Officials say that they got reports of the smell of gas yesterday. So they showed up, did some investigating and they found a shed in the backyard of a home on this street and they found hundreds of boxes that were filled with chemicals that they states something youd find in a lab as of right now, the homeowner has not been located, but there was a brother of the homeowner that was home and he is cooperating with officials. However, hes unable to say where the homeowner is now. The bomb squad was called yesterday afternoon and theyve been investigating those hundreds of boxes since the team also ordered a shelterinplace at first. But that turned quickly into an Evacuation Order to all homes within a 6 block radius. There is a Red Cross Team thats standing by and theyre allowing residents to stay over at the contra costa city college, which is off of mission bell, drive as to when theyre going to able to come home. Authorities now investigating another freeway shooting in the east bay. This time it happened tuesday night along 80 in fremont right near highway 84. No one was hurt, thankfully, but still no word on the suspect who fired the shot. Theres been at least 26 freeway shootings so far this year. In the north bay, a man who had been shot to death was found in a local creek tuesday night was in vallejo. Police say he was found at austin creek right near sacramento street and bella vista avenue. No word on a suspect yet. Police say was the citys 13th homicide this year. Its 706, in the east bay. Expect to see a bigger chp presence in oakland because the governor is sending in chp officers to help deal with the violence. Crime spike kron 4 Sarah Stinson has the details. 6 chp officers and one sergeant will be deployed to help Oakland Police amid concerns of a spike in violent crimes.
