In the last hour, we follow those events live as they happen. Fact, kron fours will tran was outside the steps of San Francisco city hall following that procession heading into the rotunda. Will. It is official. You can go inside city hall, right this very moment and pay your respects to senator Dianne Feinstein. You can see the American Flag over my right shoulder. A lot of dignitaries. They stayed. Past her time of arrival, she actually came air a little bit earlier than promise. Let me show you video. We were told that her casket would arrive at 8. 30, in the morning. But at around said 5 minutes out. 5 minutes out to be on standby and sure enough at 8 oclock in the morning she arrived. The hearse pulled up right in front of city hall and outside stood her family members. Her daughter, katherine. Grandchild. The casket going past them and then they instantly put their hand over their hearts. Quiet moment. Of course, a lot of dignitaries standing in salute as she when to the place where it all started coming full circle. This is where she started her political careers 1969. As supervisor of San Francisco and then became the first female president of the board of supervisors. Let me show you video. A live picture inside city hall. The leading edge of that movement that saw more women come into politics after 1992 than ever before. We will continue to follow the events there at San Francisco city hall as they play out over the course of the morning with the arrival of nancy pelosi. London breed who talks about how, you know, feinstein was huge in shaping her political desires and that she played in a junior high band and they were gone as feinsteins and then, you know, shes hugely inspired by senator feinstein. I mean, if if if einstein is called the forever mayor by nancy pelosi, then willie brown is the forever go as a man. Vice president Kamala Harris, u. S. And we were commenting off camera just how poetic it sort of is that it was back in 19 78 on those very same steps that senator feinstein. Announced to the world. The tragic assassination of then mayor george no mask on emma stoney and supervisor harvey milk, a tragic event that catapulted her into the mayors office. And from there and through all the years that passed, it was today that her casket was brought up those very same steps by the honor guard and placed under the rotunda. Coming out of the bay area, take a long history being in Largest Health care, people there on all 4 corners right here on south main in walnut creek to strike again. Is and allegedly 75,000 kaiser workers across the country and its in the last until friday. Workers are protesting labor practice asking for better pay better staffing and its affecting 7 different states. Were talking about washington, colorado, maryland, virginia. And as we mentioned 60,000 coming out of California Bay area, 20,000 of numbers into looking at right now, contract expired over the weekend. And ultimately workers are hoping for a 6. 5 raise the first year of fouryear contract. Currently officials still talking about a 3 raise. But take a look. This is a statement from kaiser. Centers overnight. Think Kaiser Permanente management and Coalition Union representatives are still at the bargaining table. Having worked through the night in an effort to reach an agreement. There has been a lot of progress with agreement is reached on several specific proposal late tuesday and vote. As of right now, theres been no agreement thats been made Emergency Rooms and hospitals remain open, but non urgent procedures and appointments, we may be pushed back back out here live. Upper 70s to low 80s in sf today and at the coastline, too. Great day for a drive up highway one. It will be 80s to 90s elsewhere with daytime highs warmer than yesterday. We a baby. A terrifying experience. But this one ended in a heroic act actually caught on police body camera. Video of pablo officers saved a one weekold baby from choking. You just heard that 911, call somebody calling in to say a baby was choking. It turns that was on milk. And officer Brandon Oswald was just around the corner responded in seconds. There you see him. Hes actually got the baby in his hands, delivering back blows, which is how you deliver cpr to a child. Got the milk out. The baby started crying and what a relief it was to hear that sound on monday. Officer oswald was awarded the prestigious lifesaving medal for his heroic response. Is there leave . So he has a little one at home. Oswald recommends everybody get First Aid Training and learn cpr because you never know when you might be the one who save someones life. In santa clara, this Safeway Store is closing on Stevens Creek boulevard where it has been the Valley Fair Mall for the last 67 years. And safeway sent us a statement saying wasnt an easy decision and they said that all the employees who are at that one, theyll be moved to other stores. Again, so that one closing other news that were fighting back. Health trains suspending Train Service between San Francisco and millbrae. That will be this weekend. Theyre going to be working on an electrification project. So they put in place some limited bus service as a bridge that will be available for you. But you should expect delays and longer travel times because thats always a bit slower to get around. Riders are encouraged to find a different way of getting around, if you can. And this comes weeks after a 4 yearold was most recently was killed in a crosswalk near oracle park. The tenderloin district has had no turn on red signs since 2021 and the statistics their show its been 92 effective in that district over protecting pedestrians and people that are walking. Police are looking for a group that broke into the louis store and Broadway Plaza smashed through the front with a vehicle and stole stuff within a minute. The 911 call came in around 04 30am, in the morning yesterday. And by the time the police got there, it was over. There were 4 vehicles that came 15 people jumped out and burglarized the store within a minute and they took off in the other 3 vehicles, a land rover that they smashed the front window with a left that one there, a man got away with a whole bunch of merchandise. The street that street that the louis stores on had only reopen after being closed this summer. It had been closed after there was a similar breakin at the nordstrom there in 2021. But the police say that is really necessary to keep that street open to traffic. We have to. Street, theres a lot utilities and its also a fire and liens. And how fitting she comes full circle born in San Francisco started her political careers right here at the steps of city hall in 1969. As a supervisor, the first female, president for the board of supervisors and then became mayor in 1978 all the way until 1988. But that was just barely scratching the surface with their political careers. Became senator in 1992 and at the time of her death, she was the oldest serving senator. At 90 years old, she served in many committees, including the Senate Intelligence committee, the first female politician to preside over an inauguration back in president barack obama. She will be known for many things. I hear the words titan trailblazer, so many of her colleagues that once work with are james and darya at San Francisco city hall, they stopped by here to pay their respects as well. And just to make sure that everybody is safe. You can clearly see nobody is walking behind me. Its not not that long ago, but there are who believe bipartisanship in areas of Foreign Policy and domestic policy. She worked, for example, Kay Bailey Hutchinson of texas no street, no, no big proponent of a progressive causes when she was but they into 2. She managed to defy expectations and get the assault weapons ban attached to attached to the crime bill in 1994, when no thought including dennis head in just a committee, joe biden, i in a new chance of getting that done. And that pushes marine layer away from spots like San Francisco, little breezy in the north bay mountains today, gusts as high as 30 miles per hour. So fire danger will be a bit elevated because of that 70s to 80s for San Francisco today. A hot one by city standards, 70s and 80s as well. The coastline and the rest of the bay area even warmer yet with a lot of 80s to even low 90s are very spot today. That will be you in los gatos. Up to 91 degrees for your daytime high. Well, pretty similar across the rest of our inland areas with upper 80s to low 90s, stretching all the way up into the north bay, oakland, even up to 86 degrees. Delay hill, 88 today and santa rosa and pedaling about hovering right around 90 degrees tomorrow through the start of the weekend is actually expected to be even warmer for sf reaching as warm as the mid 80s. So Crystal Clear skies, warm temperatures definitely feels like summer in the bay area, even though it is second week of fall. As for tomorrow through saturday, this is the core of the heat with most of our 90s inland and near 90s by the bay shore will back off of the heat after that by monday to tuesday of next week.
