Theres a red flag warning so we have to watch out for more fires threats as we go through the weekend more bad air in the bay area and were looking at more damage the entire city of calistoga has been evacuated calistoga still okay but everybody had to get out your kron fours will tran has been driving around there for us this morning giving us boots on the ground, a first person perspective and will what are you seeing this morning. I see the flames are right behind the same house that ive been showing you since 5 oclock in the morning. We have a location the firefighters tell me this is tucker road off a highway 29 about a mile from calistoga so this is your home. It is fine for now they have dozens of firefighters and i just stepped out you can clearly see there your backyard. Right now theyre actually laying down some Fire Fighting fire with fire creating a line and how hunting is this james and darya theyre saying right now the fire is playing nice so theyre keeping a close eye on it theyre not spraying it at this time is actually according to them moving up the hill and not down the hill, but anything could possibly happen as he leaves all over the place. So theres so much material to burn that he can reach the home the back deck at this particular time yulia sevens and i just notice is how heartbreaking as this they obviously are not in the house at this time, but there are little kids toys rate here some scooters a razor there is obviously a family lives here but they have to race out of their home because of the fire. Me show you some video and some still pictures of just the fire thats been terrorizing sonoma and napa counties since sunday morning when the fire started off. Around couple of 100 acres and it exploded to thousands of acres and james darya use talk about the acreage at this time, 8500 homes threatened 8501 if you want to count this particular home everything is fine so far so good as far as they fatalities, nobody has died from this they have gotten unfortunately so much practice over the years that they knew to evacuate many other locations under an evacuation warning we showed you the sea of headlights just fleeing calistoga yesterday in fact not just calistoga but saint in fact we were able to track down one of the evacuees. Heres that that person talking about leaving their home. My house is a quarter mile up the road on how not road and the fire was about a 100 yards from her house. So right now were waiting and helping firefighters can. When the battle how you feel about all this right now. Terrible, mike sick to my stomach and. Just praying for and we are praying with you if you can head back out live right now you can see the firefighters a little hard to make silhouette of them 3 firefighters right there at that particular time trust me they are running around in the dark and they see the flames they will pull over and they will do their very best. The save the homes. There are no. Electricity is no electricity in this particular area that lines are down at this particular time. Plenty of dark is theyre using generators if they have to do that as well. So far so good as far as the wind to james and ari i want to show you this tree right in front of us look at that it almost looks like a still picture it is not swaying back and forth and that is good news for the firefighting efforts at this particular time. Embers are everywhere and i got to tell you breathing the smoky conditions 10 times worse than it was yesterday. I can promise you that back to you. Ok thank you very much well now lets go to one of the hardest hit areas by the fires and that has been in Sonoma County in Santa Rosa Oakmont that neighborhood. And in 2017 a lot of these homes burned down and a lot of people are wondering if they have something to go back to unfortunately we do know that a few of those properties have burned proper Sarah Stinson actually force our live for us there this morning. With the latest sarah. Driving along highway 12 you can see just mass destruction caused by these fires that roared through here sunday night into monday morning and one of the communities that was threatened here in santa rosa was the Oakmont Senior Living live here in front of one of the homes that has been destroyed you can see the charred garage behind me and just a lot of rubble and then if you keep handing over here when im writing us a little bit still very dark you can see only does brick pillars that remain a lot of destruction, however this house here is its obviously burned to the ground, however, the ones nearby here on meadow ridge drive are untouched so its wild to see that. Again this is the oakmont retirement communities about 5,000 residents that escape the flames while evacuating. Sunday night. And it was a scary moment, the these are all know older adults seniors as you if you will. And firefighters came in here and did everything they could to protect to this community and they were for the most part very successful driving along heroes. Kind of surprise and looked all over and we found one burned home, i know there are a few others that have been reportedly burned as well, but the firefighters did a tremendous job, i mean flames were encroaching this area from all angles and they were able to stop it from burning down the entire community which as weve seen has happened with the fires dating back to scene entire neighborhood just completely burned to the ground so this this one here only finding one so far here on meadow ridge and then theres a few others as well. I know a lot of people in this community they want to come home there they know that their house is Still Standing however i can tell you theyre still hot spots around here. So firefighters they are standing by literally theyre here and theyre trucks making sure that if a flame does erupt again will be of the put it out right away its they stop more homes from burning like this one reporting live in santa rosa Sarah Stinson kron 4 news all right, thanks a lot syria. It is good news that the homes are Still Standing but people still cant go back i was just reading is close to 70,000 people in Sonoma County now have already been evacuated wow okay that means weve got a lot of areas under Evacuation Orders and warnings we have Robin Winston keeping a close eye on that. And updating us now robin, yes, and those warnings can turn into orders. Thats why we want to go over the specific neighborhoods and let you know whats impacted. So this is the evacuation map thats actually for Sonoma County. Now you see little red dots there those reppert red dots represent the heat signature for the shady fire. And then the red orange area is the area thats under a mandatory Evacuation Order now those residents should already be gone and out of those neighborhoods. But we want to focus on the evacuation warning zones for residents who live still live there resuming in on Sonoma County want to show you the 3 different zones are going to start off with zone, one. The areas in zone, one youre surrounded by highway 12 and east of farmers lane now within that community you have homes near montgomery myatt avenue spring creek drive. Next we want zoom over to the lc zone thats the second one now within the elsies own you have the areas near Cypress Creek side and within that neighborhood so folks that are impacted will be folks that live near and cypress and lets see we also have sacramento avenue horseshoe avenue and beth 3rd strive you are within the warning zone and then we have 3 thats also impacted now that area is surrounded by to call the drive been valley road youre going to be impacted. So specifically were talking about those of you who live near bathurst strive parts of the thomas avenue and parts of warren drive once again were going over these evacuation warning so youll know exactly whos impacted. And once again if you live in these areas that are highlighted in yellow you should be packed up ready to go if that morning turns into an order thats why we want to keep you on top of it. And i believe now were actually going to move over to napa county are we going to do that yeah going to take care of napa county too because we have areas that are shaded in blue. See those little blue stretches there those areas are under mandatory Evacuation Orders and then we have the air years that are in the yellow those are warnings for now the county keep in mind that the entire town of calistoga is under a mandatory Evacuation Order meaning if you live or work in calistoga you should not be hanging around at this point they dont want anyone in those areas because its far too dangerous. And once again you should not be within those city limits the good news is they havent reported any significant damage within the town of calistoga but its really the surrounding area thats been damaged so far so well stay on top of these warnings will continue to zoom into the neighborhoods and let you know exactly whos impacted as we receive more information will definitely pass it on to you so you can be packed up and ready to go back to you all right, thank you very much robin and if you are leaving there are Evacuation Centers have been set up to take you in if you have nowhere else to go in napa and sonoma counties weve got the list here for you in napa county specifically evacuees can turn to the crossroads crosswalk church. And Napa Valley College in petaluma you can go to the Sonoma Marin Fair Grounds or the petaluma Veterans Building and then in Sonoma County you can go to the place to play. Thats in santa rosa or the sonoma raceway theyll theyll take you as well you can get more details on the Evacuation Orders and Evacuation Centers on our website at kron 4 dot com then theres all the bad air in the bay area from these fires where she looks like its going to be continuing. Weve got the warning. Be ready for bad air struve friday thats when the extended spare the air alert goes chill through friday. And this is giving you a live look through the north bay and thats where the spots are the worst the dark purple. Those are bad air quality that poor air quality means you should stay indoors. Dark red not too much better and then all you have to do is look up and because remember we had just been through a month of it so you can tell when theres bad air out there, ive got used to taken is that fog and these days, whenever i see a john figure that its bad air lets listen to what they have to say about what we should do. We can go outside and we cant you cant smell it and people dont realize that the body actually its used to smell can be also as well so and so people on line. You know what thats a good point because i must admit yesterday john it was a choice between opening the windows during the any smelling the smoke and just being boiling. So i had i it was a tough call. And then its so cool down last night that now weve got cooler air but still theyre worried about their look at what it looks like from above flowers at the smoke that were seeing john yeah so you see that smoke plume up there on that there in the north bay that was being pushed out offshore that was actually fog on the southern end of the math on and smoke i can what this morning that is fog right there thats pushing San Francisco most of us are under clear skies along the coastline, but there are some spots of fog in these are smoky spots and it really is the north bay and portions of the east bay that are looking at the worst of it that deep maroon purplish color that you are seeing. Up in napa portions of solano and sonoma counties thats the very worst of air quality settling down from the glass fire. Surrounding areas all across the north bay and even down into contra costa and portions of Alameda County looking at very unhealthy stuff to better in the south bay as well as along the coast of the peninsula, lets zoom in on the north because these are problem areas, winds overall are common from the coast. But it is kind of trapping that smoke right there into sonoma and napa its just been pushed down into these areas and its only going to spread across the rest of the bay for the rest of the week so were going to have a smoky impact for the next few days ahead of us not just today. Winds are significantly calmer in the vicinity of the glass fire, not the best news for smoke, but in all other aspects this is good news with calmer winds we do less drive conditions less hot of conditions and less potential for rapid spread of wildfires. Winds will remain calm through the day to hardly perceptible for most areas just a little bit of a coastal breeze that will be pushing in some fog and helping to keep humidity from getting his bone dry as it did yesterday, 50s and 60s for current temperatures, theres a little bit of fog at the coast and then some haze and smoke up in the north bay, especially but into the east bay too. Later on today, youll notice, daytime highs a little cooler than they have been only in the 80s and 90s today, no triple digits today and that is also a nice change daria. Thanks a lot john stick around all morning. Long our coverage of the wildfires continues will always give you the very latest on the Evacuation Order so when those warnings become orders we will tell you first. Weve got all the air quality and the maps that you need on our website at kron 4 dot com and always make sure they have that kron on app ready to go on your phone. All right quickly here at 6. 15 a look ahead at whats coming up obviously more continuing coverage on the fires in fact, heres a picture taken on Crystal Springs road at saint helene and you can see. If you cant afford your medicine, abbvie may be able to help. 17 and as we continue to cover the breaking news story about the fires we take a look at the vegetation and theres plenty more fuel and says sonoma napa counties said raising a lot of alarm its been so record as a matter of fact with kron fours. Rob fladeooe not reporting on that part of the story. In parts of the Santa Cruz Mountains and elsewhere across Northern California is a tinderbox theres all kinds of dead brush and grass, but even the still green or life ewells looked dead. Pine bough that should feel a little spongy feels more like sandpaper live fuel moisture levels are at an alltime low in some areas, jose state Fire Weather Research centers professor Craig Clements the fuel moisture content. Of these right now are our record low. And that has to do with the fact that we had this drought year i mean we had a low rain near this past winter and san jose states mobile weather lab is currently analyzing Data Collected from 2017 devastating tubbs fire. There are striking similarities. Wind heat topography and whats known as spotting where members are blowing down wind starting spot fires in the dried out and easily ignite abul brush and grass because of all the amount of poverty when you get this wind that blows. Perpendicular to the mountain ranges causes whats called downslope wind starting get real strong winds and very isolated locations and when that happens. You got really strong winds pushing these fire fronts its not just the north bay clemens and his team areas across the state. Many areas are seeing fuel moisture levels that would not normally be seen until well into october britain, the core of our fire season, you know october is usually the month where we have the lowest fuel moistures in the strongest winds in terms of offshore wind events. And so we get a couple more of these events its going to be a really challenging wallet. Fans, the flames, the wind and heat even in the absence of fire makes that fuel dry out that much faster in the Santa Cruz Mountains rob fladeboe kron 4 news. So its bad top to bottom, you know throughout the bay area, everybodys dry in. Everybodys waiting no more when i unfortunately looks like we may have some on the horizon but at least for now anyway were doing all right john yeah, so you know its fall this is when those wind events often do happen so definitely still that potential ahead of us. At least this past wind event seems to have eased up now and so we do have a bit of a breather ahead of us these next couple of days which is certainly welcome after yesterday a little bit of fog pushed into the east bay this morning a sign of ocean cool there that swept back through last night replacing the hot and dry offshore flow that was or wind event sunday night into monday and obviously resulted in the very fast spread of the glass place what we are seeing this morning is just the opposite cooler air from the ocean pushing inland. Very Welcome Change for the north bay, especially. Too many changes to count up in the north bay from yesterday morning napa year around 20 degrees cooler first of all were not looking at these hot dry winds rather its a wind thats just pushing in lightly from the coast. And that means humidity is also much less dry so these are positive changes for the glass incident, great to be talking about that this morning. Its our smoke goes thats the biggest downside. Unfortunately when you do have calmer winds smoke has an opportunity to settle down with us. Exactly what we are seeing this morning just a very light wind from the coast and thats enough to keep that smoke trapped into inland portions of sonoma and napa counties, especially worth air quality at its very worst up there. Portions of the coast on the peninsula and then into the south facing some of our better conditions east bay on the very pour end of the spectrum, definitely not the best day to be doing too much outside id avoid that really over the next few days a spare the air alerts will be in effect for much of the week. 60s and 70s for your highs and San Francisco today beats the 90s that we had admission and financial districts. Well 80s for most of our bayside areas temperatures are still warm, but they are a lot cooler than where we were for your monday. Yesterday was not just our hottest day. But also our windiest one so conditions definitely have improved as far as fire weather goes. Oakland 82 for your high wall conquered walnut creek in danville your 3 hottest of spots all our closest areas to the triple digits, but nowhere on the map quite getting up 200 degrees today. Tomorrow that changes we will see a couple of triple digits likely for inland areas. Thursday and friday we start to cool down yet again. And hey by the weekend or warmest of temperatures will only be in the upper 80s. So there is plenty relief ahead of us for the rest of the forecast. Daria. Thanks a lot 6. 22 right now and coming up next were going to continue looking at the damage done in the wildfires. This is sunday night in and the black rock insane alina as it went up in flames. It was located along the silverado trail and you can see theres nothing left of it now. And heres a quick look live from one of the mountains high atop Sonoma County looking out for snap and and you can see from this camera perspective, the hillside still on fire. Tbd. Breaks your time now 6. 27. Heres a live or heres a look at more of the damage caused by the glass fire you can see the pictures taken in the sky hawk neighbors, santa rosa shows a lot of homes burned to the ground if not their crews came in a tragic scene. Were also looking live as well from our network of cameras this one from a camera high atop one of the hills in Sonoma County looking out towards napa certainly see the hillside is still blowing with why ocedar . Because when i get home, we like to play crocodile on the floor ocedar easywring removes over 99 of bacteria, even with just water. Easy and truly clean floors ocedar. It feels great to feel at home 6. 30 right now and lets continue our look at the wildfires, the glass fire as theyre called in sonoma and napa counties. Lots of Evacuation Orders issued for sonoma and napa county in fact encompassing the affecting in Sonoma County lawn 68,000 people the entire town of calistoga was evacuated and now were looking at the of acres scorched 36,000 acres since this thing broke out with only 20 acres on sunday, a 113 homes and other structures have been destroyed. Thats just the latest count says theres 0 containment they cant get in there to get a better count. They just know that theres a good 8500 or more that are still threatened and thats why. They have all Evacuation Orders and you cant go back in and more of that are being warned to be ready this morning absolutely in fact, heres a map showing the perimeter of the fire once again. Numerous fires that have broken out of all just being called the class fires now it started in napa county. Out near road between calistoga saint and then we saw the flames migrate over the hill and into Sonoma County now threatened and burn portions of eastern san santa rosa, the cause of the fire still unknown all we know is that they broke out sunday when we are under red flag warnings for excessive heat and strong winds. We have Team Coverage this morning as we said the entire town of calistoga is evacuated as the fire continues to burn out of control and theyre worried about that area now kron fours will tran actually in the region for us in fact last we checked with you will youre kind of halfway between calistoga in saint helena out of that. One home on tucker, you still there. I am here im actually in the backyard now and look at how close the flames or theyre allowing us to get closer to it believe me, i know a lot of people worried about our safety so far so good because the fire as you can clearly see. They are using fire to fight fire and is actually going up hill, its burning trees but more importantly it is going away from the home i can feel the heat the smoke is rising away from us so it looks spectacular, but so far we are safe and the home is safe. This is between calistoga and saint helene and there is no power at this time pg e crews are racing around trying to remove the down power lines, theyre also making sure that the power poles dont fall and stop traffic on highway 29 for the firefighters to common go you can see right there. He has a torch in his hand so he is setting fires as we speak just to make sure that they have full control of whats going on and according to the Fire Department theyre saying so far the fire is playing nice and they are being helped out by Mother Nature because it is not windy at this time. Embers are flying around all over the place no doubt about it. But at least now they are taking the fight to the fire and not being defensive mode. You can clearly see what theyre doing their very best as far as the home we will swing the camera around were on us hill here so its pretty treacherous. There is that home often the distance that how close the fire is to that home so probably about 20 yards, but they are trying to get the fire to go uphill, not downhill. Plenty leaves on the ground for it to catch on fire but since they put on a perimeter. It is moving away from the home and interestingly enough guys they have yet to spray any water onto the fire. They have plenty of hoses on the ground ready to go in case the situation gets out of hand but at this particular time it looks like they know what theyre doing as far as moving the fire. Away from the flames very smoky conditions were talking about 8500 homes threatened at this particular time. 113 homes or structures that have been destroyed. Lets hope that number stays the same and does not include this particular home if youre waking up at your family and friends are in a hotel. I can tell you tucker road thats your home your home is fine these heroes out here are doing their very best to push the fire away from your homes which i know there are family this little kids there because we showed the toys on the ground little kids lived at this home as well moving away from us, thanks. Goodness. Back to you all right. Yeah dramatic a Vantage Point there will thank you very much for that. And lets continue our Team Coverage now go to Sonoma County where kron 4 Sarah Stinson has been surveying the damage in oakmont that neighborhood of santa rosa that has suffered several homes have been burned down there. Sarah. Yeah i will say though its very sporadic youll see just streets of homes that are untouched and then youll come across just one home that burned to the ground so very crazy but firefighters did a great job controlling the fire that was just encroaching on this entire Senior Living community, let me get behind the camera its best to show you that way otherwise its too have to turn up the light camera and iris that you can really get a good idea of what im seeing here. This is a home that was actually for sale thats why theres not as much debris in here they had no furniture inside just the appliances are seen as berndt this home here is on stone bridge road. And as i said the one next door fully standing other one on the other side fully standing but this one burned to the ground you can see right there said it was for sale and now what you see is so much ash its raining ash still and in the distance actually i see fire trucks they were responding to a hot spot. And that goes to show you that this far still active thats people arent allowed in here theyre still actively fighting can see a fire truck actually going in right now ive been trying to figure out how to get to where theyre going so i figured it out next live hit. Well see what theyre up to over there, but there in the distance about probably 10 minutes away and so well have to see you know how close of a call was but i saw a big red glow in the sky. Shes going to try to get to that area to see what the firefighters are working on next okay, lets go to Robin Winston shes part of Team Coverage this morning keeping a close eye on the ever changing. Evacuation warnings and mandate. So whats the latest from what you can see robin. Well, yeah we want to keep folks updated because they really want to get inside of those neighborhoods and show you the new information that weve received about the new evacuation zone so were actually going to start off with an evacuation map of Sonoma County will start wide, so you can see the entire area thats impacted and then as we go through the zones will zoom in a little bit closer now. The red dots are the heat signature thats for the shady fire keep in 5 of those red orange areas are under mandatory Evacuation Orders. So you do not have an option need to get out as soon as possible. So we have the out for Sonoma County that we have one for napa but well start off with Sonoma County and well zoom to the specific areas that we want to highlight for you. So lets start off with zone, one zone, one is the area surrounded by are within highway 12 farmers lane that includes homes near my at avenue spring creek drive you are under an evacuation warning. They will let you know if it turns into an order will pass that on to you as well, but if youre under a warning in youre in that neighborhood need to be packed up have all of your essentials and be ready to go so one and then we also have the second zone which is the lc zone. Now that includes homes near cypress way and creekside within that neighborhood youre going to be impacted if you live near sacramento. Horseshoe and that their avenue. Those are the neighborhoods and streets that are impacted within that zone the lc zone youre under a special warning you need to be packed up and ready to go the 3rd zone, a neighborhood that want to take a look at this includes the areas that are south of to cop a drive in east of any valid role now within that neighborhood you have homes that are near bathurst strive natomas and you will all be impacted if you live within zone 3 youre under a special evacuation warning now thats the newest information that weve received into our newsroom now want to move over to napa county so far no major changes from overnight. Everythings the same were start off wide. You see the whole area thats impacted. Space special attention to the areas that are shaded in blue. Youre under a mandatory Evacuation Order. The yellow areas once again or evacuation warnings also keep in mind that the entire town of calistoga is under a mandatory Evacuation Order so no one who lives there are works there should be in that area hanging out are surveying the damage crews do not want you along that stretch at all at last check. There was no damage within city limits. So that is good news but then theres also significant damage in the surrounding areas so fire crews will remain on scene monitoring that area closely keeping an eye on it for you and we will too if anything changes well definitely let you know and well pass it on will head back to you. All right, thanks a lot robin. Because the fires that kids who live in those areas, they cant distance learn because their computers or job or they dont have wi fi or. You know theyre evacuated it makes it difficult thats why the Bennett Valley Union District has stopped Distance Learning for now ken Wood School District or ink on union school grabbing seen Union District. And Sonoma Valley unified those are all not doing their usual Distance Learning. At least for today and. All Santa Rosa City schools are canceled for today and tomorrow, however, they are going to continue with their grab and go meals for kids who need it. The smoke from the glass fire course affecting air quality across the region, heres the wider view of the north bay. The fires burning there at the top of the screen and you can see by the colors displayed just how bad the air quality is the darker the color, the worse, the higher the number the worse and you can see those areas in purple in own have some of the most unhealthy air in fact the spare the air alerts but extends through friday. And thats just going to be something we have to live with. Heres where once again dealing with a lot of smoke and ash in the air its going to be another very difficult week to get through. Lets hope they can get the upper hand on these fires and maybe the winds at some point will work in our favor but for now anyway thats causing some pretty bad air quality across the north bay. Yeah lets continue our Team Coverage on youve been doing a great job at the atlanta. Ford it depending on the the wind what the patterns are going to be for the air quality so why have they said all the way through friday for this because things are calming down announced that theres not going to be enough strong winds to be. Transporting any of that smoke out of the region its going to settle back in with us as we do still have this ridge of High Pressure in place unfortunately likely to be a hazy impact for much of the rest of the week ahead. Fortunately thats not hayes are looking at and San Francisco, but a little bit of fog streamed back into the bay a sign of a return of onshore cooler air thats pushed back in unfortunately thats kind of keeping that smoke trapped in inland portions of sonoma napa and solano counties where quality is at its worst. Best of air quality at the coast on the peninsula in the south bay, lets zoom in on the north bay because thats where were seeing your problem areas from Contra Costa County through Solano County and then especially for neighbors in napa and sonoma counties it is not the day to venture outside air quality is very poor weve seen improved conditions around the vicinity of the glass fire. We are seeing ce of very much so calmer winds much cooler temperatures much less dry conditions too so theres the positive to kick off this Tuesday Morning winds remain calm to the day today and again thats not enough to transport that smoke anywhere else. And in fact with High Pressure in place that smoke is just going to sink in especially for the north bay. Higher humidity today, not mirs bone drive today as yesterday guess what not as hot of the day as yesterday either already off to a cooler start with 50s 60s right now were a solid 20 degrees cooler than yesterday in areas like Napa Santa Rosa and say whoa lena a very nice change from a tease that we had to start some of those areas yesterday. The afternoon ahead will bring 80s 90s for your daytime highs some patches of fog this morning and plenty of sunshine amid some hazy conditions later on today back over to you robin. All right, thank you john were tracking a big problem on the east shore freeway, a major hot spot a motorcycle crash has all lanes closed on the east shore freeway in richmond take a look at traffic tracker here this is right part rural avenue and the central exit. Thrive. 6. 46 right now continuing our coverage of the breaking news which are the wildfires in sonoma and napa county. We have already seen the damage in Sonoma County and is bad yeah in fact out near santa rosa on the eastern edges where weve seen most of the damage copper Sarah Stinson been giving us. The use of that yesterday and Little Cheese in oakmont my neighborhood looks like weve got an active fire fight sarah. Yeah just outside of Oakmont Senior Living they have a hot spot from this continuing into and the community which is that way but as you can see this home here right off of highway 12. Definitely has a major damage probably a total loss because they can see the smoke coming from the home and they have at least opted though from spreading can see this outdoor building though pretty destroyed were sitting right next to the tree on an adele state park and thats what kind of cause major concern because it sits right next to the Community Living center or living neighborhood thats why theres major concern and so theyve been actively watching for hot spots and i saw this big red orange plume come from this area can figure out where they were. And then i finally drove appearance saw so many fire trucks these are local guys from santa rosa Fire Department know the area well this is their territory. Santa rosa is where were at right now and they are the ones here making sure that it doesnt spread any further you can see a lot of charred land out here. A lot of smoke sun is rising. We wont see the sun anytime soon. Yeah were starting to get a better idea of the damage this all happened. It was in the last 20 to 30 minutes, another kind in recovery mode, they put out the flames you can still again see some smoke billowing from this house here again this is off highway 12 those teeny tiny streets. I think its a fraud lane, tiny little 10 tiny little handmade sign at the entrance of this driveway and theres a lot of fire presence here theyre not only working on this lane. But also the one next door. A look at how much ash is over here on the sides that is all actually looks like snow. And then you see the huge fire hose heading all the way down to the fire trucks. These several Different Properties that sparked up this morning and you can see how hot spot right there. Unfortunately again they were able to stop it because to put it in perspective. Right on highway 12. This is right next to that Oakmont Senior Living community and if this just kept going. It could have lit a lot more houses on fire so good on these guys for being here right on time and making sure it didnt spread unfortunately for this house it looks like it is severely damaged if not total loss and a break in all the windows and heather, you know carve out the holes and make sure that they can get that smoke out and prevented from fully burning down and then continuing to burn more land. Send it back to you guys. All right look at that front yard to with the ash so deep that sarasota look like snow. We can see a lot of that ash elsewhere as well at least half inch of it building up on cars. This was the scene in somebodys backyard. In santa rosa. Last night while get all of to hash. While and obviously with the wind kind of the way it was a lot of the north it was just getting hammered with that ash and john was talking about how the winds are going to be blowing the smoke away i wonder if that means the actual does continue to kind of just stay raining down on that part of the north as well as looking like guys and not a good situation for the north bay even fire weather has improved we have seen calmer winds which is good news for fire spread. But those calmer winds that smoke that ash says going to settle back down into the north bay. So thats something were going to be dealing with for multiple days ahead of us really the rest of the week. This is fog moving in into the bay itself. This is your berkeley view right here. The fog a sign of relief for us yesterday was hot dry winds from our inland areas today thats replaced by cool and moist winds from the coast that are actually streaming back into the bay and helping the situation up in the north bay. Calmer conditions this morning and any sort of light breezes that you are seeing is just really pushing in some cooler moister air which is good news. So calmer winds cooler temperatures all in all improvements for the vicinity of the glass fire. The downside to that is with little winds that smoke is just going to settle with us and its going to stay with us for some time specially in the north bay today but eventually diffusing to the rest of the bay area. There will be more and more of an impact further and further south right now san jose youre holding on to moderate air quality some coastal spots actually not too bad at all while the worst of it is centered right around sonoma napa and solano counties even stretching down into contra costa counties so not the day to be doing a whole lot of Outdoor Activities and plan on those indoor workouts for the rest of the week too. 60s and 70s for your coastal spots, including San Francisco today mission in financial districts, falling from yesterdays 90s to just 70s today, huge difference in temperatures closer to the coast. Most bayside areas will be in the 80s to low 90s with santa clara and milpitas each right at 90 degrees. Fremont and hayward in the upper 80s while 90s from livermore through walnut creek up to concord oakland 82 for your high cooler than yesterdays mid 90s while sonoma and napa still hot in the 90s but better than triple digits yesterday. Santa rosa in petaluma also still hanging on the low 90s. Tomorrow temperatures are expected to be just a couple of degrees warmer but not a big spike in temperatures after that its all downhill daytime highs falling continuously into the weekend that will eventually take us to actually a pretty comfortable weekend with highs only in the 80s that are warmest and 70s by the bay. James. John time now 6. 52 want to show you some pictures now as we go. This is the scene at the down the road so. In calistoga if youve ever been to winery thats that one that was built stone by stone to mimic a european castle. And a lot of people have wedding photos taken there. And it looks like. It might be a total loss right back. To the north bay from the fires that you will see this over your neighborhood maybe this afternoon.
