A spot know the state of the richmond business as the Contra Costa CountyHealth Department investigates 2 deaths caused by legionnaires disease. One person died thursday night and the other friday morning. This facility. It was operating without a Health Permit from the county environmental Health Department and all pools and spas are required to have environmental Health Permits, samples of the spas. Water are being tested in a lab while Contra Costa County supervisor john gioia is calling on the countys Health Department to investigate and identify other unpermitted spas. Basically these unpermitted facilities. Need to be shut down until they receive a permit which says that they are operating in a healthy and safe manner. But this are encouraging. Anyone who may have visited is and a spa to watch for legionnaires disease symptoms. Those include shortness of breath, muscle aches and fever, according to supervisor, joya, theres only been one time that the cdc reported a case that was spread from person to person. Theres really not a Major Health Concern that someone who was exposed to the bacteria at this spot would go out and spread it in the community to somebody elses. And a spa is cooperating with the Health Departments investigation. But the supervisor says a civil lawsuit could result if the businesses found liable for the 2 deaths. Say 21 people have potentially been exposed in a hazmat situation. This happening on island drive in the Redwood Shores neighborhood. Firefighters say at least 5 people were affected and theyre receiving treatment right now, authorities are inspecting the building right now. They say that the chemical that was leaked is called free on and was accidentally released from a faulty a c unit freon is typically used as a refrigerant. Were learning more about the 2 people found stabbed to death inside a san jose home. One them. As a child, police say the stabbings happened friday morning at an apartment complex on park. More avenue just off to a t officers. Were there doing a welfare check when they found an elderly woman and a young boy with stab wounds. The woman is the boys great grandmother today. Well, here in san jose, thousands of city workers have overwhelmingly voted to go on strike. San jose city workers into unions have voted to authorize a 3 day strike starting tuesday, august 15th running through the 17th 4500 workers from across the city, including employees at the airport and city facilities, such as libraries are now set to walk off the job next week. The union say that the main sticking points are disagreements over wages and benefits. The unions also say they want the city to address staffing shortages. Striking is a last resort. Our hope is that City Council Members and mayor mahan. Well, finally this into us just under staffing crises impacting libraries. The airport Affordable HousingEmergency Response times and monday morning state Assembly Member ash kalra who represents san jose was critical of mayor matt mahan is handling of the situation called on him to do more to support workers. Officials say when they arrived, one victim was on shore in cardiac arrest. All 4 people were taken to a local hospital where that cardiac victim later died. The victims names have not been released. The mother of oakland native and euphoria star angus cloud says his death was not a homicide. Lisa cloud posted the update on facebook. She says despite this shattered time for their family and this is last day was a joyful one. And she says he did not intend to end his life. Cloud said her son spoke of his intent to help provide for his sisters at college.
