But 80,000 acres and containment has grown to 19 altogether these local fires have burned about 800,000 acres in just over a week all right, lets get a closer look at each of those major we start off with the scu lightning complex and. Contra costa Alameda Santa clara, san joaquin and stanislaus counties more than 365,000 acres have been scorched in the fires are 20 contained tonight, 5 people have been injured 3 1st responders and 2 others more than 20,000 structures are threatened. Now that lnu lightning complex it has burned across 5 counties. Sonoma napa solano lake and yolo for more than 356,000 acres to become the 3rd largest fire in state history, 5 people have died and more than 900 structures have been destroyed 10s of thousands of additional structures remain threatened to knife. And the czu lightning complex that has burned more than 79,000 acres in an area that hasnt seen flames like these in decades. Cal fire says that more than 400 structures have been destroyed and 32 or damaged. Were also monitoring the woodward fire thats in western marin county it has grown to more than 2700 acres. Its 5 contained about 90 homes and businesses were evacuated just yesterday even though its been burning for about a week now flames continue to burn in a remote area of the Point Reyes National seashore there are more than 1600 structures that are threatened. At cal fire. Thank you for your time daniel, i know you guys are extremely busy can you bring us up to speed on how the weather and resources may be helping crews out there tonight. Well today weve continued to make Good Progress on double run the market came in numbers are inching up which is very good. The last couple of days, the weather really has cooperated with law firm that given up a good window of opportunity. I think continue to strengthen our line building became a line around the now in the next couple of days, we are monitoring the weather very closely as its very likely that were going to feel a little bit of a warming trend and you know weve got to continue to make sure that our lines hold at those temperatures to come up an especially if the potential reduces back down to daniel it seems like we dodged a when those lightning strikes with thunder storms were were were supposed to be hitting aside. Apparently the lightning strikes didnt do what they were what they were planning to do. Well, you know we are definitely. Yeah were definitely great in for 4 more like the sunday night into monday a preparing for what could be another busy couple days but are in reality. The thunderstorms actually seem to bring a little bit of rainfall which we werent necessarily. Expected and that was definitely a welcome sight. But as we continue to move on further into the summer months and into the coming you know were just going to get further into summer and so unfortunately a little bit of a a weather may have passed. It seems like the czu which is the Santa Cruz Mountains fire and the l a new fire complex in the north bay have just been. Wildly more destructive in terms of you know deaths and structures burned while the scu that complex in the east bay, south bay and Central Valley has has burned more acreage can you bring us up to speed on where the biggest threats are still tonight out of these 3 complexes. Well the fact of the su lightning complex in the series of fires burn in the east bay are for the most part really away from populated area that obviously is a key in why theres not the same amount of destruction. Obviously fires in the Santa Cruz Mountains where there are homes all the hill there and in the lnu any complex that fire burned all the way down into a vacaville interest airfield so very urbanized you one of the reasons so we often see. You know home right next to each other one burned one survived theres a number of factors and you know one of the biggest things that weve been learning with the wildfires i really have to do with the fact just that that home have Defensible Space and was that home built out of a Building Material that are amber resistant that combination the fence or stay at home or need that really increases the chance of the home survive in a while for like this. Daniel, i know you dont have a crystal and you certainly are getting some containment here when do you think youre going to be able to wrap this up and. Is there the fear that once you even get get everything tamp down theyll be more conditions that are right for more fires through the summer into the fall. We are going to continue to actively and aggressively fight these fires in every single those containment numbers, so well continue to go up now obviously were going to have to the longterm weather forecasts here very closely to make sure we dont get any wind events or any more lightning advance that hampered those efforts. But it is likely that we will be battling the for the weeks to come but the good peak here though as we make progress in some sections of these fires and we reduce the threat to community we are working very closely with the local sheriffs departments across the bay area to make sure we get people back into their homes as soon as possible. Dale i heard anecdotally from a family friend living in the Santa Cruz Mountains the ben lomond area. The other not sure if their home is Still Standing but theyve heard the water pipes in the area maybe shot they said they might not be able to go home even if their home exists is Still Standing until october have you heard anything about infrastructure. That has now. Been compromised because of the fires. After a wildfire burned through a theres a lot of that going to play in a lot of people saying i dont see smoke in the area why cant we return, but that that infrastructure you mentioned the utilities weatherbee electricity water even the roadway often have to be cleared and be before it safe for homeowners to return back we work very closely though with the municipal so that they can get in the way for them to start restoring those so that we can get homeowners back in and try to keep you allow them to return to some level of normalcy but that often can take weeks and especially in rural areas when fires destroyed water system that that is something that that takes. I was driving down west side a little bit earlier basically there is a creek here dry creek runs through this area, anyone to the west of dry creek still cant come home anyone to the right of it on the east side of dry creek was allowed to return if you want to show you some video i took just about an hour ago though to show you how active this fight still is countless water drops being made on the active flames burning to the west of dry creek. I made my way down hard hit mill creek road earlier as well i saw several active flames still burning on the hillside there. So thats all of Lake Berryessa up to the knoxville wildlife area to the north napa county line word borders with yellow county and includes big basin. The lower portion of on lake south of buds canyon, then where the napa county meets lake counties so you follow that border, passing right underneath langtree farms, golf club, including pope valley and up to highway 29 down to where it meets lincoln avenue just northwest of the calistoga city limits and the mandatory evacuation line then cuts east to include northen east of silverado trail including class mount and how mountain childs mount as well stage canyon for canyon. North of pfos valley atlas and monticello road right around long home ridge road. So the warning just starts below there in orange. And you can see how just borders, the blue mandatory zone both extending into blue bridge. The evacuation warning is above the napa river rolling running along silverado trail and it includes that Lake Hennessey the remaining north part of sage canyon road the millikan canyon and now george just east of the Silverado Country Club which is safe. Thanks to that stronger on shore flow so current wind speeds out there right now fortunately very calm, but for those of you in downtown San Francisco, getting wind speeds are 20 Miles Per Hour or less, but we are going to notice calm wind speeds tonight during the overnight hours certainly going to help out firefighters that thick fog bank right off the coast already spreading inland overnight lows tonight, 50s and 60s the daytime highs cooling down right where we should be not just along the coast, but even our inland valleys as well. Try valleys only warming up to 89 degrees so out of the 90s havent said that in more than a week after weve been in the 90s in triple digits for the last 2 weeks mid 70s throughout the east bay shoreline downtown San Francisco in Half Moon Bay in the mid 60s with the low to mid 80s for most of the north bay napa 82 degrees and wednesday will be the coolest day of the next 7 warming up and drying out by around later this week into this weekend and 7 days from now tracking some breezy winds so going to keep an eye on that as our wildfire threat continues to 7 days from now next tuesday back to you grant vicki. I am on the west side road as you can see to the left of me this road is still closed due to some key evacuation orders that are still in place here. Anyone to the west excuse me to the east of dry creek that runs right through this area, those folks are able to go home. But like i said anyone here on the east side of dry creek have to stay away for tonight and heres a look at why there were still plenty of hot spots burning an active flames off of the already hardhit mill creek road this video from about the 4,000 block of mill creek this at this evening. Were looking at is the walbridge fire right now it is standing at 54,500 acres and its 17 contained officials are hoping that the winds stay calm tonight, so that they can continue to make some progress. I did watch the couple of choppers dipped into the creek that runs right through trying to fight this fire from above that video taken just about 7 oclock this evening that was about the last bit of air fight that i saw today those air efforts did look to be successful. They were kind of focusing on the area that i keep that i was saying has sparked again tonight just over my right shoulder, but they are hoping that the winds stay pretty calm today again, the officials from cal fire earlier when they did a press conference use the term cautiously optimistic.
