Best mayors in the history of the city because of what she did in stabilizing the city as well the cable cars which are iconic and theyll forever kind of thing she did that by herself and having taken down the embarcadero freeway. For example, i know whats involved. So i have a great deal of respect, aberration for her, stealing us for wavering commitment to the city of the issue. She cared about. Frankly, im also. Extremely open. She went out on her own terms. She didnt let any of the pundits who have been harassing her for the last year and a half. And some of the critics saying she ought to get out because she couldnt handle this so she couldnt handle that. Dianne feinstein showed the country what her determination means even when it came to her own passing. And i admire her for that, too. He art. Lets go back to the mayor thing for a minute. Ive heard people say, well, you know, Diane Feinstein never really stopped being San Francisco mayor and im thinking, hope was that all good for art . I mean, was she offering input or advice get that . Get to be a little too much. Thats very, very apt. A very apt really loved being there. I think she was a mayor all our life she did it she i used to call it back seat driving because i got a little irritated with that from time to time. But i came to understand where she was coming from. And again, respected her for what she had and the good advice you gave you know, we just with a terrible, terrible covid epidemic. Well, she went through the entirety of the hiv aids epidemic, which was even more deadly than what we just went through last couple of years. She was super shoe is as good as london breed was and what has been on the covid epidemic. She was great with the hiv thing helping set up the first programs in america lobbying for them in the United States. Congress. So mayor are, you know, not to put political labels on people, but its what its what we do. But she was known as a conservative democrat. And you are known affectionately as as a very liberal mayor get. Is that something that was viewed within the confines of San Francisco in the bay area, or is that just sort of a national . Viewpoint . Well, i think i think that here she was more on the conservative side, centrist conservative side, whichever one you want to choose. So thats very accurate. But when she went to the congress, clearly the values and the issue she brought that some of which i was just talking about bade her, a very a progressive liberal United States senator i dont think she ever backed away from that. I think she let the labels come out or from the pundits. She didnt try to label or self. Hey, artist. Katherine, you have great and anecdotes about people whove after worked with the mother. Theresa comes to mind. So do you have any stories about Dianne Feinstein you know, we wouldnt things we wouldnt otherwise hear about . No, we dont like each other most of the time. So we didnt hang up. But we did Work Together on issues that involve San Francisco and we like each other. When we did that. That was just on some of these other political issues that we didnt like each other up talking about politically not personally personally. We got very well most of the time it was around ceremonial movements or ceremonial activities on the city. So when was hosting the queen of england. I was because we were part of the city family, but she handled herself. I remember i kept marveling at her. How to her. Her class, how she was so comfortable dealing with the queen of england or the pope of the catholic church. And i learned from watching her deal with such grace with people that are internationally famous. I think its fair to also say you need their view cared for the embarcadero freeway and Mother Nature came along and took care of that for both thing. It. Okay. Yeah. To her 3 years before i made the decision she put something on the ballot to demolish the embarcadero freeway and it more people wanted it up because of its convenience as freeway exit off the bridge and off the freeway. In 1989, i had opportunity thanks to the earthquake. We had a choice whether we should rebuild it the way the state and the federal government wanted us to or the way a lot of us who are living in the city by that time realizing what a blight was and how it blocked the entire ferry building, which was a slum at that time. We look at it today and its as beautiful as the cable car she put together. But i made that decision and i knew i was going to be putting it up for a vote because i didnt want to take the risk. Last i had some 22,000 people signed a petition to keep it up, but we got it down in time before they did anything about it today. Just as with the people who opposed bear feinstein, i cant find anybody who thinks it was a bad decision today. But back the it was pretty controversial. Yeah. And you would remember our dad knows i knew you would Great Stories and insights. Thank you so much, from the comfort of armchair. In in your living room. Haha. Thank you, mayor. Good evening.
