This wednesday and we will begin in kentucky were grand jury has chosen not to charge the 3 Louisville Police officers for their role in the death of brianna taylor. Taylor was shot multiple times by officers who burst into her home on march 13th while conducting a no knock warrant in a narcotics investigation. Prosecutors say 2 of the officers who fired their weapons were justified in using force because they were protecting themselves. However, former officer seen here Brett Hankinson who was fired earlier this year for his role in the shooting was charged with 3 counts of wanton endangerment which means extreme indifference to the value of human life. But this was for firing into the apartments of taylors neighbors. These long awaited charges were immediately met with frustration and disappointment. As for months protesters have pressured kentuckys attorney general Daniel Cameron to arrest the 3 officers and now none of them are facing criminal charges in taylors death. And this team, members of the representatives, the attorney generals taken a lot of criticism and scrutiny. But that screen in many ways was misplaced because there was not a day. The people in this office didnt go to sleep thinking about this case and it wasnt a day with the first thing on our minds. It is getting to the truth in this case. Now to our coronavirus coverage here in the Bay Area Health workers in santa rosa are demanding better testing and Infection Control measures amid a covid19 outbreak at multiple hospitals. Kron fours Charles Clifford has the story here in Santa Rosa Group of employees at santa rosa Memorial Hospital held a rally outside of the hospital saying that the hospital has not done enough recently. To contain an outbreak of coronavirus now back in august. The hospital says that 26 employees here and possibly 4. Patients contracted coronavirus the hospital says they did Contact Tracing and testing to try to isolate the outbreak but the employees say management here did not do enough they didnt do enough testing. They have not provided enough ppe for employees and they want more the only workers. Right, not just. A top public. And happening in parkland hospital. The Hospital Management defended their handling of the situation saying that they have tested employees they have done Contact Tracing and that their primary focus is on the health and safety of everyone here at the hospital we contact trace. We make sure that that are caregivers are taking care of wheat asked and we ensure that that there isolated go home and get better were interested in their wellbeing and making sure that they can come back and take care of our patients and our community. The measure does offer some relief for landlords as well it converts back rent payments into consumer debt, allowing landlords to start going after that money in small claims courts, beginning in march. The Contra Costa County Fire Protection district says the fire season started in early may and that the first 2 months were historically busy the Fire Protection district saw a 400 increase in grass and vegetation fires during that time period. A sign of things to come so far this year the Fire Protection district has responded to 1131 grass and vegetation fires compared to 756 fires during the same period last year, a 50 jump. Fire district spokesperson, steve hill says we have not even reached the height of the fire season which is expected next month and this year he says the season. Will likely not end until december when the rains arrive at the moment, the Fire Protection district has 4 crews which amounts to 16 firefighters providing mutual aid to other departments outside of the county. The agency will also have to make a rule requiring all medium and heavy duty trucks be 100 0 emission cars by the year 2045 where feasible. The governor also directed state agencies to speed up development of charging stations across the state and calls on the legislature to eliminate new fracking licenses by the year 2024. Coming down from the mountain so it is going to be a very warm and dry wind and we are going to notice gusts upwards of 50 Miles Per Hour less starting saturday morning through monday morning in addition to that very hot and dry conditions this weekend. I know that its technically fall but summer like temperatures returning to the bay area or we could see widespread 90s to triple digit heat for most of our inland valleys along the bay 80s 90s and along the coast mid 70s to mid 80s. So it is going to be a very hot weekend on tap and from now until then we did notice a little bit of warming today but overall very pleasant temperatures in fact temperatures along the coast of the San Francisco peninsula, 60 degrees for Half Moon Bay low 70s for downtown San Francisco starting to get that cool sea breeze so mother natures ac kicking into high gear right now with 78 degrees throughout the east bay shoreline and widespread low to mid and upper 80s as you make your way inland but tomorrows daytime highs going to cool down a few degrees. We are going to notice a lot more clouds and sun, especially along the coast and the return of that stronger seabreeze also pushing in that low and high cloud cover so we are going to cool down to downtown San Francisco, 69 degrees mid 60s for those of you at Half Moon Bay mid 70s throughout the east bay shoreline and widespread low to mid 80s as you make your way inland but then the heat is on this weekend just seen high fire danger concerns thats why we do have that fire weather watch going into effect all weekend long and you can see triple digit heat even extending through next tuesday starting on monday of next week so we are in for the long haul with this high fire danger concern has remember this is actually typically a peak of our high fire season the months of september and october so we saw another month to go back to you. You might run into a pod of more than a dozen raccoons buyer out on a walk but thats what happened to kron 4 viewer stoke and his son and their dog as well. This is on the trail next to north lake in Golden Gate Park and you can see the raccoons they are not afraid they just stare down the family and there are a lot of them just hanging out and as they continued down the trail the sun then noticed a coyote that was lurking just a few feet from the pack there it is at the bottom of the screen moving away. The National Park service says coyotes help regulate the number of small rodents and raccoons in the park officials want to remind everyone never to feed the wildlife and try to keep at a safe distance that coyote had a lot of things for lunch to choose from. A California State University system has appointed Joseph Castro to serve as the 8th chancellor of the university system. Castro who served as the president of csu fresno since 2013 is now the first california native and first Mexican American to be appointed to oversee the 23 campus university. He succeeds Timothy P White was retiring after leaving the University Since late 2012. Castro has ties to the bay area he received his bachelors in Political Science and masters in Public Policy from the university of california berkeley and a phd in Higher Education and leadership from stanford.
