Back to the news this morning were learning of a possible contender to run against Governor Newsome in a couple of years in 2022. In san diego mayor Kevin Faulconer hes thinking about running after a series of steps by the governor that are now under scrutiny that includes the state wide curfew and also attending that large dinner in napa that state leaders would typically advise against faulkner is a moderate republican he believes his accomplishments would make him a worthy candidate. For one of the safest big cities. In the country. We really brought people together on issues of homelessness and housing, particularly infrastructure. So that there is a way to do that and its not democrat republican or independent. Its whats the right thing how do you get results and how do you actually make a difference. Well faulkners in his last few weeks as mayor before he turns out he says hes planning to make a decision on whether he will officially run after that. The u. S. Is nearing nearly 12 million covid cases as we get closer to welcome in the new president. This is a live tracker that from Johns Hopkins university and joe khaleel looks ahead to what Inauguration Day could look like amid the pandemic. In just a few short weeks americans are going to engage in a ritual that we do every 4 years we will inaugurate another president down capitol mall just that way not far from where were standing and were used to the images, hundreds of thousands of people gathering well this year really Global Pandemic were not exactly sure what that event is going to look like now, but what we are Certain Office its going to be a lot different from years past. Its perhaps the most visible symbol of american democracy so help god. Congratulations. The president ial inauguration. The peaceful transition of power but this year those who wish to witness history up close may be disappointed the entire planning process is going to have to be different, you know theyre going to have to do that we have identified every di meola g professor amanda cast doubts as organizers must find a way to draw down the usual crowds historically in the hundreds of thousands or risk another covid super spreader event this is something that happens in washington dc. But we can this point during the pandemic we need to make sure that we work in coordination with the local Health Departments castile says that means extra medical teams and stand up covid testing sites i can imagine that show could. Place. Either shares or polls or some kind of designation where people are allowed to stand and everyone is 6 feet apart democrat senator Kirsten Gillibrand says the Incoming Biden Administration should even consider a virtual inauguration where guests or speakers would take part remotely and unprecedented idea he really has to take covid seriously and in january were just going to be far deep into the resurgence thats already started though not everyone on capitol hill likes the idea of a virtual inauguration nation plan of an inauguration for whoever. Its in our great on Inauguration Day republican senator ron johnson does agree that a large inauguration crowd isnt ideal. But he says that problem well fix itself. Lets face with covid is probably going to be certainly reduce size of crowds so should be as you plan for graduations mister and while operation is a federal event as the Vice President elect forms and inauguration committee. We wall we will talk to them as well washington dc mayor Muriel Bowser and her Public Health team will be left to deal with any fallout should the ceremony become a covid risk. Another thing that were watching is on the actual stage president elect joe biden Vice President elect Kamala Harris will be there and if they are exposed to covid that could literally be a National Security threat on day one so it will be interesting to see how that is handled and by the way the inauguration is scheduled. 4 january 20th in washington joe khaleel. Kron 4 morning news, good morning everybody and your saturday looks to be pretty good some scattered clouds into the afternoon but on balance well start things off mostly sunny. And those temperatures pretty mild that is for the season, beautiful shot of the Golden Gate Bridge you can see behind me there well keep that going throughout the day today and till we get some scattered clouds Half Moon Bay checking into at this hour with a decent amount of sunshine as well. So upstream, we have some scattered clouds will develop theyre going to come in from the south on balance there monterey bay and then moving up to the south bay and spreading out to the east bay too readings for now were in the lower 30s up to the north bay, its 40s elsewhere, a little chilly out there livermore in concord as you notice what learn more about the 41 right about that 40 its Live Television for you in mid 40s, you can see well inland the breakdown for you put some 50s and 60s on the board here by mid afternoon again noting the scattered clouds going on by mid afternoon. But a lot of areas may still remain mostly sunny other little quick a denim is for sunday night little potentional way potential up north of a little sprinkle maybe going on well after sunset marquis okay, thanks lynn take a look at this site in the now opened one of its first locations. In colorado, this is the denver suburb of aurora customers hope waiting in line for 14 hours for an in and out burger officers were posted in the area helping direct traffic one man says that he stood in line since 10 in the morning the day before that Fast Food Restaurant was set to open and he was the first in line. I got a free they paid for my meal and i received a coin. That this coin from them. The silver coin. Preferred customers differ one free burger, if i ever want to redeem it. Well there you go. A fight also broke out at that drivethru location. Were told that it happened when someone may have tried to cut in line. Well still ahead the next hour, the kron 4 morning news. Were just hours away from a curfew order for counties and the purple tier in the bay area were going to break down what will have to close beginning tonight. And were monitoring covid19 case some additional bay area counties may also soon after plant, a curfew well with triple cheese and bacon or chili cheese. Try my sauced and loaded fries. Try my sauced and loaded fries. Its pretty delicious. News station. Youre watching the kron 00 00am morning news. Good morning, everybody and thank you so much for starting your day with us here morning news on Marty Gonzalez. Its saturday november 21st were going to be counting down the hours to the statewide covid19 curfew that goes into effect tonight. Were going to take a look at what parts of the bay area will and wont be impacted and a whole lot more on that but first we want to go ahead and check out the Weather Forecast with dave spahr day we had a really chilly start to the morning lot a shivering going to some spots of the bay area. Yeah, we have some a cool air will deal with in the Morning Hours here good morning. Marty good morning, everybody and into the 30s at least in some locations up in the north bay to kick things off but at least mostly clear that allow temperatures to fall very nicely. A live shot of whats going on here is the Golden Gate Bridge you can see clear for that but around the Half Moon Bay starting to see some of that high cloudiness and expect more that the spread out as the day starts to progress a little bit there it is in the lower lefthand side of your screen there. Some afternoon clouds that will be part of the forecast do want to mention on sunday night theres a weak system the drop south. Potentially a sprinkle to dirty up some cars up in the north bay, maybe question mark theyre the 30s and his reference their action improvement from last hour, 33 per santa rosa looks like about a 39 coming at 36 from and 52 meanwhile for open sea of a contrast going on here much colder this morning. Then it was yesterday at this time, a look ahead to other the afternoon clouds streaming on in well have some lower 60s it looks like by 3 oclock little cooler for tomorrow, although were back in the variable cloudy to mostly sunny modal take a look at the rest your weekend forecast. Good morning. All right dave thanks last seen a couple minutes, lets get right back to top story this morning. Were just hours away from the state wide curfew that goes into effect tonight, it begins at 10 oclock. And almost all non essential businesses will have to close their doors. Now so far the counties that you see here in the purple tier will be under the curfew San Francisco marin and san mateo counties are in the red tier. They dont have to curfew just yet. Contra costa county in the east bay will be under the curfew tonight and thats where we find kron fours reyna harvey she has the latest on that ran a good morning. The morning marty everybody out here is getting ready for that curfew a lot of people out shopping trying to get things done so tonight at 10 oclock is when it starts and will be under that curfew for a month. So heres what you need to know if you are an essential worker youre able to continue working now essential business you are able to stay open its 4 groups of people who are gathering may be to have a party that this order is targeting you can go to the Grocery Store if you like you can go out for a walk he walk your dog, you have to go to the hospital for any reason you need to pick up medicine you can do all of these things even if you want to pick up take out you can do that, but theyre just trying to take her down on the groups of people who are gathering overnight after hours. They say not following social distancing guidelines are not wearing mask and this is where theyre seeing an uptick in especially for the holidays when some families are going to be getting together theyre trying to put these things into place so like i mention residents out here are aware of what is going on i spoke to a few. Heres what they had to say about the order that starts. It was so were we believe that we need to do it we all Work Together were in this together ive never seen this before in my lifetime. Im 79 years old and so. We need to do get together and do it so im going to be a home. Certainly a 9 oclock 8 oclock. Thank so the countys effects right now alameda at napa contra costa and Solano Sonoma seen a clear there are some counties that are in the red to year however were looking to see if theyre going make their way into the purple tier i mention San Francisco for example could be in the purple tier as early as next week as soon as those numbers start to catch up with the Health Department so now. The biggest question is enforcement right if we look at the first stay at home order that we had a few months ago. They first warned people and they started to find people so thats what were looking at this time around again supposed to last 4 months of december 21st. However, if cases continue to rise could be at a lot longer for now reporting here in wannacry Craig Harvey Kron 4 news all right dana, thanks a lot for that live report from Contra Costa County. Also in the east bay, the Alameda CountySheriffs Office working to educate people about the new curfew rules. The sheriff there says that he trusts that residents will do whats right but he also warns his department will act if needed. Well obviously businesses that mainly operated night will be feeling the curfews greatest impact kron fours rob fladeboe reports from san jose that some bar owners say that theyre unfairly singled out. Jails and dreams was his motto before the pandemic but doing business now is more like a nightmare for the the popular bar and restaurant here in san joses Almaden Valley serving customers outdoors in keeping with health orders. Those cocktails are served until 02 00am but on saturday that comes to an end when a newly imposed curfew will shut down business at 10 00pm. The curfew is well intentioned, but unfair and misguided says owner tony griffis exactly and thats all this happening the parties not because the bars to close its just move into private residences. Where theyre having 5000 people are even smaller 20 people were there is no mask regulations and a lot of people dont believe in the mass. And youre getting super spreader is there. The curfew arrives just as many bars and restaurants for offering limited Indoor Dining other bars dreading the curfew or po st. 55 south. One of the al fresco destinations in downtown san jose, 55 cells and ps 2 here on north on that then both offer extensive outdoor seating and Late Night Service and the curfew was going to hurt says co owner erik nielsen. Basically what it means that were going to lose an additional 15 to 20 of our revenue. Every week when were already i mean for the year and like 88 close to 90 and you know were just starting to claw back some of it and then our word and it right back in the wrong direction again not all the businesses impacted by the curfew are open late but most are operating on a tight margin these days many did not receive pandemic relief. The brand of loans invested 15,000 in an outdoor tent furniture another pandemic related supplies. People could see their hours cut back again, tony griffis believes the curfew is counterproductive if the real culprit here is private gatherings that maybe instead of targeting bars. We target costco safeways and Liquor Stores. And see if we can cut alcohol sales, there so if people do want to get a drink. They have to come to a controlled environment that is safe for them to actually imbibe. Closing the bar 10 oclock means last call could come as early as 9. 15 as for enforcing the curfew for their part San Jose Police say theyll be taking an approach similar to what they did. Back during the original shelterinplace order in march in other words they will emphasize education as opposed to immediately citing people for violating the curfew in san jose rob fladeboe kron 4 news. And still ahead on the kron 4 morning news we continue our curfew coverage as we count down to the curfew well take a look at how San Francisco is preparing just in case. Lets turn our attention now to the weather days for hi marty were off to a pretty good start little chilly though up in the north bay we saw some numbers a little bit below freezing as we look ahead to the rest of the day or for your day. Some scattered clouds into the afternoon temperatures holding in the mid to upper 60s, closer inspection youre forecast. We come we have the power to harness californias Abundant Solar and wind energy, but its not available all day long. Use less energy from 4 to 9 pm for a cleaner california. Good morning, everybody welcome back to the kron 00 00am morning news, a lot of folks waking up to some chilly temperatures around the bay area were going to check in with kron fours meteorologist dave spahr to find if its going to warm up today, im dave good morning cut almost glove whether it is in the north bay weve been talking about temperatures that are subfreezing theyre graduating above that now, cool start with those clear skies at work here and as we get into the afternoon will be some scattered clouds in here but temperatures will be on the mild side, it looks like it live shot from timber on as you can see just some high cloudiness that going to filter in some more cloud cover later on during the golden gate up close and personal. No fog issues you can see lots of blue skies too but im drawing your attention down here to the lower lefthand side of your screen. There you see some scattered clouds thats our future this afternoon just passing by will clear out in time for tomorrow looks like as well to point something out here little this weekend forecast. Again we got the scattered clouds going on this afternoon. Thats by this evening sun sets were off to a decent start for sunday looks pretty good. Thats interesting. Now some models want to paint a little sprinkle up north there potentially sunday, this will be after sunset shortly afterward say about 6 7 oclock. As you saw that front drops south. Well get with it some resurgence of some cooler air with it is what most folks will notice and mardy was reference in the chilly temperatures still quite cold up here in the north bay with the 30s, the layoff 4138 conquered too, 54 antioch 46 going on for hayward. So what we got going on here for today we start off sunny, but theyll be some afternoon scattered clouds mild with upper 60s for most of the bay in fact mid to upper 60 them tomorrow. Much the same a touch cooler because that system passes weve got lower 60s and upper 50s involved and then for the week ahead. Were kind of eyeballing another system midweek here it looks like cool temps will be mostly sunny for most of it. But theres another opportunity up in the north bay to pick up a sprinkle by the way 60s for much of the week it looks like alright for today, weve got 65 San Francisco target high 68 san jose 67 coming in for oakland noting again those afternoon rolling on in highs today, 69 at the santa rosa, the have your mid to upper 60s off to Contra Costa County. Peninsulas also looking at the middle 60s course well take a closer inspection of the 4 zone forecast later, but just a sneak peek of longerrange forecast tomorrow again noting the scattered clouds left over 64. And also on a monday at about 64 as we stay in 60s territory, right into the holiday party. Ok dave thanks a lot. Lets get to the news this morning and another big story that were following for you see ongoing sprint to get a covid19 vaccine approved by the fda and available for use. And as they rush to get that vaccine out theyve also shift to some of the focus in one of their studies from adults to teenagers kron fours Haaziq Madyun talk to a san jose teenager whos taking part in the vaccine research. Im not the best with needles. But i dont know it was just like any other shot like the flu shot which few months ago Kaiser Permanente is expanding its research into a clinical vaccine to prevent the virus that causes covid19 now testing out unless its like 17 yearold Allyson Eisenman the voluntary study is being conducted with kaiser members in sacramento and santa clara that scene is developed by pfizer and biontech. It is the same that seen recently reported to be more than 90 effective in adults, so its just like with for the study and it is placebo controlled trial and that half the participants get a placebo eyes jessica sang and half will be getting the vaccine. The 2 doses are 21 days of our researchers say the goal of the study is to enroll 2000 adolescents Allison Eisenman describes what its like to be one of them. I do check in once we actually to do once a day where i they asked me to my symptoms and. So i just love that its just not my 38 states like 30 seconds i take my temperature to make sure fever every me alice is dead just lies and mint is participating in the adult study he says there was no pressure on his daughter to get involved so for someone no absolutely not. But you know this is our teams and our ability to contribute to. The situation in terms of how long theyre being fall theres a study just like adults and he designed to be followed 2 years the big question is why did this teenager from san jose who could be doing anything else during the Holiday Season volunteer for this study. I do know like the health and safety of those around me is important to me and so thats what influence has made kron 4 news. And santa clara counties expanding its covid19 testing beginning next week the testing site at the Santa Clara County fairgrounds well be able to accommodate 3,000 appointments a day and 5,000 by mid december. The county is currently seen an alarming increase in covid19 cases and hospitalizations Officials Say the number of hospitalizations jumped by more than 50 in one week from november 12th to the 19th. In the east bay berkeley officials confirm more than 200 covid19 cases a golden gate racetrack and all the people who tested positive either live or work on site. Officials say that all of them are now off isolated off site following federal state and city guidelines. The track is also helping out with offside housing for those who have tested positive and is arranging for twice a day food delivery to those people as well. The racetrack is closed until further notice and all racing events have been suspended. The pandemic has forced countless people to and families to wonder where their next meal is coming from and that becomes even tougher now that the holidays are here. Second harvest of Silicon Valley is now giving out free boxes of food to families in need before the pandemic its Second Harvest serve roughly 250,000 families a month. Well that number has now doubled and the pandemic has also changed the ways that they accept donations. Well this year were actually not accepting food donations just due to concerns about safety trying to reduce the traffic get in our lobby and most of our retail due to safety concerns dont want to have bills in the stores right now for every dollar donated we can actually provide to kneel and were very dependent on Financial Support fromu individual thats where the majority of our funding comes from. And if youd like to donate money or volunteer your time you can get the dea of the details on the Second Harvest website and s h f b dot org. Good morning, everybody welcome back time to go ahead and get a check of the Weather Forecast dave says that its a little cooler this morning. But dont worry about it things are going to calm down a good morning morning morning, well warm up to get some of those mid to upper 60s going on a little cooler looks like tomorrow though probably a little bit better sunshine. We have a little traffic going some clouds kind of coming and going start things off real quick with a look at tahoe, we have sunny skies as we get into monday tuesday and for tomorrow we get some of those scattered clouds still left over temperatures to drop though from the 50s back down to the 40s as you will notice live camera sfo, no delays going on this morning. Temperatures though still chilly up there in the north bay santa rosa, 3336 napa got the mid 40s covering much of the east bay shoreline 42 san jose 48, San Francisco. So we have this week system out to sea is going to throw some cloud cover our way throughout the day today, but still mild as we have the mid to upper 60s going on again just a touch cooler looks like for tomorrow. But lets go through this is were talking about it on sunday do want to note that these models are somewhat aggressive painting in some scattered light rain showers. The models were looking at theres a disagreement on that they dont both agree that will get that but just making a dent of to note the north bay you might pick up a little sprinkle perhaps potentially late on sunday that will be after sunset also know little point here worth noting boom was stopped on wednesday morning there another little shot as the system drop south. Most folks will experience maybe some cloud cover, maybe a little breeze and cooler temperatures on the backside of that remaining dry through the Holiday Weekend. Afterwards of looks like and well see what happens in the next week with the success of system here. Temperatures for highs in the central valley, middle 60s down south we got 74 san diego, 68 l a x San Francisco, 65 closer inspection on the home front your 4 zone forecast 65. And at the coast into the lower 60 some 50s to be had there the bay side, however, weve got the mid 60s at hand here 66 burning game and all the south getting some upper 60s as we head down there 67 palo alto 66 Mountain View and the santa clara a brushing your 70s youll see morgan hill 69 san jose 68 cupertino also 68 east bay shoreline to the south again middle 60s. Much the same we see inland the tri valley 66 for a little more 68 going on for walnut creek 68 conquered in berkeley at 63 Solano County lot of 60s and its 6570 sonoma and 69 going on for santa rosa, which is a nice improvement from those subfreezing temperatures this morning, mid 60s down to southern marin long range forecast again. We have a little bit of traffic coming and going again noting sunday night some clouds left over from that system maybe a sprinkle up in the north bay potentially we do the same thing on wednesday, but it looks pretty good. On there as you can see sunny skies for thanksgiving. Watch the lows though chilly in the morning in the middle 30s going on little bounce. There happens on thursday morning at the coast. Were also doing 40s as well back to you. Health this morning, the cdc is advising people not to travel or to have large gatherings during thanksgiving which is usually of course the busiest travel period. Of the year now despite this new advisory there are so many people who are suffering from pandemic fatigue their missing relatives and friends. They say you know what were going to plan to spend the holiday together anyway. So our Health Expert karen owen joins me this morning with a few tips if you plan to gather, but you want to do it as safely as possible care and these are really timely tips because there are so many people that are just so tired of being cooped they want to get together with their loved ones. Yes, they havent seen their loved ones for a long time lots of people have new babies and they wanted to show them to their families so its understandable so there are some things that you can number one is something ive been. At promoting for over a decade now is clear the air in your you know our homes accumulate a lot of environmental if you use chemical disinfectants those need to get out of home so open up your home, you know we dont have those sophisticated. Filtration systems like they do in the hospital and and offices cell. Open up the windows let that the air go through your house let it cross ventilation by doing that with when you have a sophisticated filtration system, the air is changing every 5 minutes while that is that all this. Yes and with the with windows open its going to change maybe once an hour or every 20 minutes, so at least its something. Yeah and you dont care, im looking at the 7 day forecast today has an and its showing the temperatures are going to be fairly mild through the week in the bay area and there wont be any rain so i guess you can open your windows in it wont be that cold. Right actually a good thing to do on a regular basis. My mom used always say open your windows as get some fresh air so. Its just a good thing to do yeah always yeah, great ide great idea. So you want to air out the as much as you can and especially on on thanksgiving, if you have people coming over. Right right and its still keep them can to keep them open during the time the very one thing you recommend as well is to turn on the exam sauce in your kitchen in your bathroom. I would guess you also want to check the filters maybe clean those out as well. Oh yes thats a great idea but yes to keep those any any exhaust fans that you have in their house, you know turn those on during the time that you have company. This really sounds tough to do. But you also recommend reducing your contacts with people. In this its ideally you to do that a couple weeks before thanksgiving 1, 2 weeks we have what about 5 more days like just keep that in mind if you know youre going to see your family and you have elders that youre never going to be there just be respectful of that and try keep those social contacts to a minimum before gathering. Is this a time get a covid19 test. Oh yes, it is a good time if you can get the test you know a couple you know it look as close to thanksgiving as possible, you know, just give yourself enough time to get the results and then try and during that window period of time that youre waiting for the results just keep your contacts to a minimum while the timing is good in that there are so sites now that are that are expanding. Theyre testing capabilities. So this would be a good time over the next couple days maybe to get a test. Absolutely yes absolutely the the age tip of washing your hands and distancing still still that take place during this thanksgiving holiday week as well right. And i weve heard it so many are you and what you can you know when you have company and you havent seen someone for a while some of those habits might fall through the wayside so i its just i suggest keeping Hand Sanitizer in on the counter on the tables on the coffee table just as a reminder to keep your hands clean if youre eating youre prepping food its really important to keep your hands clean. I know a lot of a time of the year yeah, definitely i know a lot of folks when they have guests coming over for dinner. Youre putting out the the good napkins the cloth napkins instead of the paper napkins you have the fancy towels in the in the bed in the bathroom. Is this the time for that. Its not the time for that its time for the paper tells maybe not so fancy but you want to put those in the bathroom and by the scenes so that you are washing your hands and drying them on a paper towel and then disposing of you know this is not when you will the time when you want to be sharing a hand towel. Yeah. What about wearing a at your gathering and trying to fix the mask on and off as youre eating. You this is the one i heard the helmet wearing a mask between bites and thats its something that i i cant support because the fact that first of all when you put on a mask, your hands to be clean when you take them on your hands should be could you know right take it off it should always have clean hands when you touch your mask and the mask its contaminated you take it off between bites what do you do good point on the table do you put it on your lap and then you put it on your lap youre wiping your mouth with a napkin that does happen contaminated. Yeah. I see your so just leave the mask off. I said just leave it off because you are just touching it and youre putting your eating its not a good idea to be eating and touching a mouse, you know one of the thing about the great weather that were going to have this week is that it makes it possible to have an earlier dinner. And to eat outdoors. Yes and when i first heard this i go eat outdoors in the winter when its still cold yeah, but then i started thinking about i it can actually kind of nice you could see outside you could tent the area you could put on string lights candles and some space heaters you can make a kind of nice if thats what you choose to do yeah i talked at the day meteorologist and she said shes going to do kind of a partial open space and shes going to be serving dinner in her garage. Ive heard about the store and now everyone well my garage i could never do things first i bottom the bottom line here as we wrap up is basically use your common sense. Use your common sense evaluate your own risk and benefit and because every family is different so make your choice and whats whats appropriate for your own family. Yeah. And karen happy thanksgiving. Give with all your heart. Kohls. News station. Youre watching the kron 00 00am morning news at 9. Morning everybody thanks so much starting your day with kron 4 morning news on Marty Gonzalez and im noelle bellow it is saturday november 21st and were counting down the hours until the statewide covid19 curfew. Goes into effect tonight. Well take a closer look at the parts of the bay area that are going to be impacted tonight in just a moment, but first were going to check in with the forecast a lot of folks waking up this morning shivery just a little bit far as the forecast was i a good morning guys good morning everybody at least were off to a mostly sunny start to be some afternoon clouds kind of toss about a little bit. Into the afternoon, however, we dont really see anything happening until sunday night maybe a sprinkle up there in the north bay thats a possibility not money in the bank though Golden Gate Bridge shot look at that nice blue skies at hand we did see down to Half Moon Bay, a few high clouds this shot coming in from timber on also a nice shot a little bit the way some high cloudiness and again no to the lower lefthand side of your screen some scattered clouds that will intrude into our area as we get into the afternoon. Those temperatures are recovering, although santa rosa still hang in the 3940s for some of the chilly spots weve graduated in the 50s along the east bay shoreline 50 going on for any aac and we are a little bit behind up there in santa rosa but coming up ahead as you can see across mid bay. Hayward livermore also trailing at this hour. Well do about 61 oclock 4 oclock at 59 again noting some of those scattered clouds will take a closer inspection of your forecast in just a bit back to you. All right dave, thanks a lot. Lets get right back to our top story this morning, were just a few hours away from the state wide curfew. That goes into effect tonight, thats right so far San Francisco, san mateo and marin counties are in the red tears you can see on this map. They dont have to curfew just yet but the rest of the bay area counties are sitting in the purple tier and well have to abide by a 10 00pm curfew almost all nonessential businesses in those counties will have to close their doors. Contra costa county is one of those counties that are affected in the east bay and thats where we find kron fours reyna harvey this morning she joins us live from walnut creek hiring a good morning. Morning well good morning you should see people out here people are busy rushing trying to get everything done before that curfew starts tonight at 10 oclock not as restrictive as the first stay at home order we saw that there is a lot you need to know if you are an essential worker you have an essential business. Youre not going to closure door so if you are watching this right now thats for you however, there are some things like planning events or overnight gatherings that are not allowed to happen under this new stand home order so what can you do if you want to go grab takeout order takeout you can do that you have to to the Grocery Store maybe get gas go for a run, maybe walk your dog. You can do those things but its a really targeted on those groups of people gathering overnight. Theyre saying that theyve been doing research and they see that a lot of activity happens between those hours like i mentioned 10 00pm and 05 00am where people are not social distancing not always wear a mask so they are making sure that they put this in place we talked about the counties that this falls under alameda napa contra costa or salon sonoma and santa clara now ive been talking to people and not everybody likes this new order and some people they say it has to be done to listen. Order to stop this a pandemic we most people want to cooperate everybody that an hour Condominium Development believes we need to do whats necessary and i think most people will. Be out to be home certainly by 9. 10 oclock and most people probably want go out tonight. Ok so now the next question is how do they plan to enforce it a lot of people are wondering so what were doing is were looking at that first and home order and how that enforcement went down essentially they warn people first if there was anybody town in violation of this in the second thing they did it is hard to find businesses. I business not too long ago was upwards of a 1000 so again the situation now supposed to only last until december 21st however it can last much longer if cases continue to rise. For now reporting here wannacry crane, harvey kron 4 news all right thanks live from live report from Contra Costa County noel. And also in the east bay, the Alameda CountySheriffs Office is working to educate people about these new curfew rules. The sheriff says he trusts residents will do what is right. But also warns his department will act if needed. Now obviously businesses that mainly operate at night are going to feel the curfews greatest impact, some bar owners in san jose say theyre being unfairly singled out the brand and lounge is a popular bar and restaurant in san jose in line with pandemic rules allowed has been able to serve cocktails outdoors until 02 00am but that all ends tonight when the curfew goes into effect owner tony griffis calls the curfew counterproductive. If the real culprit here is private gatherings that maybe instead of targeting bars. We target costco safeways and Liquor Stores and see if we can cut alcohol sales, theirs. The curfew will be in effect until at least december 21st in all counties in that most restrictive purple tier again as of this morning that is all bay area counties except former in san mateo and San Francisco. And still ahead this morning on the kron 4 morning news. Were going continue our curfew coverage as we count down to the curfew were going to take a look at how San Francisco is preparing just in case. And then as companies rush to get their covid vaccines to market were going to talk to a Health Care Expert about when we might expect to see them here in the bay area. But first the pressure is mounting on lawmakers on capitol hill to pass another covid relief package as did added Unemployment Benefits are set to expire. Im back if you still havent received the 1200 stimulus check that was sent to you back in april you have until noon today to claim it and you can do that online. Yeah, the irs admits that it was not properly staff nor prepared to distribute billions of dollars to millions of Americans Last spring and thats contributed to delays and some people still waiting for their check. An irs spokesperson says nearly 9 million americans have claim their checks and they may not even know that theyre eligible. Meanwhile pressure is mounting on capitol hill for lawmakers to pass another relief package, millions of americans worry they will lose Unemployment Benefits face eviction or default on Student Loans if congress doesnt seal a deal soon. Yeah and some lawmakers say the time is of the essence to contain the pandemics economic fallout. Cares act and others Unemployment Insurance for people who are not part of our traditional unemployment system. There are covered now. After december 31st they wont be covered we desperately desperately need to get very least those Unemployment Benefits extended. Well congress is currently on leave for the thanksgiving holiday when they return the first week of december. They will have just 15 work days to try and pass a new relief package, dave. After a chilly start look at sun to come out help us warm up a little bit as we get to the 60s for this afternoon, but some more scattered clouds and watching something on sunday night to potentially covering sprinkle the north bay, but all together for you next year. Ocery outlet jingle do you have cheese . Of course. More cheese for less chedar do you have kale . Absolutly. More kale for less cabbage in our produce section. How about pizza . yep. Good morning, everybody welcome back 9. 13 this saturday morning. It is a little chilly outside i need jacket this morning walking to my car for sure dave spahr is standing by in the weather center. Im im wondering are we going to get any rain at all in the next couple of days, dave well see us good morning guys, good morning, everybody, maybe a little sprinkle up in the north bay on sunday night. Thats potentially sometimes its tough to dirty the car that somebody its going to cause medicaid to get anything most likely the bigger feature will be just an isolated jumping around of temperatures some scattered clouds like were going to see today. Thats really the only feature most folks are going to notice live shot from the east bay shoreline as you can see off in the distance and the bay again just some high cloudiness which we dont see from the shot from the golden gate kind of deep blue going on here forget the fog was not an issue at all today. And a little bit of a breeze that the flag is showing you there all right so on the satellite picture there are some of the scattered clouds you can see the southwest thats going to be a player in our forecast this afternoon. But getting to what noel was asking case we get through today, heres the cloud cover all right thats tonight. Tomorrow back to the mostly sunny weather on balance looks like that for most of the day this week system drop south. This particular model run not as enthused by it, but theres a little disagreement about it some hint at maybe a little bit of a sprinkle happening up there in the north bay potentially that will be up to sunset on sunday by the way temps right now were 39 for santa rosa 47 for napa weve got these 50s lining up to the east bay shoreline 44 for fremont and 51 for San Francisco. So we have a mix of clouds and sun going on today still those temperatures in the middle to upper 60s, it looks like well inland. Tomorrow, well see some better sunshine but a touch cooler though lower 60s upper 50s because well be on the backside of that and yet another system as we talked about sunday night, potentially for a sprinkle up in the north bay but then for the week ahead turning mostly sunny again some clouds coming back again midweek in 60s through much of the week. Today painting some clouds in there in the sky 65 San Francisco, 68 san jose and looks like oakland checks in at 67 across the wider bay will reach for some upper 60s in some locations. But will cool back tonight, it looks like as we clear back out again next couple of days noting some of that leftover cloud cover on sunday we should clear out for the afternoon and then for monday whatevers left over from that system i mention on sunday will be with us to greet us, but a lot of sunshine stills expected into next week. Youre a long range forecast coming up in a bit well. All right, thanks dave. Another big story were following this morning as the ongoing sprints to get a covid19 vaccine approved by the fda. And available for use so far pfizer has it applied for emergency use authorization for its vaccine. If approved the first doses of the shot could be rolled out for use in just weeks the kron fours gayle ong spoke to a medical supply expert to find out more. The covid19 vaccine race is speeding up as Drug Companies announced progress pfizer and moderna announcing their vaccines are about 95 effective we spoke with samantha a pharmacy solution advisor at which provides hospitals with data to help them solve Health Care Supply chain challenges trip pharmaceutical companies which is better. I think its too early to really be able to bet on on one vaccine over the other, but what we do know is that the fda very rigorous in their so they do grant. Emergency use authorization to either it means that in their eyes a benefit far outweighs the risks and that a review the efficacy and safety data pfizer is awaiting emergency approval from the food and Drug Administration if signed off the vaccine could roll out in a few weeks moderna expects to also seek emergency authorization within weeks the drug will be given to those most at risk particularly health care workers. The plan is to phase this out i think with those 2 manufactures theres probably going to be about doses but theyre projecting for the end of nearly a billion next year and the big question when will the public have access to the vaccine for the rest of us likely and 2021. Those that are perhaps lower risk whats great about that is as they continue the Clinical Trials and continue to study other patient populations like perhaps pediatric children populations and things of that nature will have a little bit more information also in 2021. Publics first chance to see how well the evidence really is will come december 10th. Thats when fda scientific advisors will have a Public Meeting in the meantime, how the experts say the best way to protect yourself from covid is wearing a mask. Here in santa clara gayle ong kron 4 news. Pand santa clara counties expanding its covid19 testing as well beginning next week the testing site at the Santa Clara County fairgrounds will be able to accommodate 3,000 appointments every day and 5,000 by the middle of next month. The county is currently seen an alarming increase in covid19 cases and hospitalizations Officials Say the number of hospitalizations jumped by more than 50 in one week from november 12th through the 19th. In the east bay berkeley city officials confirm more than 200 covid19 cases at Golden Gate Fields racetrack all of the people who tested positive either live or work at the track. Officials say that all of them are now isolated off site and that follows federal state and city guidelines and the track is also helping out with offside housing for those who have tested positive and is arranging for a meal deliveries twice a day. The racetrack is closed until further notice with all racing events suspended. A pandemic has forced countless people and families to wonder where their next meal will come from and as we head into the holidays groups across the bay area are gearing up to help out before the pandemic hit Second Harvest of Silicon Valley served roughly 250,000 families a month. That number has now doubled Second Harvest is now planning on giving out free boxes of food to families in need they say the pandemic has changed the way they distribute and accept donations. Well this year were actually not accepting food donations just due to concerns about safety trying to reduce the traffic get in our lobby and most of our retail due to safety concerns dont want to have bills in the stores right now for every dollar donated we can actually provide meals to end were very dependent on Financial Support from individual thats where the majority of our funding comes from. If youd like to donate money or volunteer your time you can get details on the Second Harvest website. S h s b dot org. Also in the south bay a long line of cars gathered in san jose this week to receive a free thanksgiving meal from Sacred Heart Community service, the organization has switched to a drivethru giveaways service during the pandemic and workers tell us the demand has increased this year. Folks are on the work we have people who are at home with their kids doing distance learning. So the demand for food is has gone up and weve definitely seen an uptick. Sacred heart will continue giving away thanksgiving meals through wednesday, all told they expect to provide more than 4,000 meals and theyre always looking for both food and financial donations as well as volunteers, so if youre interested and helping you can find a link on our website kron 4 dot com. President trump lost their by more than 20,000 votes and he continues to allege mistakes and fraud in milwaukee and dane counties even though hes produced no evidence to back up his claims. The u. S. Is nearing 12 million covid19 cases and as we get closer to welcoming a new president youre taking a look behind me of the live case tracker this is put up by Johns Hopkins university. Joe khalil now looks ahead with the Inauguration Day could look like amid the pandemic. In just a few short weeks americans are going to engage in a ritual that we do every 4 years we will inaugurate another president down capitol mall just that way not far from where were standing and were used to the images, hundreds of thousands of people gathering well this year were in a Global Pandemic were not exactly sure what that event is going to look like now, but what wen are certain its going to be a lot different from years past. Its perhaps the most visible symbol of american democracy so help god. Congratulations. The president ial inauguration. The peaceful transition of power but this year those who wish to witness history up close may be disappointed the entire planning process is going to have to be different, you know theyre going to have to do that we identified every di meola g professor amanda cast doubts as organizers must find a way to draw down the usual crowds historically in the hundreds of thousands or risk another covid super spreader event this is something that happens in washington dc. But we at this point during the pandemic we need to make sure that we work in coordination with the local Health Departments castile says that means extra medical teams and stand up covid testing sites i can imagine that show could. Place either shares or polls or some kind of designation where people are allowed to stand and everyone is 6 feet apart democrat senator Kirsten Gillibrand says the Incoming Biden Administration should even consider a virtual inauguration where guests or speakers would take part remotely and unprecedented idea he really has to take covid seriously and in january were just going to be far deep into the resurgence thats already started though not everyone on capitol hill likes the idea of a virtual inauguration nation plan of an inauguration for whoever, its an are great on Inauguration Day republican senator ron johnson does agree that a large inauguration crowd isnt ideal. But he says that problem well fix itself. Lets face with covid is probably going to be certainly reduce size of should be easier plan for graduations mister and while the inauguration is a federal event as the Vice President elect forms an inauguration committee. And another member of the white house has tested positive for covid19 this time its the president s son donald trump junior. His spokesperson says trump junior tested positive at the beginning of the week and hes been in quarantine since then hes reportedly showing no symptoms and is the latest figure close to the president to test positive for covid19. The president First Lady Melania Trump and their son barron also tested positive and they have since recovered dave. After a chilly start were going to see those temperatures climb through the 60s across the bay today and will be treated with some of those high clouds kind of picking up a little bit us in the afternoon. Well take a look at what it looks like going into thanksgiving just that good. I think on 4 morning news, good morning berber to start things off kind of chilly but getting those temperatures into the 60s this afternoon got to get a sneak peek here whats going on up the tahoe where start things off kind of mild about 51 for a high going on for tomorrow. But were dropping off into the 40s you can see your from monday into tuesday as reminder should see mostly sunny skies in that period, although some cloud cover for tomorrow live shot of sfo, no delays happening there Temperature Check were still at a rows of thats the top of the hour. I suspect next hour of course going to join everybody else in the 40s 57 for oakland, 51 San Francisco, east bay shoreline lower 50s. Now no concern about some of this cloud cover starting to thicken up for right now as we look at things on the satellite picture is low out to sea is us with some cloud cover its not a big temperature effect and its not going give us any rain or anything but we do have another system dropping south by tomorrow. What will be for night since it set so early and briefly may bring us a little sprinkle up in the north bay if anybody gets anything that will be what happened as we march forward with that this is what were talking about here. This resolution is not really tight, but the models disagree on that board is going to mention it verbally here the little shower up in the north bay beyond that we get some cooler temperatures behind all of it midweek Something Else worth noting this would be wednesday morning a more scattered clouds our way little cooler should clear out in time for thanksgiving though, and the weekend that follows is fairly quiet. Well see what this new system does early into the following week highs today across the state we have mid 60s down south 74 san diego, 59 monterey, 65, San Francisco, a closer inspection our 4 zone forecast for your saturday, 65 San Francisco to the coast will do 60 Pacifica Bayside into the middle 60s, it looks like 66 for burlingame 65 san bruno and getting some upper 60s heading down south palo alto 67 Mountain View 66 Santa Clara Valley approaching at about 70 in the upper 60s. Morgan hill at 69 and milpitas at 68. East bay shoreline to the south and mid 60s. Little bit on the other into the mid 60s off the tri valley as you can see 67 for pleasanton dublin, 6666 8 for one a creek in 63 going on for berkeley jumping up to the north bay here were going 74 sonoma 67 for napa and santa rosa checkin at 69 with mid 60s, heading down south. Again we got the cloud cover kind of coming in going again sunday night notation might pick up that north bay sprinkle also little chance north on wednesday, the clearing up in time for thanksgiving. Temperatures stay in the 60s to the period, although notice that drop that happens by thanksgiving morning lows will be chilly though inland in the 30s brushing in flirting with near about freezing going sometimes and then for the coast will do the 40s spec too. All right, thanks a lot will this year more people than ever will need help for thanksgiving dinner that pandemic of course forcing food banks. And other social services in the bay area to go into overdrive but they still need more help thats right. We are joined live this morning now by Roberto Hernandez from mission food hub, so that he can tell us what they need. Ahead of thanksgiving and how you can help avert a thanks so much for joining us. S one of the year at the mission food have were getting ready for thanksgiving weve been working on this for 2 months now. We have over 7,000 families that we provide groceries to every single week so i 2 months ago. Lets go hunting for turkeys weve already gotten that have weve either purchase or that have been donated with money that weve but and are were almost there so hopefully can more people donate turkeys or donate money. So that every family can celebrate during this time this and you sacred tradition where we all gathered together and cook cooking is a very sacred thing its very for families and then to sit down and give grace and thanks for all our blessings and we want to make sure that everybody can celebrate it with some dignity this year. Remember youve been helping people out in the Mission District for as long as i can remember a covid has hit the missions so hard why do you think that is. First of all the you know the latino community. You or the genders theyre the front line workers and from the very beginning they werent protected. And so a lot of our people got the virus in right away early as april and so when you look at San Francisco, 50 of our people have gotten the virus but yet were only 15 of the population is and so thats been the the risk factor of not being able to shelter in and having to go to work and not being protected and thats one of the things that weve been doing that the Mission Giving mask and ppe each that only workers but also to Small Businesses to ensure that people are are safe. Helping not only to to feed these families and people who need it but youre also helping to keep them safe which i think is really really important during all of this. Its 7,000 families and that youre trying to help this year correct. Yes, 7,000 not only in the mission but in the tenderloin dig cells year the bayview Hunters Point and the valley. Rebirth of this is as grassroots as it gets in the Mission District this food drive started in your garage right. Actually i started eating in march when i first got a call you know several families tell me they have lost their jobs. And i said whats your number one need and he said food and so we buying 50 pound bags of rice and beans and oatmeal sign started bagging out of my garage, but that was unsustainable and and the and it just grew so were blessed to get 7 oh one alabama street which is a warehouse, its owned mission with some locations school meals and shallow and then warehouses and think they gave me 1 room within the warehouse and within a month i was i took over the whole warehouse and build the refrigerator in there. So we can keep milk in this and other nice and cold and also more and the most important you know we have over 300 volunteers and 60 of them are people used to be in the lines. Wow. So you have you need turkeys you you mentioned the turkeys what else is it that you guys need. Food food everyday things it comes in it comes pretty much pretty much the rice beans as you mentioned mahsa turkeys would be great but youre also except in a cash donations as well. Yeah you know weve been blessed to have a lot of in the individuals have gone in from 5 up 5,000 and so it it running about a Million Dollars a to operate and to be able to provide you know weekly some 1000 families groceries every week. Yeah, any little bit helps 5 to 500 whatever it is that people can give can you let us know exactly how people can can contact you should they just go in and drop off their donations at the warehouse there. Yeah they contact us at 4, 1, 5, 2060577 or come to the mission on monday wednesday and its 7 oh alabama street or you can go to our Facebook Page or go to our website at mission each make an donation or you can mail a check to us. Remember switching gears just a little bit its been in the news over the past several weeks now of the increase in covid19 cases in the bay area in San Francisco are you starting to see this or have you seen it in the mission as well. It and one of the we have volunteers that actually walk the line to make sure that everybody has a mass and that they fully covered there their their their mouth and their nose. And we also have you know be volunteers are ucsf medical students and one that questions the asked is are you feeling you know you have a temperature any symptoms and. Believe me. I its i mean all how people shaw who have covid on our line so we pull him out of the lines we send them home and we actually do we have volunteers who drive in and deliver food to them and and this last week weve weve had a major increase of people showed up or people have called us and i used to be in the line i can go covid can you deliver all food jenn to our all yeah. Remember to thank you so much for the work that youre doing we want to put up on the screen again where people can donate and where people can help out and youre well on your way to meeting your goal, lets hope that you do that and continue that wonderful work thank you are to hernandez. Thank you for having us on sheet have a happy thanksgiving you did to me appreciate everything youre doing to help the community for sure thanks well be right back.
