. Those temperatures pop up in the 90s in places like san carlos, san mateo, youre looking at 92 degrees. Also, 92 in foster city, the south bay enjoy some very hot temperatures out there right now for the south bay. 94 in cupertino. 95 in campbell. And this is that type of weather. We get those offshore winds at this time of year as season approaches the coastline really starting to heat up. And so those offshore winds begin to break down just a little bit now. But, you know, its staying hot for at least another day here. So weve got another round of some heat advisories in effect for tomorrow into San Francisco down the peninsula. Parts of the east bay, too. When exactly will this heat wave come to an end . We will be talking about that coming up a few minutes. All right, lawrence, thank you. Of course, when it came down to actually expand and like noel said earlier, we heard rumors that was the worst kept secret in the bay area over the last week. But now its officially official. The wnba is coming to the bay. I pressed joe lake up for a team name today. But he assured me that decision has not yet been made. The team will be headquartered in oakland at the war years old practice facility. The team will begin play in 2025 and according to joe lake up a title will come shortly after. Its a very, very exciting moment to fulfill a dream that ive always had for womens basketball. And i will say what i said at a press conference it does say this. First press conference of the words as we will win a championship in the first 5 years. And im telling you right now, we will win. So nothing really to cool you down a whole lot yet. High pressure to stick around, at least for another day. So were going to see some hot weather. I think its still hot spots as we get into saturday to then a big cool down coming our way as we get into sunday. But yeah, we may have broken some records today. Still put those together.
