Its 12, 0, 5, lets talk about our forecast. Taking a live look at downtown San Francisco. It was nice and toasty all weekend long in the city with the fog kind of rolling in and out as it does. Kron 4 meteorologist kyla grogan here with more details on what we can expect. Hey, kyla. Yeah, its been a little bit of a wild ride. I saw a last night when i was looking out of my window at the bay and we do have some unsettled weather out there. Some tropical moisture has made its way towards us. That is bringing us some of the clouds that you see right now. As we take a live look from the inner east bay. And its also part of what is going to make our forecast a little bit interesting over the next 24 hours right now to get 70 degrees in San Francisco. 73 oakland, you see some upper 70s in san jose. Heres the heat in livermore already at 86 degrees. 84 in concord, 77 in santa rosa. So we have low pressure to the south of us. High pressure to the north of us. One bringing u. S. Tropical moisture. The other one bringing us heat and were kind of stuck between the 2. So as we take a look at our Storm Tracker right now. You can see that counter clockwise circulation around that low pressure system dragging in that moisture and lightning along with it. Thats why we got a trace of rain in some spots in the overnight last night. Nothing too significant as far as totals. But you can see where that continues. As we go throughout the day today. Now, thankfully, a lot of this lightning staying offshore, although im starting to see some pop up in the sierra. So that is where want to keep an eye out for today. As far as the lightning concerns. A lot of this, though, just virga thats likely not hitting the ground, meaning it starts off as rain by the time it makes it to the surface it evaporates. But you see offshore that Lightning Strike that was happening there. Today well look at heat for the inner east bay to the tune of some triple digits that were going to see slightly cooler temperatures up in the inner north bay looking out for 90s. You can see same story for the south and around the bay itself. Kind of a mix. 68 in San Francisco, 77 in oakland and about 87 in fremont. Ill be back well talk about how long that heat is going to last. For now. Ill send it back to tyler, thank you. The 2 sides were set to meet before noon as we get more information coming out of their meeting. Well keep you updated in the newsroom. Michael thomas kron, 4 news. 12, 15 here. Lets talk about our forecast. Taking a live look across the city there. I think were supposed to be able thats Golden Gate Park there. Of outsidelands was big, big crowds out there. But it was socked in with all weekend long. Come from meteorologist kyla grogan here with more details on that fog sticking around. Yes, weve we kicked a little bit on saturday, but sunday to start to roll back in and that to ocean beach kind of really, really shows that this is the view from mount tam getting that combination of the marine layer. You can see kind of reaching into the bay right there. And then also just generally cloudy conditions as we do have kind of tropical moisture that is rolling our way and causing some of those clouds. And also you might feel the humidity starting to go up to. I know i felt that a little bit this morning. So currently were sitting at about 66 in downtown San Francisco. Were warming up in the inner east bay. Thats were expecting some heat today. You can see that in antioch at 87. It looks some kind of casino winning number here, santa rosa, napa and nevada sitting at 77 degrees. And you can see the same story there in hayward and mountain views. The 77 seems to be the number at this but there is some heat across the state and were going to see it as were starting to see reading get him to 99 degrees. My nieces up in chico and she was saying 105 today as what theyre expecting. So were definitely going to have some heat out there. And thats why we do have some of these heat alerts that have gone up basically through thursday. Now in orange. That is the heat advisory. You can see all throughout the center of the state. That means theyre expected to 95 degrees or warmer. And then 100 degrees or warmer 105 degrees or warmer. When you look into a kind of excessive heat areas. So thats where the heat is going to be inland. Now, its not exactly in the bay area, but we are going to feel that if you are in or east bay today, its all about the unsettled tropical air mass. That leaves us that it is chance of a little bit of precipitation. But i think more than likely its just going to be clouds and a little humidity. And that heat is i mentioned is going to stay kind of kick in all through this week until that thursday. Well start to see it break down. Notice its bringing a little bit of lightning with it to. You can see that popping up in the sierra there over on this side of your screen right there. A lot of this not really hitting the ground, but as i mentioned, the humidity is probably something you are feeling you can see right now, for instance, in oakland, its at 76 humidity. So just to show you really quickly, we do get some clearing those high clouds kind of rolling through a little bit of drizzle at the coast as we go into the overnight. But its really more about the heat for us as we go through the next few days. Cooling as we head towards the weekend. Back to you. But during the height of the raging wildfire that bore down on maui, many residents say that they never heard that critical information ways. Attorney general has called for an investigation into the breakdown in communications. Doctor live a day says another troubling factor now landscape and how Climate Change has played a role in the devastation. I know was initially a wetlands. It had water a big fish ponds. It had it wasnt known as a dry area of the as development has happened and more helping more a condo buildings, Development Just all around the island. But in this area, specifically, weve seen a lot of that wetland, all of that wetland disappear. The sugar cane industry which originally to the palm of acreage around maui native grasslands growing all over island. So these factors all impact the ability of the Massive Wildfire to move very, very quickly under the right circumstances with really high winds. I think that thats a big part of it. This is a national crisis. This is a national problem. But if history is any indication, bipartisan support is not a given, even when so many are suffering. In 2013, republicans delayed emergency relief money for 3 months over longterm spending arguments after Superstorm Sandy devastated parts of the northeast. Going to need to provide a lot of support. And thats why. Im asking for an an and i expect to receive bipartisan support for additional funds that will enable us to recover. Very, very strong winds is what pushed all of those flames to just spread to quickly. What are they dealing with now . Yes, so now were looking at kind of the recovery, right . And you can see that they do have some wind out there right now. These current wind gusts. Can see 23 miles per hour. That is kind of a common thing and why to get these winds. Its not anything extreme today, but certainly they have a chance of isolated showers and also that wind as we go through today and tomorrow and you can see wednesday as well. Temperatures, theyre staying in checks about 86 87 degrees. So that should help them with some of the recovery that is out there. You mentioned tropical systems that i have to tell you very active in the pacific right now. You can see where we have a Tropical Storm. This is Tropical Storm greg. And just to give you a point of reference here, theres hawaii right there. And then we have hurricane fernanda. Now the good news is as a track both of these forward, i can show you her king fernanda right now is a category 4 major hurricane now thankfully set to dissipate. As you can see, as it makes its way towards hawaii. Tropical storm greg is obviously much weaker and it is staying to the south. But its just to say that this time of year, you know, we keep an eye on those things because the setup before was High Pressure to the north and a very powerful hurricane to the south. And you can see that track that they tend to does kind of set that up. So we take a look here at our our tropical tracker. You can kind of see where weve got greg over here. Weve got hernando over here. And then we also have another system. Its got about a 60 chance of developing that kind of down in that bottom right corner of your screen. You cant really make out quite yet. So keeping an eye on that. Thats for sure. Meanwhile, were also getting a little bit of that tropical moisture thats been drawn in and that counter clockwise circulation. And you can see it on the map. Its why we had kind of wild weather last night. We had a little bit of lightning and even a few kind of quick little showers that left a trace of rain in some spots right now. You can see the lightning is firing up just right along lake tahoe here in the sierra. And they are likely to see some activity as we go over the next few days right now about 76 degrees in south lake tahoe. 83 in reno said got kind of the heat going on, right . And then theyve got the unsettled air mass. Thats there because of the tropical a system. So they do have that slight chance of thunderstorms today and right. You know, next couple of days for sure. So were going to be in around that area. Just make sure youre aware of. That comes that can get dangerous. Very quickly. Meanwhile, back in the bay, we also have some of that tropical moisture in the form of clouds that are out there. Ill be back in a little bit. A new survey from credit karma fines. 56 1 of borrowers say theyre going to have to choose between making their loan payment or covering the basics like rent and groceries. This is in line with findings from a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau report back in june, which found at least 20 of all borrowers had risk factors that suggested they could struggle covering their bills when those student loan payments finally resume. All right. Lets get you a final check of your 4 zone forecast this hour. Taking a live look at sfo. We seem to be a little bit of cloud and fog. This afternoon. Kylo whats going on across the country . Yes, yeah. Well, you know, we still have quite a bit of heat across the country, as you can see, pretty active here in the southeast. Reseal those oranges and kind of hot pink watches and warnings popping up and then you can see along the west coast all the way up to Washington State all the way down to the very southern reaches of california where weve got some of that heat up. Now. Were lucky we dont have this directly in the bay area, but certainly you can see a good portion of Northern California and then also the central part of the state is definitely under those heat advisories and excessive heat warnings. Now, we also have just a little bit of a sprinkle kind of rolling across here and it is probably just a sprinkle for most some of this not even really hitting the ground, but that is from tropical moisture that has rolled in. Meanwhile, were warming 79 degrees in san jose, but already at 91 in dublin, the inner east bay set to be very hot today, 90 in fairfield. 66 in downtown San Francisco, santa rosa sitting at a pretty mild 77 degrees. But these are the highs today. So inner east bay has the potential for hitting that triple digit mark. We will be cooler in the north bay. You can see some low 90s there and down in the south bay as well. Probably some upper 80s for spots like san jose. And then 70s around the bay with some 60s out to at the coast. So thats kind of the picture, temperaturewise, that that heat is going to confined to the inner east bay as far as the triple digit heat concerned. But here is future cast taking you tonight. We get some nice clearing, but then notice as we go over the next few days, we get to tuesday afternoon. You start to see that tropical moisture firing up again in the sierra and it happens again on wednesday. So were kind of in that pattern and you see that counter clockwise, low pressure system as it tracks a little bit up the coast. Now its not going to leave a lot of rain in its wake. But if i take you all the way till next weekend, you can see is looking out for about, you know, 10th of an inch here and in sacramento. So this time of year, we dont have a whole lot of rainfall. So were keeping an eye on more for lightning possibilities. Thats where i have the bigger concern. Frankly, when we get into this kind of weather, but the heat will be with us through thursday longer break it down as we head towards the weekend and get to a pretty nice seasonal weekend. Back to kayla. Thank you. The nations longestrunning asian pageant return for its 38th year in San Francisco on saturday, more than 20 delegates from around the world.
