But for millions of americans that will not mean heading to the polls as many as 52 million have already cast their ballot including President Trump who cast his vote in person in palm springs, florida this morning. Im looking for a guy named trump. After voting the president told reporters that he cast his ballot in what he thought was the safest way. It was a big day of campaigning for the president he attended 3 separate rallies in north carolina, ohio and wisconsin. Meanwhile democratic president ial candidate joe biden visiting pennsylvania as he looked to swing voters in that key battleground state had some star power on hand rock star jon bon jovi giving a small concert at a drivein rally performing 3 songs and also praising bidens response to the coronavirus and whole shake with our sister station has more on this event. Joe biden knows full. Well the victory here in the keystone state could pave the way for him to win the white house and i asked mister biden questions on a wide range of topics the first involved his position on fracking what you want americans, especially those who are connected to the Natural Gas Industry and fossil fuel industry. What can expect under a Biden Administration should be elected. I would do not i will not ban fracking i said no fracking on federal land i will not ban fracking number one number 2. The cole an issue new Natural Gas Industry and oil is not going to be fundamentally changed. Theyre already in transition, what im saying is that we will not continue to subsidize give tax breaks to the Oil Companies which are amount to 40 billion dollars. They will not get that and that money will be put into research and development to figure out how to Carbon Capture which coming off of gas and and what about his plan to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. Look. Follows what the scientists are saying if we just were these mask we can save a 100,000 lives. I laid out a detailed plan. How we can open up businesses and how we can open up schools safely i asked the former Vice President about his son hunter biden and questions about his overseas business dealings. Questions and controversy continues about hunter biden your sons there is no controversy about his dream is all right, its a flat lie because the president has nothing else to run on. If you notice and while American People are talking about whats happening their families. He has no plan to debate is no plan. Everything from the wall street journal over every other major news out of this said what hes saying is simply not true about my son, but its its classic trump and biden tells me hes not read too much into polls. I asked him about pulling in 2016 at about the same time prior to the election in which Hillary Clinton was leading then candidate donald trump on feeling good about where we are lets put this in perspective. Every poll that were involved with is that has us in the lead and im not counting on and try earn every single vote has this well beyond where Hillary Clinton was and every poll has him will be lower because so far the president has and said what hes going to do in his next 4 years that will change anything. The investigation into how this all went down is now underway. They could have been very catastrophic caught on camera a wall of flames surrounding the front part of this oil tanker. The scene playing out on the west lanes of interstate 80 near Hilltop Drive just before 11 oclock saturday morning. And a motorcycle. It appears that the accident occurred several 100 yards behind where the tanker ended up and that the motorcycle was under the cap. Tanker truck so something caused a spark and something breached the forward of the 2 tanks on the tanker truck so we had gas on the ground and we had a source of ignition and thats how the fire started richmond fire battalion chief know a brownlow says the tanker carrying some 8,000 gallons of fuel at the time. Sources and no fire hydrants along the busy freeway. Crews had to get creative with keeping the tank school to make sure they didnt explode they had a deal complicated pows led to a hydrant then jason neighborhood. We special called bomb from. Its 66. Phillips 66 responded with an engine and that specialized bond that we need was there on scene were able to extinguish the fire. The normally busy turning into a parking lot for drivers for hours in both directions. Evacuation orders were given for some folks living close to that scene chp not trying to piece together exactly what happened. But despite the scene both drivers walked away with no injuries but with quite a story to tell. Pretty miraculous that neither one of them was hurt nobody else got hurt. Definitely some good news tonight. Weve learned that all lanes of traffic in that area of i 80 once again back open tonight. And after the north bay for an update on a story we first brought you last week Fairfield Police are asking for help in identifying a car believed to be connected to a deadly shooting. This happened last thursday october 15th, just before midnight at the lot on her eyes and drive thats west of Travis Air Force base. Police have now released this image of the suspects vehicle from the night of the shooting. Its a dark green fourdoor sedan Police Believe the driver fired several shots into a group of people striking and killing 20 yearold jose cortes anyone who sees or recognizes this car has any information has asked to contact Fairfield Police all right, lets switch gears right now talk weather in our 4 zone forecast akron, 4 meteorologist Mabrisa Rodriguez. Joins us now with what we can expect with the winds on sunday, yeah, make sure to take advantage of tonight and most of tomorrow morning and afternoon bay area because we have a wind advisory going into effect. And it is possibly going to blow away any halloween decorations that you have out there so just keep that in mind tracking sustained winds 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour in the valleys could easily see gusts even along the coast upwards of 55 Miles Per Hour with the highest peaks from the north bay mountains and east bay hills as high as 70 Miles Per Hour. So thats why we have this red flag warning in effect for the north bay hills and east bay hills and mountains, including the diablo range this red flag warning will go into effect at 11 oclock sunday morning all the way through Tuesday Morning but for the rest of the bay area its mainly going to start sunday night through monday morning. So there are 2 red flag warnings there not a typical red flag warning because were not tracking any hot conditions but extremely dry and windy weather. Well still give us that high fire danger peak of our high fire season in the bay area tracking a lot of moisture out there right now in the form of that deepening marine layer so once again were going to notice that increase in that cloud cover right now it is hanging tight along the coast, but it will become more widespread during the overnight hours but then by around mid morning with those northerly winds were going to clear out and what the marine layer will be nonexistent that is going to contribute to our single digit relative humidity temperatures out there right now widespread 50s along the coast 60s as you make your way inland with overnight lows tonight pretty chilly along most coastal cities of the bay area in the mid to upper 40s, even napa 47 degrees. Everyone else in our inland valleys in the low to mid 50s and tomorrows daytime highs slightly cooler than today so were all going to be below average widespread 60s on the bay areas shoreline with low 70s as you make your way inland taking a look ahead at the next 7 day outlook. We are tracking. Some marine layer sunday, but then warming up by monday. Were monday through wednesday were actually going to wake up to temperatures in our inland valleys in the 30s so near freezing temperatures there but then warming up and from we today it is going to be noticeably dry out their 70s along the inland valleys and even for those of you along the bay with the mid 60s in the coastal cities of the bay area so just cnn jonathan all eyes are on tomorrow cant stress it enough hide up fire danger still continues in the bay area were watching it for us tonight, thanks for risa. So weak. So there is a plan just to come home and do online and then we thought about it and send. Lets take a year. Its clearly independently. I didnt want to have to pay for school. For it to be on mine, i dont think the education is the same christie this story is the same as thousands of High School Graduates across the country freshman enrollment colleges and universities nationwide is down 16 from last year according to the National StudentClearinghouse Research Center overall were you surprised by these numbers we were very surprised by the first by the freshman number so concerned about the freshman is really fix is is really there are now hundreds of thousands of freshman across the country who didnt show up for college at all this fall compared to last year. Experts say there could be a longterm impact on schools financially this will definitely be a concern for many colleges and students are of course the source of revenue and that there are faculty and administrative jobs that are at risk and some may be at risk of closing down as for kristina she feels like she made the right decision waiting a year to go to college. She wants to see what happens with the pandemic in the meantime she works 2 jobs and is cheerleading a lot of my friends are going to college and there. Partying and i see all the stuff they can do with their fashion activities and sororities and it looks super fun. But i dont think im missing or anything because i can just do that next year. That was brian into reporting for us tonight. Experts also say that freshman enrollment has dropped by nearly 25 at Community Colleges all across america. This weekend on inside california politics, the push continues to reopen school safely, san jose mayor sam liccardo joins the king lorenzo and Frank Buckley to talk about the effort from california mayors to promote change when it comes to reopening schools. You can watch inside california politics at 6. 30 sunday morning right here on kron 4. Still to come tonight here on kron 4 news at 8 under ken wayne takes us to a dog sanctuary in the north bay. Its giving some old dogs a new chance details as part of a National Effort to spread awareness. And halloween is next weekend. But people are scooping up Christmas Decorations faster than one company can make them. I didnt choose this job because it was easy. But i cant say i expected this. To fight these fires, we need funding plain and simple. For this crisis, and for the next one. Prop 15 closes tax loopholes so rich corporations pay their fair share of taxes. So firefighters like me, have what we need to do the job, and to do it right. The big corporations want to keep their tax loopholes. Its what they do. Well, i do what i do. If yould like to help, join me and vote yes on prop 15. Well you may have noticed that some stores have already rolled out Christmas Holiday decorations and theyre already selling out. We havent even done the halloween, yeah, i thanksgiving or even but is not just the stores, but the companies that make those decorations that are already in high demand as well that were gonna go with our sister station in kansas city talked to one business thats already busy. Clark griswold isnt the only one jumping the gun when it comes to holiday like decorations this year this year we just got an early start in more customers want Christmas Lights up early in a normal year ron home and his Company Lights and christmas starts to get busy in the days leading up to thanksgiving, but this year for the first time his lighting decor crews are going full throttle well before halloween got several families has said that there have been small gatherings for halloween that they may not see their family for christmas or whatnot when ron started his business years ago to get some recognition he hit the streets with his rudolph mobile an obvious nod to the van in the movie dumb and dumber. But this year theres no need to advertise the demand for holiday lights is hitting early the majority of my regular cruise all have start you know the last week of october and i had to 2 or 3 weeks earlier this year just to keep up with everything its a trend being seen nationwide it could be a lot of reasons for it but rons best guess is that families are eager to celebrate anything after a year wed all like to forget the our motto is let it shine and we think that this years just everybodys ready to have a good time and. Kind of be done with 2020 and celebrate christmas. We still havent gotten through all the way to get that was that mcgonigle reporting for us tonight. Still to come tonight here on kron 4 news at 8 giving all dogs a new chance in tonights flying tells kron 4 anchor ken wayne takes us to a senior dog sanctuary in the north bay to uber and lyft are like every big guy ive ever brought down. Prop 22 doesnt help their drivers it denies them benefits. 22 doesnt help women. It actually weakens Sexual Harassment laws, which are meant to protect them. Uber and lyft arent even required to investigate Sexual Harassment claims. I agree with the la times no on 22. Uber and lyft want all the power. So, show them the real power is you. Vote no on prop 22. A very special week is coming up for some pet lovers tomorrow is the start of saving the senior dogs week, a social Media Campaign to spread awareness about older dog so even though more than a million dogs are adopted from american animal shelters every year. Its many senior dogs that are often left behind in tonights flying tells kron 4 anchor ken wayne talk to the founder of this campaign. Yes. Rich and juliet are here to meet their potential new Family Member came. The picture of him. And said you have to check out this. Hank is 11 years old and was given up by his family in washington state. While some surrenders are unavoidable often over covid related finances. There are plenty of older dogs are a given up because theyre just old. A lot of people just get to a point where they think you know the older dog can keep up with family in and so they traded in for new is not just you know thats really hard to deal alice main founded lilies legacy senior dog sanctuary in Sonoma County about 2 years ago to give the senior dogs a Second Chance would you treat your grandmother that way would you kick her out because she can you know us cant keep up cant go on hikes and more know you and i mean hopefully would be there are thousands of Animal Rescue organizations across the country. But only a small fraction of them focus on senior dogs there probably are more than 5040 or 50 in the United States and youre like 14,000 rescues. So its a very small percentage very small percentage. Saving senior dogs week is a National Campaign to raise awareness about homeless senior dogs in the u. S. Its estimated about 670,000 dogs are euthanized each year in this country and with senior dogs often the last choice for adoption. They can be the first to be put down. See your dogs are perceived to be very difficult to top down which in fact theyre not. Alice has a stable of dogs were living happy lives despite some with medical conditions even life threatening illnesses. She shouldnt be a reason to give up on them. She points to a dog named faraday that was adopted out. That said he would be probably lived for maybe 2 to 3 months that was a year ago september and hes been a phenomenal hospice home hes getting very good medical treatment and hes just a happy the proceeds from saving senior dogs week will be divided among participating rescue organizations to support their efforts and to help establish new senior rescues they are incredibly grateful. I think this thing that i have learned the most from these talks over the years is gratitude every single one of them just exhibits incredible gratitude. Which brings us back to hank he looks like hes strong and healthy and in good shape. And were happy to take care of him in his later he wasted no time a the next going home by in paradigm. Thank looks really happened there. Dogs are the best they really hands down lets talk now about our Weather Forecast for sunday, thats the really important one that were watching because the winds are really going to start doing some dangerous stuff tomorrow things really are going just can be very wild an active out there, im meteorologist rodriguez is here now with a look at what folks can expect. The gusty us winds for those of you over the north bay, so no surprise there even through monday morning. Were still going to notice those winds peaking at around that time because remember for the north bay mountains and east bay hills the wind advisory and also for the red flag warning not going to expire until around Tuesday Morning so relative humidity from now until sunday morning a lot of moisture, thanks to that deepening marine layer increasing our moisture content 80 to 90 . But then look at how would draw significantly into the single digit range so very little moisture thats what we have that red flag warning even though temperatures tomorrow are actually going to be below average, but all day sunday afternoon and evening were going to notice relative humidity in that single digit range back to you jonathan and justine.
