All of these people have to go to antioch for their nearest target location. Target said in a statement they cannot keep operating these stores because of theft and organized retail crime. They say they feel both their team and the guests are at risk and its contributing to an unstable business. Target says they made attempts to stop the thieves, but they were unsuccessful. Target is closing their stores on folsom street in San Francisco, on broadway, in oakland and here in pittsburgh, the 3 Bay Area Stores arent the only ones that are closing target. Also closed 3 stores in portland, oregon, 2 in seattle and one in east harlem, new york. The stores will close by october. 21st, even with these closures, target still has 32 stores in the San Francisco bay area. Shes proposing a requirement for people to be screened to prove that theyre addicted to drugs and they would have to start treatment. People are not accepting help. And so now its time to make sure. That were cutting off resources that continue to allow this behavior to occur with out the economy, without someone involved in a Treatment Program that could lead to a better life. The Human Services agency that oeersees the Financial Assistance program says this applies only to single adults between 18 and 65 years. Old who deal with dependence on drugs and do not have children. And right now about 5200 people are receiving the Cash Payments anywhere between 10700 per month as it stands today, people qualify for that money by self declaring that theyre suffering from Substance Abuse disorder. Supervisor matt dorsey, who has dealt with addiction himself is in support of mayor breeds propose changes. We also know the course of interventions can work. This approach reflects a key principle in the National Institute on drug abuse. The treatment doesnt needs to be voluntary.
