Good afternoon justine here the Santa Clara County board of supervisors set to weigh in on a plan that airport critics say could solve 2 problems at once they say closing review of airport of could bring some peace of mind and improve safety to neighbors of the airport and then the land could be converted to Affordable Housing. Lets take a closer look. Hillview airport has fended off efforts to close it for decades over safety concerns. It closed a 100 acre county own land in East San Jose would go a long way to solving the Regions Affordable Housing crisis is spurs to recent it is time to re imagine revealed airport as inaccessible Community Asset. I will bring it to you. Now it has been. More than 2 weeks since plywood started going over the doors and windows of many buildings in downtown San Francisco. All because of concerns surrounding the outcome of the president ial election. But now more than a week after the election and a lot of businesses are still barricaded. Is in Union Square Green had gotten the explanation as to why businesses have not taken. Plywood down yet. Im being told that in part partially due to the uncertainty around the president ial election and what might happen here. I want to show im seeing a business a merchant with plywood covering the glass windows and doors but a sign up here say that they are still open for business. Lets roll some video of some of the other examples of that i found today in and around union square, this also happening downtown San Francisco at all well, you know pat down here in union square where it is a you know were in the Holiday Shopping season. And having a festive window displays part of the magic of the season. It certainly helps draw in customers but a lot of that magic is on hold while some of this is covid partly due to the feelings. Of the uncertainty surrounding the election. Spokesperson for the Union Square BusinessImprovement District says so far this week about 10 to 15 businesses have taken down their plywood. But there are still that say theyre waiting a little longer to see what happens a lot of this has do with the fact that even though joe biden is the president elect President Trump still not concede. So there could be some uncertainty you know if the president contest the election so we just try to protect ourselves do have people know that the stores are open down here those Walking Around downtown who have fewer places to window shop right now find it sad but understandable theres no way to predict what will happen. Probably nothing. Probably is not good enough if youre a with a plate glass window, i think thats a commentary of said. Whether an election goes one way or another way we should be able to accept. With the decision was in people think differently than we do. And thats not all that maybe we have to take a look at ourselves maybe our thinking needs to be readjusted maybe were wrong on some things maybe other people right on things but violence is never the answer. Yeah we do know that some more businesses are planning to take their plight went down this but are expected to stay up until sometime in january just in case meanwhile, union square says theyre trying to keep the holiday spirit breakdown here despite the tree here in union there going to be having a mostly virtual Tree Lighting on november, 18. The menorah will still be lit up down here.
