Well a lot of us back into the 90s like in san jose, ive got the rest of your forecast. Still ahead robin. Thank you john were checking back in on the bay bridge. The traffic is still a little sluggish into San Francisco. Its recovering from 2 earlier crashes, they were minor crashes. But traffic just never completely recovered so if youre heading into San Francisco this morning. Get out there a little early its logo from west grand and youre averaging 40 minutes which is not bad. But its crowded another pocket of slowing coming off the bridge to fremont street. And then another stretch on the northbound central the whole northbound central and San Franciscos pretty tight as well, heres a crash. Clearing in the maze 5 80 west at the 9 8024 splint that was blocking several lanes so its looking much better about a halfmile slowing at the scene and then your other approaches to the oakland maze they look great 24 the nimitz and the east shore all nice and quiet so far daria. Thank you robin, its 9 02. Lets get back to the breaking news which other wildfires in napa and sonoma counties you can see. Whats left of some neighborhoods homes toward just demolished. Look at whats left here this is highway 29 on Greenwood Avenue in calistoga so many structures have been burned. And you can take a look at the numbers here more land was burned this morning the updated this by about 18,000 acres, its grown to 48,440 acres now 2 containment. As you can see the fire has destroyed 80 structures in nap and sonoma counties and there are still. 22,000 threatened. That is why were keeping our eye on not only the already evacuated areas but. The new areas that theyre concerned about fact weve got a map here that can help illustrate portions of sonoma napa county impacted were talking about 70,000 residents forced from their homes because of those red dots you see on the screen. The latest hot spots from these fires. Santa rosa actually catching a bit of a break this morning. The wind has changed direction so its blowing all the activity away from city limits which is good news, however, that doesnt mean you can come back yet. We have people who live in northeast. Bennett valley oakmont stoneridge kenwood communities down to the valley of the moon just above glen allen, none of those folks can get back just yet mandatory Evacuation Order still in effect. And we also have them in napa county too. In fact the next map were going to show you here has the mandatory evacuation zones in blue. There are some new orders to tell you about this morning and they include areas from state route 29 and highway one 28 foothill boulevard to the county line between Diamond Mountain and Petrified Forest road. That includes the town of angland and areas around Robert Louis Stevenson state park. All the way down to the southern shoreline of lake hennessy and then south and west of highway one 28. As well as on the north side to north of calistoga but by the fairgrounds near Greenwood Avenue theres a section north of Petrified Forest, however, that has been downgraded to an evacuation warning. And that is shown in yellow which you can see there and then theres that other section of yellow to the top thats a warning for the Chalk Mountain area, lets check in with our reporters in and start our Team Coverage now for this hour, lets take a look at the map where will tran is right now hes in the 4500 block. Of silverado trail and calistoga taking a look even showing us a lot of different perspectives on the fire and how its growing and what theyre up against today will see right now. The area this is turning into a mini command center you can see all those firefighters right behind me this is an silverado trail lane where there are many you can see those are firefighters right there right next to our a crime for a vehicle you can see them gather around above them charred hills just like this one that burned over the past day or so they had to put it out. In fact just a few minutes ago they had to go in there and chopped down some trees just in case. They had to go in there a little bit later and they want those trees to fall on top of the firefighters. You can clearly see just how many firefighters or at this location. Theyve been watching very closely this hillside here. I cant go any further than this location, but trust me this is a winery among many other wineries in this area and overnight. If you watched from for you. Know that they were hot spots every now and then huge balls of would go up in the air but right now its still burning im sure but its being mask because of this wall of smoke here. Let me show you some video that we got late last night and into the overnight hours this one of many locations in Calistoga Napa all they saw the areas around this place still burning at this time we got an update from calfire and it went up several 1000 acres in the overnight hours and about 12,000 acres james darya just from yesterday at this time so this is far from over. I even asked the firefighters are you going to leave this area meeting when are you going to go up to the fire. But they took it as when are we going home and they said. I dont know we dont know so they took the question a little bit differently goes to show you however, though that this is a long fight and just to show you some humanity behind all of this they dont know when they will be home and many of those firefighters changed area. They say they havent been home among this group here. The longest person who has not been home has been for about 10 days since september 20th because they keep running from fire to fire and it is obviously far from over as it looks like theyre getting ready to mobilize back to you. All right, thank you very much well, yeah that stuff a long road. 2 contained, you know were looking at a long fire fight to come a lot of steep terrain take a look at some new video thats come into the newsroom this morning again our photojournalist yulia sevice has been out and about giving us a perspective of whats been happening behind these evacuation lines and you can see a number of wineries this one the fair wins the state winery damaged partially destroyed by the fires up in calistoga this on silverado trail and they out of property charred some of the buildings collapsed into rubble you can see there when it comes to what we know about the winery so far, heres a list of what has been confirmed damaged or destroyed. Weve got to bring her family winery chateau boswell burgess sellers can still down the rosa. And the video that you saw there for nearly 7 is the fair winds state winery again some level of damage or destruction of these wineries that theyll have to rebuild from. Also its good napa county and see some of the areas that have been burned out an Elementary School had been there for 9 since 19 02. For all those years and now look its reduced to rubble, most of it the foothill adventists Elementary School has been destroyed the sign still outfront but much of the school is gone he shattered the windows. Many classrooms were severely damaged to say the least. Lot of destruction which is from what ive seen i was here on sunday. Even sunday night as the just on this next ridge and then somehow it was you know, its so hot and so windy that the numbers filed last night and i and say this home out last month burned 20 thats. Work crews are showing up now theyre starting to clean up and try to sift through. You know damage to see if theres even infrastructure standing that they could then we build upon theyre all kinds of broken pieces that are dangerous their trees theyve got to move out of the way as well stick around all morning. Long for our coverage as we continue up until 10 oclock on the kron 4 morning news and then dont forget kron on is 24 7. We also update our website at kron 4 dot com for the latest. Lets switch gears here almost 09 10am in the morning and talk more about San Francisco and the fact that restaurants will soon be able to reopen Indoor Service places of worship. Well also be able to the same thing the question is always. What is you know your guide post do you want to go its your own comfortable level conversar stunned us live in San Francisco. Sarah simpson and i can see the outdoor areas, im comfortable out there i have to say i have gone inside yet. Well we havent been allowed to go inside and San Francisco until today, but here live and hes valley people say theyve enjoyed this sitting outside with their friends you enjoying a meal outdoors but the weather has been nice and it could get worse, so theyre thinking still though id rather stay outdoors thats what im hearing so far Indoor Dining and places of worship can now reopen at 25 capacity or up to 100 people starting today. Its a big move for San Francisco, each restaurant needs to follow strict safety guidelines of course very similar to the Outdoor Dining face coverings are to be worn by staff and customers at all times unless they are drinking or eating you have to wear it while ordering while waiting to order any time staff is helping you at your table restaurants are encouraged to use a survation systems to ensure capacity levels as for places of worship they can reopen indoors with up to 100 people but they can continue outdoors with up to 200 people as long as people can social distance it now talk to people here in hayes valley about this further reopening and as i said many people telling me theyre not quite comfortable taking it indoors. Say eating out those it just seems like a more responsible well ken and the weather is still not too im enjoying it any better ventilation im still not about the wedding of his park with either. If the seeds are good 10 feet away from each other im okay with it but then i thought of waiting right a call and i go to parks or. It was some sort of open area. And you know that man also pointed out that most of these people we see eating yeah and these outdoor seating areas we see them with people they dont live with which is not a good idea youre supposed to stay with people you live with and he said its concerning that people who dont live together sit in close quarters together during a time where its just not safe to do so so not only see not very humble outdoors not very comes will endorse again its all up to your own compass how you feel is what you should operate with but ellyse restaurants have more options now and that means maybe they can make a bit more money, its been a very difficult couple months for them here in San Francisco for now reporting live in San Francisco send it back to you in the newsroom, okay, thanks sarah. That we all need after this is one little peak thats the sales force our Everything Else is just shrouded, but hey if youre at the top of the sales force hes like the only one this morning well to church our obviously doing all right too. But yes, it is a mix of some cloud cover and unfortunately some wildfire smoke up in the north bay, especially as we have seen at least favorable conditions overnight as far as fire growth goes, its been calm humidity has been a bit higher, its also been a lot cooler. The unfortunate thing about all the cloud cover youve got his visibility is lower for those doing those Fire Fighting efforts but good news as far as the forecast goes this morning we are seeing a lot of smoke up in the north bay, the most of it right around the vicinity of the glass fire and then a lot of its that settled down into the east bay and now even portions of the bay side of the peninsula too air quality not going to be at its best today nor for the rest of the week we will see some northwesterly winds pushing in into the bay, especially tomorrow, this is going to push a lot of wildfire smoke from today into tomorrow up into the northern part of the state so the further south you get generally the air quality will be better. Well here in the bay area just not looking so great today nor tomorrow as spare the air alerts remain through friday, future cast of wind gust show you that we do have this onshore push of air tomorrow that really kicks into gear even more so winds from the northwest really pushing into the north bay with this is going to do is results in heightened fire danger up in the north bay. In addition to the heat advisories in orange that were going to have all across the bay area. So lets start with those heat advisories. You can see that tanisha orange color all across the bay. Tomorrow daytime highs will run 15 to 25 degrees above seasonal averages. And thats where the heat advisories come in these red areas just updated moments ago to now red flag warnings up in the north bay as we do see increased winds and of course hotter temperatures that ups your risk of rapid spreading wildfire in the north bay so no crews today are really trying to get the upper hand on the glass fire head of that. Todays highs will be in the 60s and 70s near the coastline. Well it will be 80s and 90s elsewhere in the bay, another toasty one but not as hot as tomorrow will be youll notice daytime highs tomorrow, a few degrees warmer than today that will make us back into the triple digits for areas like livermore danville in walnut creek which are Still Holding on to 90s today. Vacaville and Fairfield Beach at a 100 degrees for your highs today, while 90s for most of our north bay cities. Tomorrow, i mentioned our hottest one of the forecast, those heat advisories and red flag warnings taking Effect Tomorrow and then after that some really finally daytime highs in the 80 come the weekend with 70s by the bay. Robin and we do want some relief from the heat. Thank you john off to golden gate bridge. We need some relief from the fog right now that dense fog advisory still in place for those of you using one o one this morning, its going to be a little foggy for you so dont forget the headlights and wipers 20 minutes nevado to the toll plaza check this out great news heading into San Francisco. Rob black morning rob. Morning james all right, lets start up first thing on your list is a loser coronavirus. Really hitting. The jobless and looks like what disney leading the way in Terms Companies announcing layoffs. Yes wall streets doing well today because theres bad news out there which we need more stimulus bad news like you were alluding to is disney cutting 28,000 workers telling you were not back to normal were not going were not going disney world in any great number start cutting a lot of parttime positions. But add that dow cutting 6 person or workforce, Royal Dutch Petroleum cutting 6,000 plus employees United Airlines and American Airlines expected to announce 30,000 job cuts tomorrow, its the bad news is part 2 of the economic Covid Recovery opening back up. Its its kicking off with job cuts that should lead to a Congress Working together with the president to get the stimulus plan now. Thats the hope anyway. All right. Its tough theyve been trying to reopen their park son out of here. So many people are going to be losing their jobs and just the reality of the time were in right now is this how this is i mean obviously this hurts the recovery. Yet we still see numbers on wall street doing great but here where the rubber meets the road where people its still tough. Exactly and the easy part was the first 50 of the jobs came back. Getting those last youre talking to the 10 Million People in employment down 45 thats a very difficult and the industries are struggling hotel and leisure, airlines park and recreation things where we leave our home and then you see a big fuel company like a Royal Dutch Shell announce job cuts john youre were not consuming airline fuel or not gasoline right were really not opening back up as fast now. All right lets talk about something a little bit in terms of Home Ownership if youre looking to sell your home i guess home sales are at record highs that mean home prices are starting to go up to or house is playing out. Again i think its a covid thing there we sat down in march april may. Tiny homes very very tough while very very tough to see home now what were seeing is a jump of 24. 2 yearoveryear ive never seen a number like that and ive been doing this since 2000 set some pretty great number a Mortgage Rates are definitely helping but also i think covid relocation and not i mean were work and finding a second home or home away from the big city is a dominant trend here so again for those who own a home is great news for those who dont own a home and renters this is horrible news. Theres not a lot of supply and theres a lot of the band or record low Mortgage Rates really miss with like gasoline on a fire which careful say that and then lastly real quick as were just about out of time, but the cdc now putting the chi bosh on black friday sale saying that is a way dangerous thing to be engaged in this year. Right and i only bring this up because i needed a 3rd story and retail a struggling to tyson jobless numbers that we started with. It all ties back and gather its not going to be great christmas a lot of online sales. The cdc says black friday, bad theyre theyre saying online shops is good it which i think is life thats that the reality its weird Holiday Season and it will spread around the well see how it all plays out rob, thank you as always. Good beer, you bet, and dont forget you can reach out to rob asking a question connect with them Facebook Twitter email and directly or connect with and through our website at kron 4 dot com. garage door opening it is my fathers love. Worst of air quality is of course right around the glass fire them, better air quality towards the coast as we have seen some nice cool air sweeping into the bay keeping things a little bit cleaner hours for the coastal areas. But of course the worst impact right now napa and eastern Sonoma County seeing some pretty poor air quality to kick the stay off right now temperatures are cool winds are calm thats good news for firefighting efforts in the north bay. Temperatures are definitely cool enough this morning to throw jacket if youll be outside for more than just a couple of minutes later today who need for that jacket will be in the 90s inland 80s by the day and 70s near the coastline. Robin thank you john im just getting word of a new crash near the bay bridge toll plaza, but this is westbound 80. A little bit closer to the metering lights this would be the 3rd crash that weve had this morning. Its a car or a truck theyre moving off to the shoulder, but we have injuries so fire crews are heading out to the scene right now on the oakland side behind the pay gates doesnt look too bad, but even when you have a little bit of activity folks start to slow down and rubber neck, so ill be watching that 10 minutes for now into San Francisco 92 looks really good. It has thinned out nicely 13 minutes to the peninsula. And this really quick peak at some freeways, the east shore freeways doing fine. No problems on 6 ad from the dublin interchange the fremont and even the south bay is nice and quiet and hot spot free 8 minutes for the guadalupe parkway from 85 to one o one back to you. Thanks robin is 9. 32 and back to the breaking news, the fires in napa and sonoma counties. Burning out of control burning through neighborhoods. And you can see so many homes have been damaged or destroyed by the flames, this is off the highway 29 Greenwood Avenue in calistoga and this is the same story in so many neighborhoods as you can see 48,440 acres have burned thats a new number this morning. So that number went up by almost 20,000 acres, but containment has not still 2 right now. Theres a little bit of a home standing there but as you can many homes have burned out 80 homes and other buildings a nap and sonoma counties and then there are more than 22,000 structures still threatened which is why were watching so where the fires are moving an evacuation zones. In fact, heres a map both napa and sonoma counties and the fire thats impacting both of them roughly 70,000 residents forced from their homes santa rosa thankfully, catching a bit of a break this morning as the winds now blowing. The fire away from the citys borders, however that doesnt mean you can get back in people who are evacuated out of the northeast Bennett Valley area oakmont stone bridge can would all the communities down. To the valley of the moon just above glendale and cannot come back just yet its not safe. And on the napa county side of all of this we have their map as well, the blue areas are their mandatory evacuation zones. Now there are some new Evacuation Orders there to tell you about and they include communities. From state route 29 and highway one 28 at foothill boulevard all the way to the county line between Diamond Mountain and Petrified Forest road and that includes angland and areas around Robert Louis Stevenson state park all the way down to the southern shoreline of Lake Hennessey and south and west of highway one 28 as well as north calistoga at the fairgrounds up by a Greenwood Avenue. There is a section just north of Petrified Forest road that has been downgraded to an evacuation warning and thats that little bit that you see in yellow on the left side of the area and then at the top 2. We have a warning area in the Chalk Mountain area thats been designated evacuation weve got our team of reporters that are out in those evacuation zones able to see you know what was burned was Still Standing which has been a huge help. For all those folks who are out of their homes still waiting to go back and reyna harvey is out this morning. Shes in the 5,000 block of Mountain Hawk drive right now near sky hawk park looking at the damage there and what you see. Well you know well start with the that are still actively working to put out hot spots this fire fight is far from over in right here to my right. You can see houses laid out devastated the fire started up the block here to continue to jump from house to house to house to house you see the upper story that whole demolished there. But also been talking to residents to live in this area, everybody has a compelling story about what they went july of an old line crossed that he was in the area. He loves. Sunday at midnight, i mean the fire. Was really close by then what did you see ryan. That midnight and the fire was coming down the hill right over here by los alamos is also over here but across on the hill. Man whose is jumping down trees and it felt like you are under a waterfall fire was so loud and when a tree went up. Flames ago 300 feet in the air. And just incinerate within seconds and so but a bulldozer is coming across here, wiping trees to make a path. So fortunately there will save a lot of the homes over there. But when the fire came down this valley here and this jumped up a fence and came right up onto these porches and look at these houses is really sad to see come back here yesterday. Senator backing youre seeing your house is your neighbors. House not so much you know youre also telling me that the house that we are next to right now. The neighbors here they just to tell us that story right so his family a very nice family just moved in here about a month ago. And the family that was here move 10 houses up the street here on the same side and looks like their house pretty much completely survived. So its very ironic story but very yeah. You know for you be back scene. You know the devastation that came through seen that your neighbors lost their home in. You know thankfully, we dont know lives have been lost so far in this area in the kind of what are your thoughts, you know knowing that it was so close to your house. Right it and it was very and very nerve i was up all night the next night or on sunday night and can pretty much out to sleep. Just wondering if my house had survived or not. My homer and i actually on the corner here. A fire his 2 friends on the Fire Department and we were what and down. Our house a neighbors houses all up until midnight 3 hours straight and what water down trees so catch on fire. And that that could have saved many of these houses not sure if it did or not but while it it was a like a movie so it was. Now you mentioned you wanted to Say Something to the firefighters may be that were watching that are still working today. Yeah, thank you so you guys are literally the floor if you guys this neighborhood probably wouldnt be standing here so this thank you guys so much i was talking a crew up there and theyve been working for 36 hours straight. So i cant imagine what he has gone through and so i say thank you so much. Thank you so much yeah, thank you you sunday is when everything first originally. Started and as you can see from the 5 are still working behind me right there. Theyre still going to be out here. Still undetermined amount of time. Hes still got to make sure they get all of the hot spots that are still popping up because there are a lot. Still popping up and they dont want to fire reignite in this area so well be on this story again covering it from the ground talking to the families that are making their way back into this area. A lot of people just shocked to see that their home survive the other ones. Not here anymore darya and james will send it back to you both in the studio thank you there. So there thank you compelling interview, thank you. 9. 39 right now and and coming up after the break more than 300 out of state firefighters made their way to california helping to battle the blazes well take a look and were back time now 9. 42 more than 300 texas firefighters are in california right now to help fight the glass fire burning up in napa and sonoma counties with kay recede now with more on where theyre going and where theyre coming from. Sacramento International Airport lax its normal hustle and bustle. That is until this southwest flight from dallas arrived at the gate. It was pretty emotional moment, when you have a 165 firefighters that are willing to leave their families and come to california and help us in our time of reinforcements to help fight some of the largest wildfires in california history arriving to a heros welcome. All of us are in the service for reason we all come out help each other help between the 2 states that has been a familiar sight. The last several years weve seen texas firefighters here in california the last several years. Our firefighters have went to texas during hurricanes to assist when they needed help so. It truly is a a partnership between the states and as it is right now california needs the help that is more help arrives. Other help prepares to go this is day number. 19 or 20 were on creek had to think about that for a minute because we were all over the place this tired group spent 14 days on the front line where working 24 on 24 also i mean the drain is there for sure which makes the partnership with southwest that much sweeter all of us are and some kind of profession to help each other and thats what southwest is dealing with us helping us get back home and bring in workers in the help california fight these fires what began as a heros welcome ends in a heros sendoff. I think all of us, we dont consider ourselves heroes were here doing our job done and your calls for help and now were here in sacramento kay recede fox, 40 news. 9. 4 is the time right now and here is a live look at fog and i asked john right john just i always have to Check Another box. And those lee thought thats ok mostly at the bay bridge will be they do one of the most difficult jobs there is, even in normal times. Our Frontline Health care workers. And when these heroes lack the resources they need, that risky job gets ten times harder. Prop fifteen makes corporations pay their fair share. To invest in our communities, in our clinics, in the essential workers who treat everyone rich, poor, and inbetween. Whether its this pandemic or the next health crisis, vote yes on prop fifteen. For all of us. And were back time now 9. 47 californias Emergency Management leaders are asking for another major disaster declaration from President Trump to handle the devastating wildfires that weve seen. Emergency management leader and cal oh yes director mark builder ghilarducci says that this year is unlike any hes experienced before with dozens of major fires burning since august the office of Emergency Services has 20 other states have joined the firefight now through their out of state and federal mutual aid systems. But the pandemic has made it more difficult to bring in extra help. There were firefighters that could not respond because jurisdictions had firefighters that had covid positive availability of normal. Resources to maybe going support another jurisdiction, just wasnt there or in the event that removing resources like when we were working with the u. S. Forest service. We brought in the canadian. Crews from canada, they had to be quarantine prior to coming in that will has to be factored in to the process which which just adds to another level of complexity. Duci added that while the resources havent been met to the degree to state leaders would like to see the state is trying to balance that out accordingly. And its more important than ever obviously that you stay connected with kron 4 so if you havent already download our kron on app thats our 24 hour news streaming service. Providing you the very latest information as it develops and as information comes into our newsroom. So definitely check that out. Well guys its a mix of some smoke and also some fog out there across the bay this morning, one of our better spots as far as air quality goes and even as far as visibility goes this Half Moon Bay this morning look at beautiful sunshine reappearing out there, not something were seeing from most other spots in the bay and especially not for the north bay as smoke settles into the north bay making for.
