The governor selected butler to complete the term of the late senator Dianne Feinstein, who passed away late last week. The term runs through january 2025. Butler is the president of emilys list. A Political Organization which works to elect Democratic Women who support abortion rights. Before that she was a Senior Adviser to Vice President Kamala Harris and helped run. Harris is 2020 president ial campaign. She also spent more than a decade as the president of californias Largest Labor union. They havent been back this afternoon yet, but they will be back because this is the beginning of a very busy week. Monday morning, the navys blue angels arrived in the bay area to kick off San Francisco fleet week. Each year fleet week attracts hundreds of thousands of people to the city. Throughout the week, visitors can tour ships docked along San Franciscos waterfront. Theres also High School Band competition, a concert to honor the fallen on thursday evening. Art exhibits and free concerts around the city. But fleet weeks biggest attractions start on friday morning at 11 with the parade of ships arriving through the golden gate, the air show which features Navy Air Force and civilian planes. Well take to the skies throughout the day on friday, saturday and sunday. The Navy Blue Angels always the Main Attraction will be the last to fly each afternoon. Fleet week is a big event for the city of San Francisco in the navy. Weve been planning for months and months for this fleet week. I were so excited that were able to pull and pull in on time. Who the speaker of the house already works for. And its not the republican conference. Gates says mccarthy relied on democrats to pass a shortterm spending bill. As Congress Fights over the annual budget, many lawmakers say. Sending aid to ukraine is still a top priority, but some are threatening to block it unless its paired with Border Security provisions. President biden says hes still confident congress will approve more ukraine funding. So far the u. S. Has allocated more than 100 billion dollars to ukraines war effort. But the president s team says that that money is quickly running out. The vast majority funding has lapsed. Were continuing to work through what we can continue to provide to ukraine. Coast guard has called off the search for a missing swimmer in marin county after a possible shark attack at wildcat beach. According to the sheriffs department, a person was in the water north of Stinson Beach with a group of friends when they went missing. Friends say they saw a shark in the area and blood in the water where their friend was last seen. Officials have not confirmed a shark attack at this time. Although the water search has been suspended for the swimmer, the ground search is still being conducted by First Responders from the National Park service. Former San Francisco. 49 er tight end russ francis died in a plane crash in new york over the weekend. According to police, the small engine plane. Francis was in crashed shortly after takeoff from the lake placid airport. The other person who was in the aircraft also died. And this incident is under investigation. Francis was drafted by the new England Patriots in the first round of the 1975 draft. He was selected to 3 pro bowls. Francis is part of the fortyniners championship team. When he was there when they defeated the Miami Dolphins in super bowl 19. New York State Police have issued an amber alert for a missing 9 yearold girl. They believed has been abducted more than 100 Police Officers and volunteers are looking for charlotte center. She was last seen riding her bike at a campground on saturday at a state park just north of albany. Family members say she wanted to go for one last bike loop around the grounds but never returned. Police found her bicycle, but there was no sign of the girl. Authorities say its quite possible she was abducted. She just turned 9 last month. Now part has appointed a new interim police, a new police chief. It is the interim chief kevin franklin. He had been serving in that role on an interim basis. Now multiple sideshows involving hundreds of people kept Vallejo Police very busy over the weekend. Police say they first started to get reports around 02 30am, in the morning about this. California lawmakers passed that measure while the hollywood writers are on strike. Only 2 states in the country allow striking workers to collect unemployment benefits. Im just involvement and that breaking news in san jose where police are saying to children are dead and a 3rd is recovering in the hospital after falling into a pool at their Day Care Center. Authorities got the call around 9 oclock this morning for a welfare check at the home daycare on fleetwood drive. This is in south san jose. Medical crews responded to the scene and they rushed the 3 children to the hospital. We have learned 2 were pronounced dead. The 3rd child is expected to survive. San jose police and the Santa Clara County District Attorneys Office are now investigating, which is county protocol. After all child deaths, we do not have any word right now about any arrests or if there are any suspects. But we do have kron fours rob nesbitt following the story.
