Now the winds at the surface of continued there on short and basically out of the northwest for a lot of the east bay shoreline however, noting down around pacifica it will around Half Moon Bay to a little bit north westerly southwesterly thats all in response to this front. Thats lingering right off the coast not going to get a full 4 fact of this doesnt look like well get a little waves coming across and thats enough. The kind of mix up the atmosphere to improve what we already have so this is what it looked like as we look upstream just to check things out for the next about 24 to 36 hours or so again that marine layer comes out. Notice upstream a few little showers out there thats where the deeper front is causing more the vertical lift going on here and well just have successive waves that takes us to the end of the week. Im alexandra le mon in washington coming up, well take a look at the federal funding that will be available for states impacted by the wildfires. And the family of Brianna Taylor is receiving a large settlement amount from the city of louisville. Whats included in the next agreement. And after the break federal and local officials remove drugs and guns off the streets of a concorde Shopping Center. The monument boulevard and city conquered is safer today. Lawmakers say a lot of federal money will be needed to not only deal with the fires burning. Actually speaking of the weather we talk about the fires are going to talk about the weather. Lets turn to kron fours dave spahr hes got a look at how things are looking things up a little clearer downtown San Francisco. Yeah truck and that was nice we like that that was pretty good yeah in the shot as soon as also from timber a little bit of haze going on here, but dont forget some of the fog may be rolling in a little bit shot way off in the distance, theres the golden gate, its get up close and personal look at the blue there has been a while since weve seen some of that see the towers off to marine so were going into a nice evening now our winds still remain on shore or out of the northwest, although what down south. Theyre still coming in from the southerly direction or the southwest thats all do in response to this front kind of hovering up towards our northwest all of this mechanics means it gives a little breeze going on here, but we really need or clear things up with a hurricane we did a nice job, but i mean we need to have a lot of vertical going on here 80s off to the far east bay up to the north bay, a mixture of 80s and 77 to 8 for san jose thats current numbers by the way mid 70s cover the east bay shoreline. Now with all this on shore flow business, were still a little warmer today than we were yesterday and before so were continuing our little warming trend as we go forward i want to show you whats going to happen though into the future by middle of the week thursday friday. Rain chances dont look great out of this but maybe a little bit in the north a couple sprinkles. But at least an opportunity to kind of provide some of that mix in the atmosphere upstream lows tonight, but its down mostly for the lower 60s and good fog coverage over the bay area to greet you tomorrow morning, well cover your sevenday forecast as well coming up in a bit knots they thank you for back to our story about the wildfires. Lawmakers say a lot of federal money will be needed to not only deal with the fires burning across the western United States. But the aftermath which includes hundreds of people left without homes washington correspondent Alexandra Limon reports. The lawmakers in washington expect some aid is already on the way and more should be approved quickly. Wildfires are ripping through the western United States but were saying now is really apocalyptic doctor bruce time the chief scientist at the National Wildlife federation says in a normal year one to 200,000 acres would burn in california theres more than 3 million acres land in california alone. Thats burned in oregon fires are burning in areas that are normally very wet and not prone to wildfires and so many people have been evacuated or been at risk of shun and weve seen entire towns destroyed is just absolutely devastating fema quickly approved initial emergency declarations to provide federal funding to battle the fires, california and oregon. Were already dealing with an Affordable Housing crisis even before the wildfires wiped out entire pounds upwards of 2500 housing mostly mobile homes and lowerincome apartments were destroyed in the and talent area. Congressman greg walden met with President Trump on monday is he wants or he can to help major disaster declarations will help provide additional federal funding for more longterm needs like housing rebuilding and even paying for peoples individual losses that funding has already been approved for parts of california and lawmakers expect quick approval for oregon to in washington, alexandra le mon. And now some national news, the city of louisville will pay 12 Million Dollars to the family of Brianna Taylor taylor was a black woman who was fatally shot by police who burst into her home at night back in march. According to lawsuit filed by taylors Mother Police used flawed information when they obtained a no knock warrant to enter the 26 yearold apartment. Taylors death sparked months of protests, the city in calls nationwide for the to be criminally charged. This is the largest settlement given out for a black woman killed by police in louisville, the settlement also includes reforms on how warrants are handled by police. And there seems to be no progress in sight in terms of another covid19 relief bill Catherine Heenan host of inside bay area politics is here with reaction to what nancy pelosi is now saying catherine what were hearing some hours that Speaker Pelosi says the house will stay in session. Until a deal is reached saying shes not going to budge on bill demands in a Conference Call with the House Democratic caucus. She told her troops the chambers calendar will be extended until an agreement is sealed the problem of course most americans dont care about details of the continued fighting in washington they simply understand absolutely nothing good is happening for them in the meantime as you might expect i got 2 very different viewpoints from our political analysts. In a normal world, the deal could and would be reached the president would families businesses and the economy are falling off a cliff. As federal funds dry up. They move closer to Speaker Pelosis number and you have a deal but covid relief doesnt fit in with the Trump Campaign theme that the economy is roaring back. It doesnt fit in with his Campaign Theme that the virus is going to magically disappear. So you have a campaign thats under cutting the need for a deal and in november while the voters may take out their frustration on the lack of relief package on all incumbents in government. The president will be at the top of their list. Were at a standstill again on unemployment support for covid as the election approaches plus seeing the democrats have taken the position theyre not going to or move forward, i dont think thats a good thing because election years are about giving things away historically and the party that is stingy on those sort of things tends to pay for it at the polls. There is one ray of hope maybe something called the problem solvers caucus, its made up of centrist democrats and republicans they say theyre going to propose a 1. 5 trillion dollar package it would include another round of stimulus checks and more unemployment aid for cities and states that could be coming up later this week son os right katherine, thank you so much. Now this is the second time weve done this we did this last time in 2005 you may recall ok so were doing that again but in 2005 you may say at first blush what that meant that the whole global system was very active not really the atlantic was far more active than the pacific and made up for the pacific that was relatively quiet in 2005 so on balance it was much the same and last little point to as well. It only matters the storms that hit land you can have a bunch of named storms to go nowhere. But its the ones that hit land of their birth critical ones we got to watch live. Shot, lets give you this one here walnut creek look at that little haze leftover still working on it day by day give us some time and that fog comes back again for tonight to greet us tomorrow morning spilling into the Central Valley run the Sacramento Valley as well but to help out getting to the latter portion of this week as a front. Thats why we already have some southwesterly winds down around the peninsula, little bit going on here but most of the rain is going to be up in the northwest they could use that as well so everybodys going to get some relief from the weather looks like along the west coast or at least the northwest down to a 61. This is the mobile bay where Hurricane Sally is forecasted to track straight up the center and make landfall. The uss alabama is docked here and you can start to see the water out here picking up and this area will likely flood we are starting to lose our visibility off to the south as Hurricane Sally moves in slowly, but surely, People Living here in the gulf are very familiar with hurricanes and Tropical Storms. However, the difference maker here is going to be the amount of rainfall we are forecasting up to 24 hours of continuous rainfall. And that is going to be a big difference maker when were talking about the impact that amount of rain can have on the flash flooding. And the potential life threatening storm surge that Hurricane Sally will bring with it some emergency officials on the ground here along the gulf coast are encouraging people to prepare for this storm evacuate the lowlying areas if they havent already before its too late and prepare for this to potentially have an impact on their family and their home. At this hour governor kay ivey has also authorized the Alabama National guard to stand at the ready along the coast as Hurricane Sally prepares to make landfall late tonight or early wednesday morning.
