Youre watching kron. 4 news at tonight at 5 Francisco Police releasing footage of a shooting in the bayview Hunters Point neighborhood that killed a man they say was interfering with an arrest. Thanks so much for watching. Kron. 4 news at 5. Im vicki liviakis. 41 yearold ryan bluford was shot and killed when 2 officers opened fire last wednesday. The sfpd showed video of the moments leading up to the shooting and town hall meeting today. Harpers Ella Sogomonian live for us from the newsroom with the latest. L a are making the rounds and the hunters, they view neighborhood when they spotted somebody who had a warrant out for his arrest. So they ended up handcuffing him and they say thats when bluford walked up to them over kelly fairfax streets and step to the officers cursing at them, demanding that they let that suspect go while clutching a firearm in his waistband. 2 more officers marked car were called up for backup and theyll dozens of times in this video from blue for to put his hands up. Heres video of what happens next when he instead raises the gun at them. And you can see in this angle of the body camera video, the bluford raises a hand gun and points of the responding officers in another angle from minutes before he clutches at the gun at his waistband when threatening the initial responding officers to let go of the suspect that they arrested after blue for the shutdown. Officers approached him to give him cpr. Then notice a 45 caliber light colored handgun at his side. That s apd says was loaded with one round along with a magazine that had another 10 rounds in it. Life, a tragedy and made sure to note that todays presentation wasnt the last word on the outcome of this ordeal because investigations are underway to make sure that the 2 officers who shot their guns at bluford acted according to local and state law. Nan lin says he was driving home from San Francisco to sacramento when he stopped at the royal gas station in vallejo just off i80. Thats when he and his friend ran into trouble. This is the royal gas station that nan lin pick for his rest stop wednesday morning around 02 00am buying a bottle of water for his friend sonny and on a wellknown ufc fighter from sacramento on way back to his car. He was confronted by a group of men turn around. As soon as that turn around, those a pistol pointed at my face. Lynn says the man in a ski mask grabbed his gold necklaces and hit him on the side of the neck with a pistol. And so i like all my change. You know, let me take it. And the guy demanded. I take off my we want every day. My pockets. And, you know, i just gave everything to him. You know, to buy gold, took my car keys. He says the group of men went through his suv, taking everything they could and then robbed his friend in the back seat. The group left without stealing the car, but lennon. Yet, don had no phones to call 911. So they turn to the gas station attendant for help. And im like, hey, did you Call Emergency Services . You call 911. Those. It was chickens. Have them a call. 911. It does know says after repeated attempts to get the attended to call 911, his frustrations get the best of him. Put all the golf club in my car. My intent was a scary and. And actually hit the but a shattered my phone calls and voicemails of the royal gas station for comment have gone unanswered. Lynn says he eventually gave up on helping the stations attendant and show the rest of the way to sacramento filing multiple Police Reports since then and hopes the men who robbed him are found. New at 5 san jose. Police say the discovery of 2 bodies inside a home is now being investigated as a homicide. Officers say that they were responding to a welfare check at the vista apartment complex. About 10 oclock this morning when they found 2 people dead. This is on park more avenue just off to a t officers have spent all day investigating the scene and the Police Activity is affecting the lee avenue exit onto 80 northbound. No word yet on what led police to believe that this was a homicide. A spokesperson tells us that they will not be releasing any more details until monday. Evacuation orders have been lifted for all. But 5 san pablo homes after Hazardous Materials were found inside. One of those residences about 120 homes were forced to evacuate wednesday afternoon. Investigators say the incident began after a man cleaning the home of a Family Member who recently died smelled a strange odor and discovered a shed full of chemicals originally, evacuations were only expected to last up to 24 hours, but Officials Say that the process ended up taking more time than expected. The contra costa Fire Protection district says that they expected to to have all the chemicals removed by the end of the night. In a tweet, the san pablo Police Department says its also coordinating resources for those 5 residents, his which will remain impacted through this evening. Todays the last day for San Jose City workers to cast their vote, deciding whether theyre going to go out on strike. Roughly 4500 City Employees have been voting over the past 3 days to decide whether authorize a threeday strike. They want better pay and benefits and are proposing pay hikes 7, 6, in 5 over the next 3 years. While the city wants to increase pay by 5, 4, 3 . Earlier today we spoke with san joses mayor matt mahan, who says the citys offer is more than generous for us to give more than a 5 raise will have to identify painful cuts. We have to reduce staffing and police and fire cut Library Hours or pay few roads. And these essential services that our residents also rely on. So we have to have a deal thats fair for everyone. We have a great workforce here. They deserve a raise. Thats what were offering them. But first, were learning more about a serial kidnapper with bay area ties. What were finding out about his criminal turns out that portland man arrested by the fbi for kidnapping, sexually assaulting and locking up a seattle woman in a makeshift cell has a series of crimes here in the bay area. The guys use of areas, the oregon man, federal prosecutors have charged with kidnapping, chaining and sexually assaulting a seattle woman. Prosecutors say the victim ultimately escaped from a cinder block jail cell and sue berries, garage and contacted authorities leading to his arrest. Now it turns out the suspect also known as justin hice has a violent criminal past in the bay area. Court documents indicate in june of 2020 heist was charged f minor in oakland with a special allegation that he also kidnapped the victim. A Police Report indicates in addition to having he also punched the victim before dragging her out of his car. He eventually pleaded no contest to a lesser charge assault with a deadly weapon. And the other charges were dismissed. Hi, ended up serving just 56 days in jail and was put on probation prior to that in 2016. Hi, she was 22 at the time was charged with 2 crimes for allegedly having with a 16 yearold Newark Junior High School student. He ended up pleading no contest to unlawful intercourse and served 60 days in the Alameda County jail. And in 2013 he was charged with shooting at an inhabited dwelling in oakland. But the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence. Authorities believe heist was in the bay area from 2012 to 2021 and they believe there may be other victims. Theyre asking anybody who might be a victim to come forward. Dan kerman kron, 4 news. Fire at a historic bakery in San Franciscos north beach neighborhood caused a bit of a scare today. There was a lot of smoke coming from military, a bakery on stockton street that fire broke out about 11 oclock this morning. The owner tells us that it started in a brick oven. Thats more than 100 years old. Weve been in the process having a new oven, putin to got nothing to do with that. Whats happened is some of the falling down. And i guess when heat the oven by flame, which theres no direct heat in there, i guess the flame caused the fire. Fire crews responded quickly. They were able to contain the fire to the kitchen. Nobody was hurt. The owner says that he hopes to reopen sometime next week. Meantime, crews continue to make progress containing the clayton fire thats burned. 66 acres in east san jose. This video of the scene there. The brush fire started just before 2. 30, yesterday afternoon off clayton road near san joses east. Earn foothills in the unincorporated area of santa clara county, a total of 70 firefighters from both san jose fire and cal fire responded to the blaze. The teams used aircraft to drop retardant and water on the burning brush. Cal fire says they still dont know what started it, adding that the cleanup for this fire may take some time.
