Well, overcrowding at animal shelters across the state has reached critical levels, including contra costa county, a kron fours Philippe Djegal reports that the shelter director there. So the problem has become so bad that healthy pets might have to be euthanized to reduce the population. Since june pet adoptions at contra costa, Animal Services in martinez have been free and that will remain the case through this month. Animal services has posted videos and photos of pets available for adoption or foster care on its website and social media pages hoping the Community Comes to the rescue. Free adoptions are becoming more. The norm. Rather than exception, still the number of pets being adopted returned to owners or transferred to Animal Rescue agencies is not keeping up with the volume of animals coming in. We have 114 dog kennels. And currently we have about 180 dogs there. And so you can see just by numbers where whale burr. Our limit Animal Services director beth ward says since wednesday, 44 cats have been brought with only 24 going out soon. She says the shelter may have to euthanize healthy and treatable animals. So again, those upper 80s and 90s as we go on for the new day, what well continue to watch is really those thunderstorms from the east of us. We have that monsoon moisture bringing in those thunderstorms and really what thats doing is bringing thunderstorms tahoe area. It is a beautiful night for a pageant were here at the miss asian global competition is the 38 year for the pageant. And you can see the ladies getting ready behind me here. Theyre getting their makeup done. Theyre getting their hair done it all. The makeup artists are working hard to make sure that the girls look at their very best because theyre going to be performing in front of 8 audience over hundreds of people and going to be doing the talent portion. Theyre going to be answering tough surprise questions from the judges. Theres also going to be a fitness portion as well as well as an interview portion to the competition.
