However, the San Jose Unified School district says were just not ready for that we want consistency and we want to make sure we stick with this until december until its safer for students to go back to in person classes now the superintendent says cases in san jose specifically love in the county san jose cases rising and so theyre not comfortable reopening schools for in Person Learning the district put out a survey to parents staff and students and it showed people want wanted some consistent plans throughout the semester they didnt want to start with Distance Learning and then go back to in person and then maybe have to revert back because that can be a lot on the students on the parents in the schedules that they tried to maintain while in Person Learning is the best type of learning they said they will revert back to that when its known to be safer and that will be in 2021. This comes after a spike in fatal police shootings, including the death of Sean Monterrosa back in june which many of us remember the union says that officers are on board with these new policies to improve the department but so far none of the recommendations. Have been implemented and the union feels like theyve been stonewalled. Theyve positioned us as somehow an impediment to change and reform and to the contrary. We have reached out on numerous occasions to get the ball rolling on these reforms we see it as an opportunity to him i move the department forward in a new direction. The union says as crime rises across the city, the biggest need right now as for more officers on the streets. San francisco is proposing new action to crack down on side shows including plans to implement harsher penalties for people who participate. This coming in the wake of the labor day shooting that happened where a man died near a sideshow in San Franciscos excelsior district city leaders say the legislation would deter people from coming to San Francisco to take part in sideshows the piece of legislation.
