They went over the president s treatment how he felt after his diagnosis. It is progress today, President Trump saying that he feels good and strong after feeling not strong and low energy with a bit of congestion in his lungs which he felt was in very president ial part of his treatment including regeneron which is a transfusion. Well he called that a miraculous medicine and hes ready to share these healing methods that hes experienced for free for all americans. If youre really good, i feel very strong i know a lot of people that have had the covid or the china virus is i call it because it came from china. But i feel really really strong and a lot of people dont feel that way sometimes for a while afterwards but a very good and the doctors at walter reed were incredible they came from Johns Hopkins they came from everywhere its good to be president i guess, but and they were really great people id like to send it to everybody in fact ive said im going to send it to everybody. Thats got the problem and were going to send it free of charge. So the president took this time to defend a drive that he took around Walter Reed Medical Center in a car filled with security personnel as he waved at supporters said drew some controversy he explained that he thought it would be disrespectful to leave. Doctor we we really appreciate having you all on this is i good news you watch the president on air evaluation tonight. Your observations. I think you look pretty good. You know it you cant emphasize enough how difficult is how bad his prognosis was. A week he had a reasonable chance of having a very severe. And even infection and to see him 8 days out. Seem to be breathing comfortably is mental status seem to be back to his base line and you know hes not out of the woods. Hes got probably another week before youre confident that he wanted to read, looked about as good as he could look 8 days into the diagnosis. He obviously had treatment that normal folks dont get is there a concern in your mind that. Maybe President Trump supporters are going to see how quickly. And effectively he recovered and yeah they hear him say dont be afraid of covid dont let it dominate your life are you concerned that some of his supporters. Might i want to say maybe let your guard down but might fall victim to the coronavirus because of this incident. Yeah i would have hoped that he would have used this is teachable moment too let people know that this is serious stuff and if you dont Pay Attention to guidelines. You can get infected and whether it was the medicines that he got or just got lucky is impossible to but he did get lucky. He could have he could have died when he first got the infection he probably had a 5, 7 , chance of dying. We got sick enough to go to the hospital probably had a close to a 20 chance of dying. And so that meant he had better than even chance of making it its terrific for him, but if people take away the message. This is no big deal you dont have to be careful that is the wrong message. There are 30 or so other people who have been infected from a super spreader event and im pretty sure given the way the odds are that we will start hearing about other people who have much your forces. Then he has had it so i think there will be examples of of other people who. Make clear how how dangerous it still can be. Speaking of a super spreader event it sounds its a go for tomorrow, the president is planning to hold an event at the white house which is i think its safe to say its still considered a hot spot. Yeah, its still is there are you know so many recent infection is running around that building. He should still be quarantine he should still be isolated from other people with only people who have an absolute need to be in the same space is him doing that and people wearing full protective equipment when they see him use is not far enough to to be noninfectious are to be sure these noninfectious now to be you know completely honest if he is doing something where he seeing someone at a very far distance and hes outside. Its probably pretty safe and its probably no risk to him it really is a question. The risk to other people, but it would be better and certainly would be setting a better example if you continue to be isolated from other people but that obviously is not his way. Treatments he was given regeneron is the company that makes antibody cocktail seems to be the one it certainly the one the president is pointing to and some medical professionals seem to concur that that may have been key in his recovery, we know about antibody cocktail, how where it comes from theres been talk about embryos in stem cells and and what is your understanding of of that treatment and and how quickly it may be able to be scaled up to help a lot of people. Clinical research if we made decisions about which drugs to give because we gave a patient one patient one drug. And the patients got better and we sat there for everybody should be getting it well be making a lot of really really terrible decision so the fact that he did well maybe thats something to do with the drug the drug is looking promising in some early studies probably not a game changer. But certainly promising i suspect it will be proven to be effective and will ultimately there be approved by the fda to extrapolate that this was the drug in this was a miracle cure which he seems to have done thats just a thats an error in thinking. Its a its concentrated amount of 2 different antibodies, one of them does appear to be derived from fetal tissue, which of course is interesting given the politics of that theres another drug made by a Different Company lily that seems to be just as promising. And well you know he got 3 different drugs 2 of them have been proven to be effective and at the viral drug called remdesivir year a steroid drug called but as i said you know when he first got infected, we first got the diagnosis yet a 95 chance of doing well and recovering so the fact that he did well and recovered is is good news in may have had something to do with the drug but may just be that that was his good luck, i wouldnt i wouldnt go too going to the moon with a struggle, you its worth recalling that he had other miracle drugs that hes been touting over the last 6 to 8 months hydroxychloroquinn which has been proven to be not affect in fact a little bit dangerous convalescent plasma the jury is still out on. Of course he was touting the possibility of using bleach and all sorts of ways as potentially another miracle we have to be careful is not a scientist he doesnt think the way scientists think maybe the dribble turn out to be effective. I think it is promising, but its too too soon to set to tell for sure well the president today said hes off the drugs now today is his first day so i wait and see and see how he holds up.
