Comcast business, powering possibilities. A 28 were following breaking news this morning. Theres a massive fire that broke out in hayes valley and temperatures dozens of people had to be evacuated. Lets get straight over kron fours Michael Thomas who has been keeping us updated on this fire. Michael, good morning. Hi, good morning. Everyone is standing behind the camera, but i want to just show you you can see things are starting to settle down. You know, just the aftermath of this fire, it was at least a 4, 5 story building. And officials tell me that it grew to be a fouralarm fire very quickly. It started just before 6 oclock this morning in the chief tells me that when she actually got out of the car, she could feel the heat. And i want to turn the camera around just for a second to show you guys. When i mentioned earlier, windows had broken out next or im going zoom in and hopefully you can see this window here. They suspect was shattered from that fire and the heat. I dont know daryn. James, eye during rain. If you guys can confirm that you can see a good glenside that but that window was completely shattered out. And then down below all of these other windows are cracked as well from that heat from the fire. Thankfully, nobody was injured. So far of 5 families displaced. They expect that number to grow as the morning continues. And its still a very active scene. Were right here oak street and octavia boulevard. Im going zoom out to you guys can see just i mean, theres still got to be at least a dozen fire trucks here. Were looking at more than 3 dozen fire officials on the scene. Take a listen to what the fire chief told us this morning. Okay. I guess we dont have that prepared for you. But ultimately what she saying Something Like this, this building thats under construction. She theres proper walls. Theres no fire alarms or anything like that. So if one thing catches fire at all, wouldnt it just goes up in flames . And she says this is a prime example. Something like that happening. Its still under investigation. Theyre pulling a, you know, cameras from the streets and are excuse me not to the ring cameras from neighbors to find out just exactly what happened. But she says that as of now theyre still investigating everything for the most part. But thats a very latest here in san rain ariel, send it back to you so much sense now that you say that was. Because i thought i guys in the control room, if we have that video that michaels been showing, were really shows the flames just shooting like crazy. Michael, what youre saying makes more sense now because i thought, wow. How could at 06 00am this thing look like this which is incredible flames. Yeah. How could it get so good . Dont let you know, blasting these flames in such a small amount of time. But youre saying there was no, there are no detectors, obviously. And there are no walls and just like a tinderbox know shes shes. Yeah, she says actually in the center, she said all there is is just, you know, construction tools and pieces of wood. So she says it grew massively to become a fouralarm fire very quickly because everything kind of just went up in flames within a matter of, you know, minutes or so because essentially its really just wood that was there. Okay. And then now we can see 2 with the flames like that in proximity to those other buildings held, the glass could have broken out just from extreme heat. All right. Thanks so much, michael. Great work out there. Go ahead. Go ahead for thank you. Oh, no, i was going actually have a neighbor that lives across the street. If i can ask you very quickly, and, you know, did you hear anything or see anything . All about. I think it was in the morning. I woke and they will immediately its building down its its not thinking, not thinking not. I just. Heard the noise. Yeah, i just heard the noise. Is commotion going thank you. All right, reena and ari, i will send it back to you guys. But there you have you know, neighbors saying that thats what they woke up low. That fire. Be scary. Thank you, michael. Grateful. Nobody was hurt. And were also happy that the wind just a contributing factor in all of that this morning. Yeah, it is going to be cool, though and breezy, i guess for a little while. John, what are we looking at today . Thankfully, so calm out there that blanket of clouds keeping us cool this morning as well. Just very much though, situation this morning that at least made the fire fight a little bit more favorable. Your view outside from mount tam looking down at that sea of low clouds that is still shrouding, not just the bayshore in the coast but has made for some partly cloudy skies. A little further inland, too. Thats really helping to keep temperatures on the cool side. We havent seen Temperature Movement much yet this morning. Pittsburgh in livermore still in the low 60s alameda, oakland and berkeley still hanging out in the upper 50s. Now as we move through the day today, we do eventually see temps climbing to the low 80s, mostly at our warmest for for this to inland areas. Thats a big change of pace from the 90s where we had been. Were going to stay cool for a couple of days.
