Theres a reason that Evacuation Orders are still in place for many people down that way and heres why ive got some video showing a tree that was Still Producing flames earlier today brush and trees still smoking and burning near where one 21 in one 28 to meet in napa county i drove down towards steel canyon road. Thats where i saw some devastation of homes and just scorched hillside on both sides of the highway down a little further south though on one 21 you can turn down Wooden Valley road folks there were able to return to their homes today if they so choose. Lots of vineyards down this way i spoke with a man whose wife left when the Evacuation Order came down back. Last wednesday but he stayed behind to try and defend his property and now that his wife is back home as of today at his property is safe. He is breathing a sigh of relief tonight. More relieved a lot more an for us to get prepared for the next we knew that it was here when it was in Lake Hennessey then it got to bury a son and we knew that it was their. We really werent expecting that to come south too much so but but it did. Kind of caught us by surprise a little bit. Yeah thankfully. He had mentioned you know it was a more slower moving fire. So that was what allowed him to get a handle on it him in and several of his friends that helps now i did want to mention not only are folks who stayed behind defending their property. They were also worried about looters. There have been several reports of looting happening up and down one 21 thankfully, there are Police Officers and Law Enforcement kind of staged throughout that highway to try and keep that at bay, but i know that that was definitely something a lot of folks were worried about those who now are in the areas where its just downgraded to a warning they were happy to be back home so that they could continue to defend their property if need be grant vicki and what catherine yes so much talk about the possibility of lightning and high winds. The red flag warning, but it seems like. We dodged that bullet and theres a fog bank at the coast. Im wondering what the weathers like. Inland where you are has has the fog reach 2 is it windy, hows the weather. Theres a theres a little bit of wind here now earlier today it was definitely very smoky still out here and as the sun went down there was still a pretty thick layer of haze over this part of napa however just before this hit i looked up and i could see 2 stars. Im sure that that normally i could see so many more stars out here it was a super super clear night but seeing a couple of stars appear makes me feel pretty good that that its clearing out because that smoke was definitely stick earlier today. Alright noel, thank you, thanks. So much. Glad you saw some stars, thanks know. We want to take a look now at evacuations for napa county and unlike other maps, the blue area. Still at a loss cred theyre still unsure and processing what exactly had happened. But the mill creek road. The scene now is just a lot of ashes and burned down homes. Thats of course further along down mill creek road in getting there isnt easy. Theres a lot of fallen trees and downed power lines that make that track a bit hard. I spoke to a couple like we said they lost everything including their future plans. Planes remain active on mill creek road in healdsburg as dozens of homes are now destroyed we saw this is going to be all the time at home. Homestead though legacy for our children. And weve been and the process of building a farm. And the place for. A long time and now we dont know nor bora out about shes dream home now reduced to rubble or sold his business and the 2 moved up here. Over the last 4 years even building a farm in building their future but that along with family heirlooms now lay among the ashes very startling my husband is a Custom Furniture designer and many pieces that weve had in the family for 20 years or more design pieces beautiful custom pieces are all gone. Family heirlooms jewelry. I these are all things but i think the most important thing is that each object has a. As a human story connected to it and thats thats really what we. Im morning on sunday they return to their home on mill creek road to see the devastation. For themselves. The fire barreled through their property destroying everything in its path. Their cabin, their truck and tractor also their workshop in barn. Despite the destruction all the one thing remained in ok condition. Their garden and its rose is really sort of hout me feel inspired that we can we can move on that theres some hope. Now i spoke to a couple earlier today in San Francisco thats where theyre staying for now and if they havent already been through enough. Well while theyve been there one of their cars was stolen unfortunately really sad to hear that. And of course now back here on mill creek road. This area is still under a mandatory evacuation. Im glad that we left them that we were. In the midst of many many many other people who were leaving its a little bit emotional but i i dont know we dont have our jobs weve been lucky through the pandemic to begin less so and i mean its a lot worse for people who have already lost everything. Well the uncertainty is certainly become a struggle. Many were hoping that they werent going to be away from their homes for this long, but that continues to be the case in the meantime crews do not want people trying to get back up into these communities to look at their homes to survey the damage on their own. Crews are out here actively doing that whether it is safe for them to do that they dont want the efforts out here being hampered and they dont want people to be putting themselves on necessarily in danger. And our meteorologist Mabrisa Rodriguez joins us now from the Weather Center and rivers has been checking on weather conditions brace of how tough things Santa Cruz County tonight around the czu complex fires. Yeah were noticing a huge improvement not just tracking a cool sea breeze but also we are seeing cooler temperatures right now in the mid 60s and relative humidity all the way up to 78 so a lot more moisture. That is certainly going to help out firefighters, so that its not so dry and wind speeds in the single digits, so fairly calm at around 5 Miles Per Hour. Getting a low fog bank out there right now as we move closer to the bay area in the east bay shoreline we are noticing some cloud cover finally thanks to the return of august so that marine layer influence starting to extend along the bay with mid 60s for those of you in oakland low 60s for berkeley and upper 60s for those of you in san jose already cooling down into the upper 50s for downtown San Francisco. Thanks to the return of that low and high cloud cover and cool sea breeze right now petaluma 57 degrees as a santa rosa, but nap up a little bit milder at 65 degrees for those of you in the north bay, lets take a look at current wind speeds out there right now fortunately any wind gusts that we do see throughout tonight will be around 15 Miles Per Hour or less with winds out of the westsouthwest tomorrow 20 Miles Per Hour less overall light breezy winds for tomorrow and stormtracker 4 tracking right now that fog bank mainly along the coastline of the bay area cooling down overnight low seeing a lot more 50s as opposed to 60s like we have in the last couple of nights downtown San Francisco expect a cool down to 58 degrees said widespread upper 50s to the east bay shoreline with low to mid 60s as you make your way inland. The one outlier though antioch only cooling down to 71 degrees. So a little bit mild there. But tomorrows daytime highs, the cooling trend will continue still going to be a little bit warm for the tribe valleys in the low 90s widespread 80s as you make your way inland with santa rose at 86 degrees low 80s for those of you in napa so out of the 90s for the north bay where that l a new lightning fire is burning in san jose 86 degrees in downtown San Francisco. Near average highs tomorrow at 69 degrees away from the coast were going to be about 5 degrees above average and taking a look ahead at your 10 at 10 outlook. We will continue with the cooling trend through wednesday were even our inland areas going to cool down to near average but very little change within the next 10 days. Midnineties so fortunately, no excessive heat warnings are heat advisories heading our way into our warmest inland spots and also not tracking any popup thunderstorms for at least the 10 day so great to see that the weather starting to calm down for us in the bay area as well back to hugh grant and katharine.
