And you can take a look at the numbers here more land was burned this morning the updated this by about 18,000 acres, its grown to 48,440 acres now 2 containment. As you can see the fire has destroyed 80 structures in nap and sonoma counties and there are still. 22,000 threatened. That is why were keeping our eye on not only the already evacuated areas but. The new areas that theyre concerned about fact weve got a map here that can help illustrate portions of sonoma napa county impacted were talking about 70,000 residents forced from their homes because of those red dots you see on the screen. The latest hot spots from these fires. Santa rosa actually catching a bit of a break this morning. The wind has changed direction so its blowing all the activity away from city limits which is good news, however, that doesnt mean you can come back yet. We have people who live in northeast. Bennett valley oakmont stoneridge kenwood communities down to the valley of the moon just above glen allen, none of those folks can get back just yet mandatory Evacuation Order still in effect. And we also have them in napa county too. In fact the next map were going to show you here has the mandatory evacuation zones in blue. There are some new orders to tell you about this morning and they include areas from state route 29 and highway one 28 foothill boulevard to the county line between Diamond Mountain and Petrified Forest road. That includes the town of angland and areas around Robert Louis Stevenson state park. All the way down to the southern shoreline of lake hennessy and then south and west of highway one 28. As well as on the north side to north of calistoga but by the fairgrounds near Greenwood Avenue theres a section north of Petrified Forest, however, that has been downgraded to an evacuation warning. And that is shown in yellow which you can see there and then theres that other section of yellow to the top thats a warning for the Chalk Mountain area, lets check in with our reporters in and start our Team Coverage now for this hour, lets take a look at the map where will tran is right now hes in the 4500 block. Know that they were hot spots every now and then huge balls of would go up in the air but right now its still burning im sure but its being mask because of this wall of smoke here. The longest person who has not been home has been for about 10 days since september 20th because they keep running from fire to fire and it is obviously far from over as it looks like theyre getting ready to mobilize back to you. Well here in the bay area just not looking so great today nor tomorrow as spare the air alerts remain through friday, future cast of wind gust show you that we do have this onshore push of air tomorrow that really kicks into gear even more so winds from the northwest really pushing into the north bay with this is going to do is results in heightened fire danger up in the north bay. In addition to the heat advisories in orange that were going to have all across the bay area. So lets start with those heat advisories. You can see that tanisha orange color all across the bay. Tomorrow daytime highs will run 15 to 25 degrees above seasonal averages. And thats where the heat advisories come in these red areas just updated moments ago to now red flag warnings up in the north bay as we do see increased winds and of course hotter temperatures that ups your risk of rapid spreading wildfire in the north bay so no crews today are really trying to get the upper hand on the glass fire head of that. Todays highs will be in the 60s and 70s near the coastline. Well it will be 80s and 90s elsewhere in the bay, another toasty one but not as hot as tomorrow will be youll notice daytime highs tomorrow, a few degrees warmer than today that will make us back into the triple digits for areas like livermore danville in walnut creek which are Still Holding on to 90s today. Vacaville and Fairfield Beach at a 100 degrees for your highs today, while 90s for most of our north bay cities. Tomorrow, i mentioned our hottest one of the forecast, those heat advisories and red flag warnings taking Effect Tomorrow and then after that some really finally daytime highs in the 80 come the weekend with 70s by the bay. A little bit closer to the metering lights this would be the 3rd crash that weve had this morning. Its a car or a truck theyre moving off to the shoulder, but we have injuries so fire crews are heading out to the scene right now on the oakland side behind the pay gates doesnt look too bad, but even when you have a little bit of activity folks start to slow down and rubber neck, so ill be watching that 10 minutes for now into San Francisco 92 looks really good. It has thinned out nicely 13 minutes to the peninsula. And this really quick peak at some freeways, the east shore freeways doing fine. And you can see so many homes have been damaged or destroyed by the flames, this is off the highway 29 Greenwood Avenue in calistoga and this is the same story in so many neighborhoods as you can see 48,440 acres have burned thats a new number this morning. So that number went up by almost 20,000 acres, but containment has not still 2 right now. Theres a little bit of a home standing there but as you can many homes have burned out 80 homes and other buildings a nap and sonoma counties and then there are more than 22,000 structures still threatened which is why were watching so where the fires are moving an evacuation zones. In fact, heres a map both napa and sonoma counties and the fire thats impacting both of them roughly 70,000 residents forced from their homes santa rosa thankfully, catching a bit of a break this morning as the winds now blowing. The fire away from the citys borders, however that doesnt mean you can get back in people who are evacuated out of the northeast Bennett Valley area oakmont stone bridge can would all the communities down. To the valley of the moon just above glendale and cannot come back just yet its not safe. And on the napa county side of all of this we have their map as well, the blue areas are their mandatory evacuation zones. Now there are some new Evacuation Orders there to tell you about and they include communities. Shes in the 5,000 block of Mountain Hawk drive right now near sky hawk park looking at the damage there and what you see. Well you know well start with the that are still actively working to put out hot spots this fire fight is far from over in right here to my right. You can see houses laid out devastated the fire started up the block here to continue to jump from house to house to house to house you see the upper story that whole demolished there. But also been talking to residents to live in this area, everybody has a compelling story about what they went july of an old line crossed that he was in the area. He loves. Sunday at midnight, i mean the fire. Was really close by then what did you see ryan. That midnight and the fire was coming down the hill right over here by los alamos is also over here but across on the hill. Man whose is jumping down trees and it felt like you are under a waterfall fire was so loud and when a tree went up. Flames ago 300 feet in the air. And just incinerate within seconds and so but a bulldozer is coming across here, wiping trees to make a path. So fortunately there will save a lot of the homes over there. But when the fire came down this valley here and this jumped up a fence and came right up onto these porches and look at these houses is really sad to see come back here yesterday. Senator backing youre seeing your house is your neighbors. House not so much you know youre also telling me that the house that we are next to right now. The neighbors here they just to tell us that story right so his family a very nice family just moved in here about a month ago. And the family that was here move 10 houses up the street here on the same side and looks like their house pretty much completely survived. So its very ironic story but very yeah. You know for you be back scene. You know the devastation that came through seen that your neighbors lost their home in. You know thankfully, we dont know lives have been lost so far in this area in the kind of what are your thoughts, you know knowing that it was so close to your house. Right it and it was very and very nerve i was up all night the next night or on sunday night and can pretty much out to sleep. Just wondering if my house had survived or not. My homer and i actually on the corner here. A fire his 2 friends on the Fire Department and we were what and down. Our house a neighbors houses all up until midnight 3 hours straight and what water down trees so catch on fire. And that that could have saved many of these houses not sure if it did or not but while it it was a like a movie so it was. Now you mentioned you wanted to Say Something to the firefighters may be that were watching that are still working today. Yeah, thank you so you guys are literally the floor if you guys this neighborhood probably wouldnt be standing here so this thank you guys so much i was talking a crew up there and theyve been working for 36 hours straight. Hes still got to make sure they get all of the hot spots that are still popping up because there are a lot. The last several years weve seen texas firefighters here in california the last several years. Our firefighters have went to texas during hurricanes to assist when they needed help so. It truly is a a partnership between the states and as it is right now california needs the help that is more help arrives. Other help prepares to go this is day number. 19 or 20 were on creek had to think about that for a minute because we were all over the place this tired group spent 14 days on the front line where working 24 on 24 also i mean the drain is there for sure which makes the partnership with southwest that much sweeter all of us are and some kind of profession to help each other and thats what southwest is dealing with us helping us get back home and bring in workers in the help california fight these fires what began as a heros welcome ends in a heros sendoff.
