Danger is something that should be concerning to us all day long today, sonoma calistoga fairfield danville in Half Moon Bay, some of your more remarkable and consistently windy spots throughout the evening into this morning and some of our warmer areas to now working their way through the morning youre gradually going to see these wind speeds calming down and by the time we work towards 03 30pm as youre seeing on the map right here a noticeably less windy day but were still under red flag warnings with temperatures hot enough humidity low enough. And winds still present enough for fire danger to remain high 60s 70s, and yes, a couple of 80 still on the map alameda at 80 degrees right now say only know youre right there as well. Some of our wind your spots are also some of those warmer areas and thus well we are looking at still high fire danger this morning as it will remain into the afternoon by the afternoon ahead of us some record breakers likely upper 90s inland, mid 90s by the bay and even checking in with some mid to upper 80s at the coastline. Ive got more details about all that still to come rob, it. Thank you john the morning looks pretty good crossing bay area bridges, its going to be a little crowded out there for some of you. But im already noticing the traffic improve well start off with a 92 the trip across the 70 oh bridge. You see its a little busy here leaving hayward heading over to the peninsula. Its been like that around 4. 30 this morning but youre overall drive time looks great. Its only 13 minutes for your average to one o one in san detail, heres the bay bridge toll plaza, its actually delay free we started off at some heavy traffic, but its gone so this commute has thinned out early and nicely 13 minutes into San Francisco and leaving San Francisco heads up for stalled big rig on the lower deck eastbound at the Treasure Island off ramp. It happens all the time because those trucks are just way too big for that very narrow ramp tow trucks are heading out to the scene expect a little bit of a backup eastbound getting out of San Francisco back to you, thanks a lot robin lets get back to the power situation pg and e is saying that they. Are in the process of restoring power if you have lost it. But thousands of people are still waking up waiting for that electricity to come on james yeah, absolutely fact as we look at p g zone map here that shows where the power has been shut off. You look to the areas in pink and purple and along the peninsula course its higher up in the hills all the way down towards the Santa Cruz Mountains across the bay. We dont see much until we get to the altamonte past that stretch along 5. 80 between tracy in livermore then of some of the foothill areas around mount diablo impacted by these intentional power shut offs and finally the north bay thats where were seeing our largest section of power shut offs and they really do impact the Higher Elevations of the hills there on either side of both the napa and the sonoma valleys, yeah, well trans been in the dark a nap all morning long, hows it going now at least the sun is up get a little light out there. Yes, i see you all walk around a stub your toe that is painful in the dark looking over my shoulder right there james, darya you couldnt see it. But now you can make out. Holmes homes are in the dark because there were no lights for us to even show it to you the sun is up. Thank goodness for this particular area. This is awful all of hill lane, no power and just a few miles from this location. And heres video of that. If you live west of the napa river in calistoga youre thankful also for the sun coming up because you were without power and probably will not have power for the next several hours as pg and e crews are still circling this area looking at power line seeing what can be done before they flip on the switch to turn on the power. And if you live east of the napa river in calistoga you probably do have power because of the microgrid system which was put in place a couple years ago to keep places like hospitals and Police Departments and fire stations on during those disastrous wildfires, so if you live near those facilities chances are that you have power the bottom line is pg any took away power to as many as 41,000 customers to prevent wildfires in. We didnt see any wildfires thankfully in the overnight hours so it appears that it worked pg says they had to because the conditions were right for another wildfire. When gus over 45 Miles Per Hour wind speeds over 25 Miles Per Hour in our weather stations or pg weather stations on not lena did record 65 mile per hour wind gusts really which is a big a big hassle. Now we have to go through all of this if this leads from like another like glass and suddenly better to have power for 2 days and be gone for like a week or so. So i mean nobody was happy about it james and area, but it was the lesser of 2 evils about having the power wiped out for 24 to 36 hours pg and e said they are trying their very best snow hard schedule long when your power could be restored the reason why is they have to go around look at the power poles, the lines of any lines fell down because of the strong winds. They will have to repair that before flipping on the switch and john stray bull or body has been all over the windy conditions. I want to pass this along to john as well as our viewers look at the leaves right behind me on this tree here looks pretty still and that is good news because when was a major concern for pg and e. Back to you nice to see it coming down. Thank you will. Theyd also like power stored in the east bay oaklands montclair village states started to get power back on last night all day though yesterday it was hot. No a c and no electricity crawfords taylors sacking has more. Pg and e began power restoration for customers in Alameda County thursday night. Many in the Oakland Hills are relieved after spending a majority of the day without electricity megan miller put it simply its high in i did she and her husband are working from home at the same time their daughters also doing Distance Learning gained i can live us. You know chain to take things one day at a time the boys thankfully, and preschool and i spent the day. And my parents has it made id just changed and there. A few miles away say just change head and just didnt get things as best as possible while others tried juicing up at local businesses lucy thomas search for open stores in montclair village but quickly realized they were also in the dark this at home working. We didnt have internet. We had a couple of things both of us had work. Things that had to get tasks it had to get done. We drove around we came down here to start backs it was an open we actually ended up in Emeryville A Barnes and noble they had Free Internet at the book star pg and e says its customers in Alameda County should be waking up with power friday morning. In oakland Taylor Bisacky kron 4 news. Well new this morning, the Trump Administration has rejected californias request for a major disaster declaration following several large wildfires. The request was issued for 6 different wildfires, including the creek fire in fresno county. The state will appeal the administrations decision this is actually the second of 2 disaster declarations requested by the state in about a month. The first request was approved. Time now is 7 08 and good news mackey, the lemur has been found the animal went missing from the San Franciscos yes, nobody knew where he went. But now they have hes been found brought back to the zoo police try to figure out who it was that took him kron fours reyna harvey live at San Francisco zoo with more on the story ran a. The morning look so good news everybody here at the zoo, theyre happy that maki is back safe. Now the bizarre part about this entire story is mark is one of about 19 other lemurs hes actually the oldest one here 21 years old and hes the only one that went missing so everyone was pretty frantic. Wednesday you can see just how adorable he is here. Wednesday, they went to go check the cage made where the lemurs are where they keep the lemurs here at the zoo and thats when they noticed that he was missing and so immediately they reached out to the Police Department they started investigation, they put the information out there and thats where the Community Effort really played a huge part in this whole entire story because guess what on thursday the daly city Police Department on a phone call saying they saw him he was actually at the daley city Hope Lutheran church near a playground area. So they went there and he there he was Daly City Police found him they got him safely back to the people here at the zoo now he was gone for about 24 hours or so so wednesday when this and this is about 05 00pm thursday, when they located him now we spoke to some animal experts talk about why its so important that animals are really in professional care settings like here at the zoo take a listen. Something like this is just going to be suspenseful i imagine in that he probably would have terrible diarrhea which means its going to really dehydrated and so you know time is of the essence of thinking back get treated. I him a very specific dive lot of froomes definitely eat grain and bark and so for him to be out for that amount of time they dont know if whoever took it from here that they were feeding him the proper nutritional food that he needs and thats why she mentioned that there are also treating this as a burglary. They still dont know who took him so theyre asking people if you know how he was able to get out of where they came in here at the zoo to please come forward to the daly city Police Department any leads will help so i can mention staff is really happy hes back and im sure that hes also happy to be back with the other lemurs here at the zoo this morning for now reporting here outside the San Francisco zoo Reyna Harvey Kron 4 news. And the scene right now and sure would be nice if the heat would ease off eventually right john itll happen right at this point well take some 80s right. Later on today, youre going to notice that temperatures just as hot as yesterday but later this weekend and especially next week. We do get that high school down that weve been looking for 2. This morning. It is beautiful but berkeley you held on to heat almost all night last night was in the 80s until early this morning. High pressure is in place and not a lot of change in the big picture set up still looking at that offshore wind this morning that has been very steady overnight having picked back up after a slightly calmer afternoon yesterday. This afternoon it comes down again, but not enough that were going to be out of red flag warning territory until 06 00pm this evening. Just enough on the winds paired with the dry humidity and im very hot temperatures that yes, fire danger still very calm down temperatures further getting a little less hot so there are improvements as soon as tomorrow. Todays daytime highs will be hot enough for not just red flag warnings but also impeach heat advisories right along the bay and then right along the coastline to were daytime highs will be record breaking and like i said not just for those inland areas, were all in the same boat here dealing with some unseasonably hot weather Golden Gate Park and sunset district in the mid 80s. Well, coastal bayside spots in the 90s today, daly city in Half Moon Bay right up the coast in the upper 80s today while staying in the 90s for bayside areas like millbrae and burlingame down south are saying carlos in Mountain View which will be at 97 today, sonny bill at 98 san jose at 94 for your high today, east bay temperatures also just as hot if not hotter than yesterday was pleasanton at 98 walnut creek and concord 99. Even san leandro right there along the bay at 97 and so no about 100 degrees the high fire danger in those red flag warnings. No big surprise when youve got temperatures as hot as they will be at historically hot considering what time of year were in now as for tomorrow, not as hot as today, we its a little further away from the triple digits sunday we get even cooler yet and by next week we do see a return to our seasonal averages with low 80s inland monday and tuesday 70s by the bay and some much needed 60s at the coast. Robin. All right. Thank you john lets check in on some of our bridges starting off with one oh one the trip between the north bay and San Francisco looking good right now with no big problems so great trip both northbound and southbound youre clocking in at 20 minutes for your drive. Now here at the bay bridge toll plaza this is our second wave of heavy traffic we have some early this morning. It completely thinned out and all of a sudden. Heres another backup heading into San Francisco. I dont have any reports of any major issues are actually there was a minor accident but moved off to the side but. According to chp is not blocking and now we have slowed traffic all of us and doesnt take much right slow traffic from west grand up the incline heading out of San Francisco, a familiar problem, a stalled big rig at the Treasure Island off wrap it happens all the time if youve taken that ramp before you know that its very narrow too narrow for big rigs most of the time. So its stuck in blocking folks can exit there get off there so we have 2 lanes blocked on the lower deck and its causing a little bit of a backup so be aware of that if youre heading out of San Francisco will check more slow downs coming up back to you. Thanks a lot robin so mail theft is on the rise here in the bay area and its especially concerning giving the emphasis on mail in voting for the november election. But a network of cameras is helping police track down mail thieves in the east bay kron 4 says the video takes a look. Youre looking at photos of 2 built that suspects being arrested by San Ramon Police. Investigators say the pair targeted mailboxes in multiple cities across the east bay, so we recovered stolen mail from our victims from this prior week as well as. Residents from within danville walnut creek and the lay of the arrest happened within days of the actual crime as a result of the suspects vehicle being recorded by a residential surveillance camera represented by the green dot you see here on this map. The cameras part of a 280 citywide volunteer civilian camera registry, San Ramon Police captain Carrie Goldberg says that the vehicles information was given to Police Departments in the tri valley area who then use their own Police Network of license plate reader cameras to track down the suspects vehicle and theyll head and with that vehicle into our camera system. And we received the alert when it entered our city the suspects were arrested a short time later investigators say there appears to be a connection to the rise in bay area melt that crimes and thieves targeting people who have lost their jobs due to the coronavirus and are waiting for their unemployment checks to arrive in the mail since the pandemic began and checks started being mailed out. You know Identity Theft was on the rise as well out that if you are resident and would like to register your home surveillance cameras with the Police Department they would love to hear from you to my register, i mean to simply let us know that you have a camera and the ability to let us know something strange happens it in their neighborhoods Haaziq Madyun kron 4 news. 7. 20 and for your money this morning gun sales continue to hit record highs and Mortgage Rates are going in the other direction. Kron 4 morning news instead of a second president ial debate we have President Trump and joe biden addressing the nation and doing town hall will have i didnt choose this job because it was easy. But i cant say i expected this. To fight these fires, we need funding plain and simple. For this crisis, and for the next one. Prop 15 closes tax loopholes so rich corporations pay their fair share of taxes. So firefighters like me, have what we need to do the job, and to do it right. If yould like to help, join me and vote yes on prop 15. 29 want to take a look at the weather and see how it is now going into the weekend there. Good morning john good morning guys still hot and still windy and now that red flag warnings are in effect in ive actually been extended throughout the day, beautiful clear skies over San Francisco, offshore winds still keeping ocean cool theyre well out of our region, so red flag warnings in effect with heat dry conditions and winds that will remain even into the afternoon, ill be a little lighter than this morning. Expiring finally at 06 00pm tonight winds this morning have been quite breezy up in the north bay, especially with sonoma calistoga fairfield danville that to Half Moon Bay. Some of our most consistently, windy spots. Winds will remain steady through the morning starting to come into the afternoon by the afternoon ahead of us when we were initially supposed to be out of those red flag warnings we still do have enough of a wind paired with the heat and dry humidity. That yeah fire danger still definitely of concern today. Tomorrow, slightly not as hot and also a little less windy yet and well be taking a step back from that fire danger just enough, 60s 70s and even a couple of 80s on the map this morning alameda right at 80 degrees saint lena 81, some of your warmer spots are also some of your windiest areas. Well these winds these kind of winds is offshore ones actually oftentimes are paired. With some of our warmest of temperatures and dry stuff conditions thats of course that heightened fire danger that we are still in the midst of so be very mindful of. Later on today after a warm start to the morning just downright hot afternoon, upper 90s and triple digits inland with 90s by the bay and 80s right up the coastline. Robin thank you john were heading back to the richmond sandra fell bridge because i have sort of a fivecar crash. I dont see it in my camera shot so it could be somewhere. Before the camera before the pay gates which is where chp is reporting it i just i dont see it just yet so 5 cars blocking the left lane its going to add to the slowing on your approach to the toll plaza and its already stacked up from castro street leading up to the pay gates, so just know that as you head up closer to the pacers an accident somewhere in the mix thats not helping the traffic at all here at the bay bridge toll plaza we have a crash on west the toll plaza that quickly cleared and its just another wave of heavy traffic it out completely thinned out just like maybe 1520 minutes ago was wide open and now we have heavy traffic from west grand heading up toward Treasure Island and heading out of San Francisco keep in mind that theres a stalled big rig at the Treasure Island offer have yes, its still blocking their just way too big for that near a ramp. So the 2 left lanes blocked on the lower deck that means slow little bit of slow traffic for you heading out of San Francisco back to you. Were now just 18 days away from the president ial election and last night President Trump and democratic nominee joe biden held dueling town hall events to answer questions from voters, joe biden took part in a town hall moderated by abc news, George Stephanopoulos and donald trump participated in a town hall hosted by nbc news. And the 2 events could have been more different. Dont voters have a right to know where they do have a right to know their stand i have a right to know where i stand before they vote. Crazy and i do a lot of reach with. Wow lot one here do crazy uncle and i shouting match and the other is sort of a very subdued conversation. Yeah joining us now to break down what we heard and what we can take away from. Last nights town halls weve got political analyst michael yaki good morning michael. Good morning, so michael heres how we handled it we thought you know they both won at the very same time. So james said okay, ill watch biden you watch trump and then well talk turns out i could barely even find it because it wasnt on at the same time on regular nbc. I had to look at msnbc so anyway, so i missed the first a 10 or 15 minutes which was all the stuff about the coronavirus things started getting queuing on what writing lets just start with those big explosive things that happened to trump last night where he wouldnt say i cant remember about negative tests. I dont know about you and on but i know that they you know i was yeah, ill put a file so so i i dont like that. I was flipping back and forth. And sick. It was kind of like switching from punk rock to smooth back and forth. It was. One person who was shouting a lot and. Savings and being very very defiant and then the other person and a laidback unlike. Yeah, this is what im kind any kind of do you know so its going to be it was it was interesting i think that theyre couple take aways from from last night one on the trump side was well decidedly the rather bizarre answer to the one to the queuing on but to also to that to the re tweet of be back crazy claim that seal team but president obama and joe biden ordered the assassination of seal team 6 the coverup that they only kill the body double of Osama Bin Laden and trump goes well i tweeted and and you know i let people decide and thats what Savannah Guthrie came up with went out of youre the president youre not so its crazy on me not that was really something on the buy side it was much much more about policy and the nuance and and really sort of did george get joe biden to advance the ball a little bit on the issue of what is he going to do with the Supreme Court after Amy Coney Barrett is confirmed in a couple of weeks and he said he was open to and im going to im going to bet you a lot of money his campaign is going walk that back a little bit over the next couple of days. Ok we actually sound both sides talking about the judge barrett situation. If you look at it that if you put shoe the other if they had this say would do it 100 so just been 29 times when this is after in fall 29 times president isnt exactly what ive done. But ill tell you the whole ball game change what i saw the way they treated Justice Kavanaugh i have never seen any human being and im not just talking about Supreme Court i have never seen a human being treated so badly with false accusations and everything else. I have never seen anything like it and you know what the truth is like it or not. The ball game changed a lot. If they vote before the election you are open to expanding the court. Im open to what happens from that point on and said so many times during the campaign all through the course of your career, its level. What is georgia. If i if i say no matter what answer i gave you. If i say thats the headline tomorrow, it wont be about whats going on now the improper way theyre proceeding dont voters have a right to know where they do have a right to know they stand i have a right to know where i stand before they vote. Wow again so different so different the tones of these town halls. It was it was it was you know it. World wrestling on one side and Mister Rogers neighborhood on the other mean their effect. Its funny one of the trump people try to criticize the bind town all as theres like Mister Rogers neighborhood which actually i find a little refreshing during these kind of crazy times so thats just me. Yeah and then one of the other topics that came up to was finances, for President Trump savannah trying to pin him down okay that i was gonna say i learned nothing new in this talk or debate between savannah and trump. You know he didnt know when he took a covid negative test, you know he didnt know a lot of things. The one thing that i learned was that 400 Million Dollars is a pina that was the quote when take a look take a list that subpoena. 400 Million Dollars compared to the ashes that i have all of these Great Properties all over the world and frankly. A bank of america building in San Francisco. I dont love whats happening just i want to say things number one its a very small amount of money. Number 2, its very strange, its just very very strange, but its this tiny percentage of the did you have any of the expression under leverage, yeah, im extremely and are left here. Okay have never heard under levered, but ive heard under leverage. And then he went on to say michael that. He actually some of these loans he took as a favor to the banks like they want him brave or just take the money. They needed to get rid of the money, i know right doc. The New York Times probably had the best analysis of what was going on in the trump finances because they could took to take a look at the whole picture. Trump and on the one hand is talking about the report of assets that are required to file which is fine, but it doesnt show the liabilities and the tax returns tell the whole tale and thats where i think hes trying to go one to talk one way and and miss tricky one the other, but you know again. The point of this was does it did this move the needle. I think for either candidate. You saw joe biden basically plane. A little defense im a little concerned that that keep the plane to which prevent defense, but you know there you go. Trump by and knows hes down. He knows hes down in a lot of lot of states and yes go and try and get back to voters who are with them but his strategy seems to be only increase the turnout of the people who knows are with him where each maybe a good strategy in a static election, not so good when more turnout is going to be higher overall. Found it interesting you know when joe biden was posed the question well what what would happen then if donald trump does win what do you think that would say about you or the country have what thought would you havent heres how he answered. Vice president if you lose what will that say to you about where america is today. I could say im a lousy candidate. I didnt do a good job. But i think it doesnt say that we are. Racially ethnically and. The president wants us to be. And that kind of brings full circle to why he says he got in the race in the first place was to try and unified he says his thought would be that hopefully are divisions are as wide as that outcome would suggest. I mean it was is actually interesting i think of rather candid moment. A reflection which. We really dont see much in politicians and certainly not from from President Trump. I think you just sort of some not going to im not going to lose weight even talking about that you know you talk about going back and being a College Professor but you know this is something about it. Again this is about trying to just draw that these 2 campaigns are trying to draw despair 30 against each other joe biden is again is about returning us to normalcy bring unity and healing. Donald trump is about the fact that im the only one who can protect you from all the really horrible people out there like and to find whatever so. Thats thats there are those of their closing arguments. I think joes quite frankly is a better closing argument. But trump thinks he knows what hes doing so well see what happens in the next 18 days, yeah, i mean he did come off trump did because again james watched by now. That he was which is something relax and he was friendly any talk to people whether or not answer their question. He gave you know his hard line and stuck to it and. So i think he thinks you know its a win. Well i mean this is a good i think what you saw last night is going to be a good preview. For what i think is going to be a total debacle next week which is the last president ial debate and i think trump is going to be super hyper aggressive. Biden is going to be there trying to be calm and were going to see how much of this is interrupted again because its the same ladee format as the first one wow so. Here we go you think trumps going to do that again knowing how the polls reacted the first time after the first debate. I think he i think he thought he won he thought he did a good job. You thought thats what his supporters wanted to see. And if he is still 10 points down. In the 7 days. I think youre i think its going to be it could be what we saw. In the first debate times 5 or 6 y you know again were turning the volume up to 11 on this on and because he hes going to need to do something to try and throw joe biden off and and they they keep on working on. They keep on hoping for what they call it a biden moment and not quite sure what that is. But its its something where biden starts to player go off the rails see something Say Something crazy and theyre stretching the first debate was keep on interrupting him throwing things at and see what happens now, they know now trump did not bring up hunter biden in his town hall last night. It week i will be very surprised that isnt among the first things that he starts going after joe biden with. In next week because he knows that gets under joe biden case more mustsee tv and well talk to proposition 16 takes on discrimination. Some women make as little as 42 of what a man makes. You can see clear skies across timber on right here nice little blow out there towards the coast. Definitely no presents a marine layer as a continuation of these offshore winds pushes the any ocean cool there well away from our region thats hot dry and windy still this morning. Sonoma calistoga vacaville danville conquered and Half Moon Bay have been among our most consistently, windy spots so far this morning and will remain that way on into the later part of your morning now afternoon. Things do start to calm down not enough just yet that were out of the woods as far as are heightened fire danger goes. Winds come down further tomorrow and temperatures just a little bit cooler too that will be enough for at least red flag warnings to not be in effect tomorrow, but they were extended from 11 00am initially ending today now towards 06 00pm tonight so another day with our heightened fire danger for sure. Heat advisories towards the coast and the bay as daytime highs wont just be hot for inland areas, but also closer to the water Golden Gate Park as well sunset district mid 80s today. Well, San Francisco and mission looking at 90s 70s and only one spot on the peninsula on tara well 80s elsewhere at the coast and 90s return for bayside cities foster city at 94 Mountain View at 97 mid 90s for most of the south bay, but a couple of upper 90s in there and for the east bay solid 90s well, union city at 91 even berkeley working our way back up to 90 today. Walnut creek and concord very close to triple digits at 99 while sonoma right at 100 degrees. So heres the good news ahead of us after red flag warnings today tomorrow, less hot certainly a lot less windy sunday. All right over to the bay bridge. Its pretty packed into San Francisco right now i dont see any trouble spots on the bridge. But some heavy traffic years filling almost back to the bottom of the mazes are second wave of slowing heading into San Francisco this morning, but the rest of the bay area hot spot free and quiet the east shore freeway almost at 20 minutes, heading west from crockett coming up in the next hour while pg and e has started restoring power to some bay area neighborhoods, thousands are still waking up with no electricity or live in the north bay with the latest on the story. Plus the good news blocking the lemur that went missing from the San Francisco zoo has been found well tell you where it was spotted and how they got back home.
